Chapter 269 - Chapter 1110: Prison break plan

Nowadays, all offices are electronic. Although high-tech such as AI has not been used yet, comparing lists is not that complicated.

Cassel was obviously not proficient in using Excel spreadsheets, and Jack did not expect him to be able to help in this regard, but running errands to buy coffee and afternoon tea was indeed what he was good at.

As the sky gradually darkened, the results came out. Everyone was surprised to find that they did not find any records of Dr. Monroe's visit to the prison, but found an unexpected person.

"Nurse Greg? Are you sure?" Cassel bit half a donut and asked vaguely.

"And for the past three years, he has visited a female prisoner named Amy Porter at the Women's Prison in Bedford Hills every week."

Jack spread out the printed information on the table. There was a photo of the prisoner on it. She was a very lovely brown-haired beauty who looked to be in her early 20s.

"She was convicted of aiding the getaway driver in an attempted armored car robbery and sentenced to 30 years in prison.

A guard was shot and killed during the robbery, and Greg served as a character witness during her trial."

"You're saying they were actually a couple?" Castle suddenly realized.

"Hmm." Beckett tilted his head at him, signaling that it was time for the great writer to use his imagination, and Castle didn't disappoint.

"Dr. Monroe was investigating medical fraud and a possible drug smuggling ring at the county hospital. She might have discovered that Greg was secretly stealing pills from the hospital and smuggling them to Amy in prison."

"And then Amy sold them inside the prison," Beckett added. The illegal sale of drugs in low-security prisons was a very lucrative business.

"So my guess is correct." Cassel suddenly became arrogant. "Greg does have impure motives. He is not the warm man we thought he was. He became good friends with those female doctors just to take advantage of them."

"Esposito, contact the warden of Bedford Hills Prison and ask him to send someone to search Amy's cell immediately and bring her to us for questioning." Esposito

nodded after hearing Beckett's order and immediately picked up the telephone receiver on the table.

But two minutes later, the Latino detective put down the phone with a strange expression on his face and looked at everyone, "The prison said that Amy Porter had a stroke early this morning!"

This time even Jack looked at him in surprise, "The information said that she was only 25 years old and weighed less than 120 pounds. Stroke? Seriously?"

Esposito nodded innocently, "And they said they have sent the prisoner to the county hospital."

"County hospital?" Cassel expressed his confusion, "Why send her here? Isn't there a hospital near the prison?"

Beckett could obviously answer this question, "Because only the county hospital has a safe ward nearby, but Greg happens to work there. Isn't it too much of a coincidence."

"Obviously this is not a coincidence." Jack took out the car keys, "What we are dealing with is not medical fraud, but a long-planned jailbreak."

-

In the county hospital, Beckett found a female doctor with a cane, "Dr. Phillips, do you have a female patient named Amy Porter who was transferred from the prison?"

"There was one before." The female doctor looked at the three hurried people with a surprised expression, not understanding why they were so anxious. "But she didn't make it. She died during the MRI scan."

"Dead?" The events unfolded, time and again, beyond everyone's expectations.

Jack turned and left, "Notify Kevin and Esposito to immediately seal off all hospital entrances and exits. We're going to the morgue."

Ten minutes later, a hospital staff member, urged by the three, opened the freezer. As the body bag was pulled open, the body of a black woman in her 50s was revealed.

Beckett still had Amy Porter's photo in hand, ready for comparison, but that was clearly no longer necessary.

---

Late at night, a group of NYPD detectives, Jack the FBI agent, Mr. Writer, and Lanny, the medical examiner who had been called in for assistance, returned to the 12th Precinct one after another. They slumped exhausted in their seats, their eyes wide open.

"I can't believe this Greg has fooled everyone, including us FBI agents who are well versed in criminal psychology," Cassel said, earning Jack's middle finger.

"I admit that this guy is a genius and planned an amazing prison escape plan, but that doesn't mean Greg is the murderer of Dr. Monroe."

An FBI agent who is "proficient" in criminal psychology reminded, "Although Lanny said she figured out how Greg helped Amy escape from prison, he still has a very solid alibi for Dr. Monroe's murder."

"Maybe he has an accomplice." Cassel curled his lips, "Given that he was able to successfully 'charm' so many female doctors to become his indirect accomplices, it shouldn't be difficult to find another accomplice, right?"

"An accomplice who is willing to help him kill people?" Jack disagreed with his forced explanation, "None of those female doctors have slept with him, which shows that the relationship between Greg and Amy is quite sincere.

What kind of person can be so 'noble' as to bear the charge of murder for this young couple in order to help them be together?"

"Maybe it was just about the money," Castle tried to explain, but Beckett interrupted. "Esposito and Kevin are investigating Greg's finances. Let Lani explain how they pulled off this prison break."

Perhaps because she usually worked within the confines of her own office, Lani seemed slightly excited to be specially invited to explain the situation. She

pulled out the "Greg Galaxy" evidence board Kevin had prepared earlier and showed it to the group, circling it with her right hand.

"Every female doctor on this list who had a friendly relationship with Greg directly or indirectly aided Amy Porter's escape. The key to this was the drugs and the documents she needed to sign."

"Yes, we suspected that, but how did Greg actually do it? How did he successfully fake Amy's death?" Castle raised her hand and asked.

"First, pharmacist Lisa Ackerman secretly gave Greg a box of Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, a botulinum toxin-like ointment. A small dose can eliminate wrinkles.

But if you apply the entire tube to one cheek at once,"

Jack quickly replied, "it can cause temporary atrophy of facial muscles, simulating the symptoms of a stroke."

"Smart! A little red flower," said Teacher Lanny, pleased.
