Chapter 2 - The Night of Horror

While his parents slept soundly, Vedant, a self-proclaimed night owl, was absorbed in his phone. His daily routine revolved around it, and tonight was no different as he scrolled through products on Amazon. Amid his search, a peculiar website caught his eye: "The Bloody Amazon." Driven by curiosity about the kind of rumors a website could peddle, he clicked the link.

The site was filled with unnerving text. "Man-eating monsters who would hunt you with their bloody mouths," one line read. "Ghosts that will scare you to the end," another said. A shiver ran down his spine, and he quickly closed the window, a flicker of doubt crossing his mind. "What if these are true?" he wondered. Although he was momentarily scared, he quickly dismissed the fears, reminding himself that ghosts and monsters weren't real.

It was well past 2 a.m. when he felt the need to use the restroom, which was at the end of the hall. The hotel had an open-air design, with the hall overlooking the forest. After finishing up, he glanced out the window and froze. The moonlit scenery, which was supposed to be beautiful and serene, held a disturbing anomaly. An animal with its mouth covered in blood was standing in the distance. The darkness and fog made it impossible to identify the creature, but Vedant didn't care what it was. He bolted back to his room, locked the door, and scrambled into bed, his heart pounding in his chest.

As he caught his breath, he desperately tried to find a logical explanation for what he had just seen. Was his subconscious mind playing tricks on him? He told himself this was the most plausible answer. "This fits perfectly," he muttered, "I guess I need to get some sleep." With that, he drifted off.

He woke up early the next morning, ready for the day's planned tourist sights and beach visits—the very reason they had traveled to Brazil. Feeling a bit mischievous, Vedant tried to scare his little sister with a story about "a bloodthirsty monster," but she just laughed at him. He was relieved that his night of terror seemed to be over.
