Chapter 2 - First Day in The Palace (1)

The air tasted fresh. The warm ray of sunlight enveloping my skin as I walked side to Liona. Honestly, I felt like a dwarf next to her. She's like a head taller than me. Her posture was straight, there were no weaknesses.

"So, what exactly did you dream about during the two years that you were asleep?" She asked. Her voice still bitter.

"I would rather... Not talk about it" This was the best response I could come up with.

She raised an eyebrow.

"I won't pry."

I wasn't expecting that. I thought she would pull her blade on me.

"Many thanks." Still, I can't let my guard down.

—Woof woof!

I turned to see a small puppy running towards us. Liona knelt to its level and scooped it up.

She turned to look at me, glaring.

I get it! I won't touch it or anything, just don't glare at me like that

I looked away.

"What's its name?" I asked, curious.

"Why? Suddenly interested in the dog that you despised so much you had to kick it?" She shot back, her eyes still attacking me.

Sorrelll!!!

"Well, whatever." Wow! Clap clap! Sounds like she's quite understanding!

"Tia. Its name is Tia." Liona said softly, letting the strictness fall from her voice for once.

"The servants must have informed your Father that you had awoken." She's good at changing the topic—I'll give her that.

"You should visit him." Liona spoke in a soft tone. "Forgive me. A mere knight commander like me couldn't possibly tell the Prince to do something." She sounded quite bitter.

Could it be—She's a tsundere?

I grinned unconsciously.

Liona looked at me like I was some kind of power-hungry prince that was planning to dismember his father. But whyyyy?

We reached to a door. A door that will lead to the highest authority in this kingdom. I wonder what his name is?

"Commander of The Imperial Knights—Liona Volt, has escorted The 3rd Prince—Sorrel Valdren, and would like to humbly request Your Majesty's permission to enter the room."

I noticed a drop of sweat on her face. It seemed like the emperor was the only person she's scared of.

"Enter." A deep, stiff voice spoke from inside the room.

Liona's right hand moved towards the handle of the door. She was shaking but I don't think an ordinary person could've noticed that.

The door opened with a loud, creaking noise.

"Sorrel, my son."

I was greeted by a rather young looking man...?

His gaze was definitely sharp but he didn't look like the muscular type. His green eyes were befitting of an emperor. He didn't have any wrinkles on his face either.

He looked in Liona's way to say,

"The young Volt may leave."

Before turning to the door to leave, she bowed at the emperor. She then closed the door gently—It seems she knew the way she opened the door was too loud and disrespectful.

"So, who are you?" The emperor glared at me.
