Chapter 28 - Plotting (2k)

Let's address some misconceptions.

One, despite popular belief, the Xianzhou Alliance Arbiter-Generals are in fact, not emanators.

This is due to Acheron's ambiguous wording and the rating pistol.

Lets first address the Rating Pistol, the Rating Pistol's "unable to determine" doesn't in fact mean that the person it is trying to rate is an emanator. The rating pistol rates 2 characters who are decidedly not emanators as "unable to determine", being Luchoa and Sampo.

It also gives a rating to a confirmed emanator, Herta, before it is threatened into giving a higher score. In this case, the Rating Pistol's rating of "unable to determine" for the Arbiter-Generals is the same as why it gives a "unable to determine" score for Luocha. Luocha carries around a part of the corpse of the Swarm Author's (Propagation Aeons) remains.

The Arbiter-Generals are all bonded with Radiant Spirits, given to each Arbiter-General by Lan. This means that the Radiant Spirits, not the Arbiter-Generals, are Emanators, the power is given to the Radiant Spirits and Radiant Spirits can actually change who they are bonded with, the Radiant Spirit is bound to the position of Arbiter-General, not the person.

This explains why they aren't around all the time, presumably they hang out in the Path Space whenever they are not needed, and teleport to the side of the Arbiter-General when they require assistance.

Acheron's ambiguous wording in the English translation led most to believe that these people were emanators, when they were in fact not.

The only emanator in the entire game we see up close and personal is Acheron, who displays her ability to travel between worlds freely. Oh and I guess Sunday for like one boss fight, so we never got the chance to see if he could.

Interesting choices of wording by the English translation team also lead many to believe that the HSR universe consists of only a single galaxy, the Milky-Way galaxy, however in the original Chinese, it is described as the "Milky-Way Universe" and what was translated into English as "Star Cluster" is usually Galaxy in Chinese.

Many people mistakenly believe that the Honkai: Impact 3rd universe powerscales higher than the Honkai: Star Rail universe. This is completely untrue.

While it is true that the Honkai: Impact 3rd universe possesses many powerful people, those people are certainly not stronger than the strongest in the Honkai: Star Rail universe. The emanators of destruction are described as being capable of destroying Galaxies, and apparently frequently do so, Nanook is seen as giving out power much more freely than other Aeons, but that doesn't mean that Emanators aren't too far behind the Emanators of Destruction.

It's just that you never really see the true scale of what emanators are capable of in Honkai: Star Rail, since they never really interact with each other or the player character.

The Cocoon of Finality itself, is described as only being on the level of a "Throne Level Emanator", despite its ability to parasitize the Imaginary Tree.

The Aeons essentially hold the "Highest Level" access permissions for the imaginary tree. The reason why Otto had to work so hard to manipulate the imaginary tree was because of Hooh, the Aeon of Equilibrium.

"...HooH the Equilibrium. THEY are one of the oldest Aeons. The reason behind THEIR division into two halves remains beyond my comprehension. THEY separate concepts, splitting all beings into an interchangeable duality, thus fusing all "positives" and "negatives" in the universe into an equilibrial whole. THEY are always so symmetrical and so equal."

The "Branch" of Honkai: Impact 3rd doesn't just consist of the Sol system. In fact, the Cocoon of Finality parasitizes the entire "Branch". The Sky People, who are from the same "Branch" as Earth in the Honkai: Impact 3rd universe, are described as having somehow defeated the Honkai on their world. In addition, they also raided the homeworld of the Sugars, who had to abandon their physical forms to escape their planet, which was also ravaged by the Honkai.

The form the sugars take, described as a "Psychic Form", is remarkably similar to the memetic form of a Memokeeper, presumably that makes it so that all "Psychic Type" attacks work in a similar way to that of a Memokeeper, I.E. through meme manipulation.

No, not those memes, meme as in an element of culture or behavior passed through nongenetic means.

The Authority of Sentience, parasitized from the Imaginary Tree, presumably works in the same way as a remembrance pathstriders abilities. Which reminds me to be careful of the Key of Sentience.

Not all imaginary space that is "Outside" the "Branches" are created equal, when Otto entered the "Dev Room" he triggered the defence mechanism of the Imaginary Tree, however that isn't necessarily the case for all outside spaces, presumably I should be able to enter a "Unused" outside Imaginary Space and not trigger the defence mechanism of the imaginary tree, especially since I have the "Access Token" of being a pathstrider, even if not an emanator, I can be considered an "Employee" of the Imaginary Tree, to mix metaphors.

Now, how exactly do I get to this "Outside" space? Presumably by using the authority of space, through Kiana or through the 2nd Divine Key.

I know that Divine Keys can work with Imaginary energy in some kind of way. After all, Welt in HSR still uses a replica of the Star of Eden(Starry Harmony/Key of Devouring/9th Divine Key), and presumably he isn't using Honkai energy to power it since he no longer has a Herrscher core.

The core of a Divine Key, while still capable of expressing authority, has a dead imaginary singularity. This means that it cannot create its own Honkai Energy, which has to be provided.

Either Divine Keys have some kind of inherent compatibility, or it was modified to be capable of accepting Trailblaze path energy as a power source by someone like Herta.

After all, with my inability to wield Honkai energy, I might technically be unable to use the 2nd Divine Key without someone else present.

In addition, I realised that I was also completely unable to use the Jizo Matama, the Key of Corruption, if I was to acquire it.

Some divine keys are described as connecting to its wielder, only after this connection exists can the Divine Key be used. I am unaware however if this is the case for all Divine Keys, or just weapon type Divine Keys. I cannot see something like the S.A.V.E Project Environmental Repair Satellite (Key of Wind) wouldn't be possible.

Due to the fact that it is described as a "Imaginary Singularity", I am hoping that I can just pump imaginary energy directly into the core.

I don't really have the full plan worked out yet, but I am hoping the less strenuous requirements of only needing to get "Outside" without trying to get to a specific location ("Dev Room") are within the capabilities of the 2nd Divine Key, otherwise, I might have to pull off my own "Thus Spoke Apocalypse".

This isn't really my thing, I only know the general details, not the underlying math and physics, and metaphysics involved. I definitely need to work with people like Otto and Dr. Nagamitsu.

So, first things first, Fu Hua.

This of course meant that I actually had to find them. I hoped it didn't take very long, I didn't really want to actually have to go back to school.

It was currently March 3rd, and the new semester started April 2nd. Theresa had decided against putting us directly into a class that only had one and a half weeks left in the year, so we got an extra mini vacation in addition to the usual Japanese 2 week spring vacation.

Someone waved their hand in front of me, "Hello? Earth to Lee? You plotting or something?" Kiana said.

Getting up from the couch, I simply responded "Yes."

We were done with getting the uniforms ordered and the tour of the school campus. Of course the actual uniforms wouldn't be done until tomorrow, and it was already very late, around 8pm.

The beds had been delivered and installed, along with 2 desks and 2 dressers in each room.

Himeko, now our apartment, was clean, with all of Himeko's stuff packed up properly into her bedroom or closets. As it turned out, all in all it wasn't that much stuff, it was just packaged so poorly that it took up so many boxes.

Now we were all just hanging around the apartment, Mei was in the shower, Bronya was messing around with her new computer in our joint room, Himeko was in her room doing… whatever she did, and I was sitting on the couch with Kiana, before she had started annoying me.

Well, I had nothing better to do so I decided that I might as well cook some food.

As shocking as it is, I actually am a functional human being, so I can in fact cook food.

The small campus grocery store had surprised me. For an academy on a remote island, it was surprisingly well-stocked, fresh vegetables, meat, spices, and even imported ingredients from all over the world. I had picked up a few things during the afternoon tour, figuring they might come in handy later. Turns out I was right.

The kitchen, though, was another matter. The pots and pans were pristine, not a single scratch or burn mark in sight. Some still had the factory stickers on them. I doubted Himeko had ever used any of this.

Kiana leaned against the counter, watching me with the intensity of a cat staring down a laser pointer. "Sooo, what are you making?"

"Dinner," I said.

"Yeah, but what kind of dinner?"

"Pasta. Spicy."

She tilted her head. "Like, hot spicy or flavorful spicy?"

"Yes."

Kiana groaned dramatically. "You're so cryptic. Are you sure you know what you're doing?"

I didn't answer, mostly because I didn't feel like saying anything, and I was rather enjoying being cryptic recently. Instead, I set a pot of water on the stove and added salt. While it heated, I chopped garlic, onions, and a small pile of red peppers. The air started to sting pleasantly as they hit the pan with a sharp hiss, oil crackling under the heat.

Kiana coughed, waving a hand in front of her face. "It's burning my eyes! Are you trying to assassinate me before dinner?"

"Just making sure your sinuses are clear." I stirred the mix until it browned, then added diced tomatoes and the sauce base. The smell filled the room, sharp, warm, a little dangerous.

Kiana hovered beside me as I drained the pasta and tossed it into the sauce. I plated two servings, sprinkled them with herbs, and turned toward her.

"Is it done? Is it finally done?" she asked, practically bouncing.

"Yes," I said, picking up both bowls.

"Wait, what about mine, hey!"

I ignored her and walked off toward my room.

Bronya was there, sitting cross-legged on her bed with her laptop open and a cable running from it to Project Bunny, which stood quietly beside her. The mechanical hum from the machine mixed oddly with the faint sound of the shower running down the hall.

She looked up as I entered. "Lee?"

"Dinner," I said, handing her one of the bowls.

Her expression didn't change, however she seemed to relax a little. "Thank you." She took a bite without hesitation, and immediately froze.

"Ah," I said, realizing the problem too late. "Sorry. I forgot that's… very spicy. I usually make it that way."

Bronya's eyes watered just a little, but she shook her head. "It is acceptable. I can handle it."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." She took another bite, slower this time, and nodded. "It's good."

I smiled faintly and sat on my own bed with my own bowl.
