Chapter 174 - Chapter 174: A Proper Game of Chess

Tsunade was grinding her teeth. That woman dared to monopolize Kairen before she even had the chance herself!

"Cough…"

Yakushi Nonō choked a little after Kairen gave her a drink. Kairen gently patted her back.

"Let's keep drinking," he said.

Nonō pushed him away and whispered, "The kids are here. Don't teach them bad habits."

Akikawa gnawed on a chicken leg nearby and shook his head.

"You and Kairen-san can pretend we're not here! Couples should be closer—that way the baby will come sooner."

Kairen gave Akikawa a thumbs up. Nonō blushed and protested softly.

After everyone finished eating, those who were stuffed began messing around instead of behaving.

Kairen lay on Nonō's lap watching a shadow-clone performance, occasionally clapping and shouting. She pinched him, scolding that the children were there, so he ordered the clones to present something more appropriate.

Jiraiya slammed the table dramatically, then one of the clones performed a warm song. The atmosphere softened; the moon hung high, and people felt peaceful.

Little Jinrei and Akikawa clapped. "So good! Kairen-san singing while holding a broom sounds great!"

Kairen smiled helplessly, lying on Nonō's lap as he listened.

Then the next performer stepped up—dark hat, dark jacket, curly hair: "Michael Kairen." He danced energetically, and even Uchiha Madara couldn't match him. The younger ones joined in happily.

Somehow Kairen ended up resting face-up on Nonō's legs. She tried pushing him away, but he wouldn't budge. Tsunade saw this and grew even more furious.

Jiraiya attempted to comfort Tsunade with bold words but was promptly punched out of the Senju compound.

More acts followed—even comedy skits. "Kairen from the Mountains" had people walking back and forth jokingly.

Time passed, and the world quieted.

Kairen became drunk and began showing off his Drunken Fist moves.

Yūhi Kurenai tugged at his clothes.

"Kairen, stop. Everyone has left. Tsunade made sobering soup for you—drink it and sleep."

He grumbled that Nonō had escaped, ruining his plans for the evening.

Kurenai helped him inside and laid him on a mat.

Tsunade came out with a bowl of milky soup. She sat close and supported his head.

"Medicine time~"

Kairen shivered at her tone and suspiciously asked if she had poisoned it. She smacked his chest, offended, and assured him she wouldn't harm him.

He drank, and the cool soup made him feel better.

Kairen noticed something unsettling—Tsunade's expression was full of fierce possessiveness.

She smiled gently, saying the soup only had something to help with his condition. In her dreams, she had seen him and her together too many times already, and after witnessing him being so close with Nonō, that possessiveness surged stronger.

Little Kairen could only belong to her—everyone else should back off.

Seeing his color return, Tsunade sent Kurenai to bed, then carried Kairen into her own room.

Kairen sobered up quickly and told her this wasn't right. Tsunade reluctantly backed down from her intentions.

To pass the time, Kairen took out a chess set from his previous life and taught Tsunade how to play. She learned fast.

They sat on the bed, set up the board, and played from night until dawn—completely absorbed, their battles intense and unyielding.
