Doctors and nurses in scrubs rushed through the brightly lit hospital corridor, their shoes squeaking against the polished tile. Adrian Blake stormed inside like a force of nature, carrying Raya's limp body in his arms. Her head rested against his chest, her skin frighteningly pale.
Blood covered the front of his black shirt, soaked through the fabric and clung to his skin. It stained his hands, his sleeves, and streaked across his face where he had brushed her hair back in panic. The metallic scent filled his nostrils with every step.
"Save her!" Adrian roared, his deep voice echoing through the emergency department like thunder. Heads turned. Staff froze for a split second. "Do whatever it takes! Now!"
A doctor in his forties hurried forward, stethoscope swinging around his neck. "Sir, we need you to put her down on the stretcher."
