It wasn't just Gen herself who was doubting, the other people present also looked at her with eyes full of distrust.
Although this woman looked very different from what she looked like more than a week ago, of course it's not just that she has become wheat-colored, but the main thing is that she doesn't look so crazy anymore.
Just now when talking about rescuing the "machine", she seemed to be a little hostile to Finch, but overall she was still within the normal range, no longer looking like she had believed in some cult.
But after all, it was only a little over a week ago, and although everyone had always had confidence in Jack, they really didn't have any confidence in Gen at all. You know, this guy was sent here in a restraint suit.
"It's okay. Think of it as a test. Of course, it's a one-shot deal."
Jack smiled mysteriously. "I've found you a partner who will also be your supervisor."
"Supervisor?" Gen asked with an intrigued expression. "Are you sure someone can keep an eye on me?"
"You're overthinking it," Jack said with a rather malicious smile. "If you break our agreement, she'll kill you without hesitation."
Hannah pouted, and Jiejie also looked a bit grumpy. They both guessed who Jack had assigned Gen as their partner.
As soon as they mentioned the enemy, they appeared. With the roar of a sports car engine approaching, the doorbell to the base building rang.
Before Jack could even get up to open the door, Hannah stepped forward, revealing a pair of legs longer than the average human lifespan, clad in stiletto heels at least ten centimeters long.
As her gaze moved upward, she saw shorts and a tight T-shirt that perfectly accentuated her figure. A thin silk blouse, worn loosely, had its sleeves tied in a bow at the waist, just enough to conceal her adorable belly button.
Anna lifted a pile of shopping bags high in her hands and flirted at Hannah. "These are all new items coming out at this fall's Fashion Week."
"Come in," Hannah sneered back, not reaching for her belongings, but still making room for the door.
Although she hated to admit it, Jack's decision to pair Anna with him was a sound one; she was sure to completely dominate her.
While
the girls were "bonding" downstairs, Jack took Finch upstairs. Today was their previously agreed-upon treatment day. Soon, someone's miserable cries of pain could be heard from upstairs.
"Oh no! Jack! Stop it! Mr. Tavola! Is it too late for me to regret this now? Are you sure you won't make me bedridden for the rest of my life? Ah! Ouch!"
An hour later, when the two men returned to their homes, Finch, though still stiff-necked and limping, looked revitalized, his steps brisker.
As agreed, for the next two weeks, Finch would return daily for chiropractic and acupuncture treatments. He would then undergo a comprehensive examination at HSS (Hospital for Special Surgery), New York's premier orthopedic medical center, where a leading physician would assess whether to remove the spinal brace.
During this time, Root would go undercover with Special Prosecutor Burton,
while Reese would investigate the whereabouts of his former superior, Mark Snow. The members of the Most Wanted Squad would take turns shadowing Agent Hersh, attempting to gather information about the Intelligence Support Operations Division through him.
"Aha, sounds like everyone has something to do except me and Bear." Fusco teased the dog but looked unhappy. "You guys will be busy, and I'll be the only one sitting on the bench."
Danny didn't come today because the Reagan family had been incredibly busy. While Frank Reagan's future as New York City mayor was practically a sure thing when he announced his candidacy for the special election, he still had to
do everything necessary: visit grassroots organizations, canvass for voters, participate in various televised debates, and, of course, attend numerous political dinners.
While Danny wasn't particularly enthusiastic about this kind of thing, his wife, Linda, was delighted. At least the excitement hadn't worn off yet.
After all, as the eldest daughter-in-law in the Reagan family, she hadn't received much in the way of honor, but she had given so much.
The women of the previous two generations of the Reagan family had passed away. Old Henry was in his early 80s, but Frank Reagan was still in his prime, a widower with a free and unfettered private life.
While not having a mother-in-law to look after him was certainly a blessing, his father-in-law wasn't interested in remarrying, leaving the family without a mistress. This meant that all the "internal affairs" of the extended family fell solely on Linda, the eldest daughter-in-law.
Women are all a bit vain. The Reagan family is now a beloved hive of affection in New York's upper crust, with constant invitations to charitable dinners. How could Danny let his wife attend alone? So, he's been incredibly busy lately.
"Please, you guys must have something I need to do? All I've been doing lately is shuttling this dog back and forth between the library and here," Fusco continued to complain.
"No, I just got a number. A girl in Brooklyn is in trouble. I need you to handle it. She looks like a victim. I'll send you her information right now."
Finch's fingers were twirling rapidly on his phone.
Fusco, still looking annoyed, pulled out his beeping phone and continued to complain. "So, you all have important things to do, like agents, undercovers, and so on, and I have to deal with..."
His rambling suddenly stopped, and he stared blankly at the photos that popped up on the screen, his eyes nearly popping out.
"Is this the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show?" Jack leaned over curiously, only to see a photo of a beautiful woman wearing the show's signature fantasy bra.
"Yes, Karolina Kurkova, we usually call her 'KK'. She's the youngest model to walk the Victoria's Secret runway as a non-Angel and wear the fantasy bra 'Victoria Star'."
Professional Anna recognized the girl in the photo immediately. "I heard she had to retire from the fashion industry last year due to health reasons, but there are rumors that she's been entangled with Armenian gangs."
"I'll go rescue her right away." Fusco suddenly stood up, startling the dog "Little Bear" who was playing around his legs.
"Don't worry, this is just boring protection work. Maybe I can find you something more exciting," Jack deliberately shouted from behind him.
"No need. There's an innocent poor person who needs help right now. I have no choice but to help." Detective "Bean" straightened his shirt and walked out with an unstoppable momentum.
