Chapter 1 - Chapter 0: The cataclysm

Chapter 0

"Mama, what is that?"

A kid pointed directly at the sky, asking his mother what was overshadowing them.

Up above the sky, a looming darkness began to swallow the sun, as if a vast body of water were covering the sun. However, as the sun was being consumed whole, its color started to change to a light blue hue.

People were minding their business in a vast city, but all of them came to a halt and started looking directly at the sky, as the sun was being devoured by something.

People were looking at the sky with shocked expressions, some took out their crucifixes and started praying, and others were taking pictures of the sky, as if they were trying to record the event on their phones.

BOOM

Suddenly, a tremendous explosion occurred in the middle of the city, it was like a thunderbolt hitting the ground, but then a swirling sound replaced the loud explosion.

A portal suddenly appeared in the middle of the city. It was huge, standing in the middle of the city. The edge of the portal had a thin line that was formed by a streak of lightning.

People started to surround the portal at a safe distance. The police started to block the people who wanted to get closer to the portal.

Click

Click

Click

People started to take pictures of the portal in front of them, and each click on their phones made a flash in their phone cameras.

"Everybody get back, there's nothing to see here." The police wave their arms, signaling the crowd to walk away from the portal.

"What the heck do you mean there is nothing to see here? There's literally a huge portal in front of us!" a man shouted from the back of the crowd and pointed at the portal in front of them.

The crowd agreed in unison with what the man just said. The people were curious about what was going on; the sun was covered with something, and people were in a panic about what was going to happen next.

"Can all of you please back away from the scene for your own safety!" One of the police officers shouted at the crowd, trying to control it.

The crowd was in an uproar, trying to protest, not wanting to be ordered around by someone, especially if they were people with political authority over someone who was under the government system.

But then, something was coming out of the portal.

People look at the swirling portal as if something is coming out of it. A humanoid alien started coming out of the portal. They were coming out in groups; it was like refugees going into a different country because of a war happening in their own country.

But the problem was that they were stepping into the home of humanity. A land where they were more cautious about being around things that are unnatural to them, or rather irregular to them.

"Everyone, look over there!"

"What are they?"

"They look like human."

"But why do they have scales all over their bodies?"

People started taking pictures of the alien and pointing at it like they were seeing something amazing, because they were seeing something that didn't come from Earth.

The humanoid alien that came out of the portal had human-like features, but what made the aliens different from humans was that some parts of their bodies had scales covering their skin.

They wore tattered clothes like beggars, but people didn't know the portal's contents could poison humans, and these are the last remaining species that live beyond it.

Police started taking out their weapons, pointing directly at the aliens that came out of the portal.

"Get down in the ground! NOW!"

They shouted and pointed their guns directly at the aliens, feeling threatened by how different they were.

"@#$#@####@@$"

The aliens started shouting in a panic, raising their arms, waving to the cops not to shoot them. They were huddling with each other in their arms, shivering like a group of penguins stuck in a pile of snow surrounding them.

"ON YOUR KNEES! GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES! NOW!"

Pointing his gun at the ground repeatedly, the cop ordered the aliens to get down. The leader of the aliens understood what the cop was trying to say and slowly got on his knees, showing the cops that they were willing to cooperate.

The alien leader looks at his people and starts shouting at them to cooperate and get on their knees. The aliens, hearing their leader's concerned voice, slowly got on their knees.

"What are you going to do with them?"

A girl was recording with her phone what was happening in front of them. She looks at the aliens that were lying on the ground with sympathy, wanting to know what they are planning to do with them.

"We don't know yet; the government will be the one to decide what will happen to them."

The cops surrounded the alien and started handcuffing them as they lay on the ground like they were some criminals.

Suddenly, a group of armed cars started appearing and surrounded the group of aliens with the metal cars.

Armed men were getting out of the armored car. Each of them was a highly trained military soldier, meant for special missions just like this one.

Capturing the aliens one by one and putting them inside the armored vehicles as if they were some criminals.

[Mama, help me!]

[Don't worry, baby, everything's gonna be alright, I promise you that.]

By their own genders, the people categorized the aliens, separating them. The aliens cried as they were being separated from their own families.

Looking on with sympathy, they can only watch and protest the armed men.

As the world changed, portals began appearing across the globe, one by one.

New worlds were being discovered as the portals started appearing. And the biggest change of it all was the sun itself, and a new kind of element was introduced into the world.
