Perona's cheeks suddenly flushed as she looked at Carina, transformed from a loli into an onee-san.
Even though she was in a human-beast form, and I don't even have that kind of kink—why is my heart racing?
Nami was just as shaken as Perona.
"The fox-spirit really turned into a fox-spirit—how can she be this pretty? So unfair!"
Gazing at Carina's astonishing curves, Nami spoke with open envy.
If she'd had a handkerchief in her hand, she would've been biting it by now.
Only Robin, with nerves of steel, kept her composure and said, "It should be the Nine-Tailed Fox's enchantment ability."
"Mm." Yami nodded with a smile. "So the Mythical Nine-Tailed Fox form can even make someone bigger."
This "bigger" meant not just a larger body, but an older appearance as well.
Yami wasn't surprised.
Mythical Zoans are that special.
Compared to Nika's awakening carrying both Paramecia and Zoan traits, Carina's trait is downright ordinary.
"Ufufufu… Master, Robin-nee, I think I'm taller than you now."
As the newly minted onee-san, Carina paced over with silent, graceful steps, lifted a hand to compare their heights, and let out her signature laugh.
"Even your voice sounds lovelier—does it also carry a bewitching effect?" Robin asked curiously.
"Mhm." Carina nodded, smiling. "Not just my voice—my figure and aura have a charming effect too."
"And that's only the passive charm. My active skill is even stronger… poof!"
A puff of pink smoke appeared out of nowhere and wrapped around Carina.
When the smoke cleared, Carina was gone.
Standing before them was… Robin.
"The enchantment transformation recorded in the Devil Fruit encyclopedia? It's really convincing," Robin murmured, a little impressed—as if looking into a mirror.
"Ufufufu… aside from not being able to use their abilities, I can become anyone—clothes, height, even the voice can be exactly the same," said Carina-as-Robin, using Robin's voice for her unique laugh.
Staring at the two identical Robins, Yami, as if affected by Carina's charm, suddenly felt a tickle in his heart.
Powerful or not aside, one thing was certain: once Carina came of age, Yami would be the happiest man in the world.
At this rate, Carina would overtake Robin and Nami in no time and occupy first place in Yami's heart.
"Amazing. I can't spot a flaw even with Observation Haki," Nami said, clicking her tongue as she circled around Carina. "So long as you don't fight, this transformation could completely pass for the real thing."
"By the way… legends call the Nine-Tailed Fox 'golden-furred and jade-faced', right?" Perona suddenly asked. "Why is Carina a white fox?"
"Because Carina is in her human-beast form," Robin, ever the scholar, explained before the Fox-Fruit user could. "Golden-furred, jade-faced points to two traits—beast form and human-beast form."
"In legend, the Nine-Tailed Fox is a special fox that, upon reaching the highest stage of evolution, grows nine tails. Its body fur becomes golden, while the fur on the face turns white."
"'Golden-furred' is the beast-form trait."
"'Jade-faced' can be understood as the white, flawless face—the legends say that once transformed into human shape, the Nine-Tailed Fox becomes an exquisitely beautiful, irresistibly enchanting woman. Carina shifting from girl to this should be the 'jade-faced' trait."
"Legend made real through the human-beast form—hence the white 'jade face' in human-beast form."
"I see!" Perona and Nami said, suddenly enlightened.
"Robin-nee is right. My full beast form is a golden Nine-Tailed Fox."
Dropping the mimicry, Carina dipped her head, then her body began to change again.
From the white human-beast form, her coloration shifted—visibly—to gold.
At the same time Carina grew larger, her stance lowering into a quadrupedal beast's posture.
The few remaining human traits vanished completely as her size stopped increasing.
A few breaths later, a massive Nine-Tailed Fox—gold from head to tail, only the facial fur white, pupils still golden slits, crimson eye-shadow at the corners—crouched before Yami and the others.
"So big!"
Looking up at the nearly ten-meter-tall Nine-Tailed Fox, Nami blurted out in awe.
"Only 'so big'?" Carina replied smugly in her beast form. "My stamina's not enough yet—otherwise I could get bigger. I might even end up larger than the Pegasus."
"For real? That's over the top!" Nami and Perona widened their eyes; Nami couldn't help grumbling, "Mythical Zoans really are rarer than Logias. Compared to a Mythical Zoan, my Rumble-Rumble Fruit suddenly doesn't feel so special."
Robin and Carina didn't react; Perona couldn't help rolling her eyes at Nami.
Just then Yami looked at Carina and asked, "Besides charm, how many abilities did you awaken?"
"Yeah, yeah…" Nami, who had been checking the encyclopedia for the basics, looked at Carina with bright expectation. "Foxy one, did you awaken the Nine-Tailed Fox's elemental powers?"
"Mhm. I've got them."
Carina shifted back to her human-beast form, raised a fox-clawed hand, and smiled. "Wind, fire, lightning, and cloud—I can use all four."
As she spoke, her paw was suddenly wreathed in flame.
When the flames vanished, a tiny whirlwind hovered above her hand.
Then came blue-white current, and finally a white cloud that could fuse with fire, storm, and lightning.
That last cloud made Nami leap for joy. "Yes! With the fox-spirit's thunderclouds backing me up, I can develop the 'Ten Thousand Thunders,' 'Thunder Summons,' and a true 'Falling Thunder' like Master said!"
"From now on, the two of us together will absolutely be the strongest pair on the Grand Line!"
