[First time defeating a Pokémon Raticate, rewarded with 1 lottery chance]

[First time inviting a companion to join the team, rewarded with 1 lottery chance]

There were two messages on the notification bar, also marked with times: one appeared when Ash first commanded Pikachu to defeat Rattata, and the other was after Misty agreed to join his team.

"First time... It seems that many 'firsts' can grant lottery chances. I just don't know what other 'firsts' can give me lottery chances. I'll ask the big shots in the group when I have time."

Ash murmured, then mentally clicked on the roulette wheel to start the lottery.

This time, the roulette wheel was a bit different; it had a "two-consecutive draws" option added to it.

It must be said, this lottery was quite intelligent; even two draws could be consecutive.

Ash clicked on the "two-consecutive draws" without hesitation, and immediately a second pointer appeared on the roulette wheel, and both pointers began to spin wildly.

"Stop."

The pointers on the roulette wheel slowed down, and after a few seconds, they came to a complete stop.

One of the pointers landed in a very narrow area—the A-rank area.

The other pointer stopped in a wider area—the C-rank area.

Two consecutive draws, one A and one C. Non-Chief Ash, upon seeing such odds, would probably be in tears!

He had drawn over a hundred times, but hadn't even gotten a B-rank. Ash, with only three draws, had already gotten one S, one A, and one C.

No matter how dull Ash was, he could tell that his luck on this roulette wheel seemed a bit invincible.

[Congratulations on drawing A-rank ability: Insight Eye (A)]

[Congratulations on drawing C-rank ability: Speed Limit Increase (C)]

Unlike the first Aura Power, this time the lottery didn't elaborate much afterwards. It merely informed him of the abilities he had drawn. As for their uses and how to use them, Ash knew nothing.

There were no instructional light spots in his mind like there were for Aura Power, so how was he supposed to use these things?

Asking questions when he didn't understand was Ash's excellent virtue. He directly opened the chat group and went to ask the big shots there.

[Newbie Ash: Everyone, I've drawn Insight Eye (A) and Speed Limit (C). Which two big shots do these abilities belong to?]

[Non-Chief Ash: No way, bro! How many times have you drawn?! You got an A-rank ability again?! Did you draw a hundred times in one go?]

[Newbie Ash: No, I only drew twice.]

[Non-Chief Ash: ...]

NMD WSM!!

Someone else gets an A-rank in two draws, while I don't even get a C in ten consecutive draws. Is this probability reasonable? Is it reasonable?! Is there some shady business going on?! Who is the creator of this broken chat group?! I'm going to kill him!!

Non-Chief Ash roared in impotent rage in his own world. If he could leave the group, he probably would have already left and isolated himself.

[Breeder Ash: Your luck is truly divine. Is this the unique beginner's good fortune?]

[Aura Hero Ash: You know, it's true. Once we joined the group, we're considered old. The only true newcomer seems to be the newly joined 'me.' So all the newcomers' good fortune is concentrated on this 'me,' isn't it?]

[Champion Ash: That makes a lot of sense. But actually, besides abilities above A-rank, other drawn abilities aren't very useful to us. But I have to say, the newcomer is really lucky! Even that C-rank ability is the most useful among C-rank items.]

[Newbie Ash: So what exactly did I draw?]

[Breeder Ash: That A-rank ability is my ability. As a top Breeder, I've cultivated a pair of unmatched eyes. Just by looking at any Pokémon, I can get all of its data, and I can even Detect what skills it possesses.]

[Breeder Ash: However, the ability you obtained is only A-rank, so it shouldn't be my full ability. I don't know what level an A-rank can achieve, but at least it should be able to see the upper limit of a Pokémon's ability value potential.]

[Newbie Ash: What is the ability value potential limit?]

[Breeder Ash: Pokémon have different strength levels, but actually, within the same level, ability values also differ. According to the chat group's lottery grading, I've also divided ability value grading into S to E ranks.]

[Breeder Ash: For example, if two Pikachus are both Champion-level, but one Pikachu's speed ability value is A-rank and the other is S-rank, then the latter will be much faster than the former in terms of regular speed, and by a lot!]

[Breeder Ash: Generally speaking, a Pokémon's level can be improved through daily training, breeding, and battle experience. Speed varies, but as long as you put your heart and effort into treating your Pokémon, they will eventually bear fruit for you, and ultimately they will all reach the top level of Champion.]

[Breeder Ash: But ability values are different. The upper limit of ability values is generally fixed. Some Pokémon, even if their level reaches Champion-level, their ability value in the same-level evaluation can only reach E-rank. This is what outsiders refer to as a Pokémon's potential.]

Ash felt a bit dizzy listening, but he somehow understood what Breeder Ash meant.

In short, the upper limit of all Pokémon's strength levels is almost the same. If the Champion level is the top level in the world, then all Pokémon can stand at the Champion level—theoretically.

However, each Pokémon's ability value upper limit is different at the same level, restricted by its potential.

Some Pokémon are naturally strong, so that Pokémon's strength ability value upper limit is A. Ordinary Pokémon's strength ability value upper limit is only B or even C; they cannot reach A-rank.

According to Breeder Ash, at the same level, a one-rank difference in ability value would already cause a relatively large gap.

[Breeder Ash: But nothing is absolute. Nature is full of all sorts of magical things, and Pokémon themselves are beings with infinite potential. My Insight Eye has seen more than once that some Pokémon whose ability potential was clearly only C-rank, yet their ability value forcibly broke through to B-rank.]

[Breeder Ash: And in most cases, these Pokémon that break through their limits all have a Trainer who cares for them meticulously, treating them as their own. This is a miracle jointly created by a Trainer and their Pokémon!]

A Pokémon's potential has an upper limit, but the Pokémon itself represents infinite potential. Under the miraculous power of bonds, mere limits are something a Pokémon will break for you!

This is what is meant by: there are no useless Pokémon, only useless Trainers!
