Chapter 44 - CHAPTER - 44 BETWEEN DEATH AND DESTINY

Snehwal looked at Lily, who was still lying in his arms.

He gently placed his trembling hand on her face — fear ran through his heart.

Lily lay unconscious, her body motionless, appearing almost lifeless.

Snehwal pulled her close to his chest and began to cry.

At that moment, he saw no way out — until Master Jins placed a hand on his shoulder and said softly,

"She can still be saved."

Snehwal looked up instantly, desperate.

"Tell me — how?" he demanded.

Jins hesitated for a moment before replying,

"You can save her using your spiritual energy…

but it might cost you your life.

It won't be easy."

Those words brought back flashes in Snehwal's mind —

memories of the time he had once saved Lily before.

Determined, he laid Lily down carefully,

placed both hands on her chest,

and began transferring his spiritual energy into her.

After a while, Snehwal's vision started to blur,

his head spinning —

but Lily remained motionless.

Snehwal screamed,

"Nothing will happen to you — you hear me!?"

He continued to pour his energy into her body.

Soon, as his power flowed through her veins,

Lily's inner wounds reacted — and blood began to flow from her mouth.

Snehwal's body trembled; the dizziness grew worse.

Seeing this, Liora's eyes filled with tears —

she turned away and walked toward the edge of the lake, unable to watch.

With a trembling voice, Snehwal asked,

"There's no other way… is there?"

Master Jins sighed and replied,

"No. We can't help her directly. We can't transfer our spiritual energy by will — only you can.If she regains consciousness, then she can use our energy herself."

The night slowly passed.

By morning, the sand near the lake shimmered under the sunlight.

Standing by the water's edge, Liora clasped her hands in prayer —

hoping, with all her heart, that nothing would happen to Snehwal.

Snehwal was completely drained — every drop of his energy was gone.

He collapsed beside Lily, unconscious and motionless.

Master Jins panicked.

"No… this shouldn't have happened!"

Liora rushed to Snehwal,

gathered him in her arms,

and broke down in tears.

Jins lifted his gaze toward the sky, his voice trembling.

"O guardian of fate…

show some mercy upon this child.

Barely twenty years of life —

and all of it filled with suffering…

Why? Why is the whole world against her?"

Liora held Snehwal tightly,

tears streaming endlessly down her cheeks.

She screamed,

"Why did you give your life away… why!?"

But then —

a faint glow appeared between Snehwal's brows,

as if a spark had ignited deep within his sea of consciousness.

Inside that inner realm,

the second fragment of Snehwal's soul was waiting.

He approached it and said firmly,

"Now… it's your turn."

At those words, the still fragment of his half-soul awakened —

and returned to his body.

The next moment,

Snehwal's eyes slowly opened.

He found himself lying in Liora's lap,

and seeing the flood of tears on her face,

he said nothing —

he simply stood up in a rush and knelt beside Lily once more.

Placing both hands on her chest,

he began channeling spiritual energy into her again.

Master Jins watched in disbelief, his eyes widening.

He whispered,

"This… how is this possible?

He was already… gone."

Snehwal murmured, "I will kill them all. I wasn't fully awake until now — before I lived carefreely, without any fear — but now the death of those three is necessary."

Liora said softly, "Not three — four. Now Humbha Yakshini will come after you too."

Snehwal looked at Liora; there was a blood-like fire in his eyes. Seeing this, Liora stepped back in fear and whispered, "Because she was the one who sent Kyra and Nayla, and now she is dead — soon you will have to face her."

Snehwal ground his teeth and said, "Then she will have to face me."

At that moment, the smallest finger on Lily's right hand moved slightly — both Liora and Jins saw it. Snehwal did not notice; he was only fanning the fire in his mind. That fire had now turned into hatred — the Snehwal who once lived in merriment had become stern and serious.

On the other side, Jury, Shon, and Lith — the three Yakshinis — were overflowing with joy.

They sat together in a tavern among several humans, laughing, chatting, and celebrating.

They felt no sorrow over losing their hosts — instead, they were rejoicing over the deaths of Lily and her companions.

That night, the three swayed in drunken delight —

sometimes lying across the tables, laughing aloud,

sometimes bursting into fits of laughter among the drunken men.

The men were overjoyed watching them,

for the Yakshinis had become the source of their amusement.

The three looked at one another, sharing that feeling of satisfaction —

as if they had fulfilled their purpose in this world.
