As the camera is off, she sighed as the smile vanished. She is the reporter of Hunters tv, the TV channel for the hunter academy of defense. The national institute that trains people who has compatibility with mana and can become hunters.
The stage is set for the awakening. They will visit the tower in sapphire City and enter it, the students will be granted the status that allows them to grow beyond the limits of humanity and the allows them to climb the tower. As for the trait, many won't even care about that one.
It's use is very minute. Like a point increase in one of the stats or single digit percentage damage to skills, the increase is nothing more than 2-4%. That's why the trait is considered useless to most. But sometimes a few traits will be gifted once a century that are special.
Like the trait : elemental affinity given to Henry Percival that allows him to turn his spells to be 10% more effective. Or the Iron Blood trait that allows John Martin to use his berserk skill with very less cooldown and weakness, which almost erases the weakness of berserkers.
Then there is the Trait : Summoner's Greed, that Ren Sayako from Yamato Nation, that allows him to share senses with his summons and increases their power by 10%. From the Jade Empire, they are known as Braggarts with with extremely arrogant attitude and pride that looks down on whole world thinking Jade Empire is the best one in the world.
But in reality, they are hated by everyone because of their overheating attitude. When they face strong they will beg, and when they face weak they will try to rob. They even renamed their land from Nation to Empire. And they have an expert like the other three, known as the weakest of top ten experts.
Lin Chen, he has the Trait : Rune Mark, which increases his formation attacks that are used for sealing and control. Many doubted how he reached this level as the formations can he broken even by the ones in top twenty.
As for the other top ten, 2 are from the Ruby Nation, and 2 are from the Eagle Nation, Another 2 are from the Bear Nation. The Sapphire city is in Silver Province that belongs to the Ruby Nation. They share borders with the Jade Empire and have constant friction.
Both hate each other because the Jade Empire invasions failed over the year while the Ruby Nation critically injured the forces in the failed invasion. As a result, these two are in odds from many years.
Back to the story, today is the day a new batch of hunters will be selected by the tower. They will enjoy the player privileges. Even a low rank hunter will have th capital to live a good life.
Among the students standing in front of the tower, one boy is gripping the locket on his neck looking a little nervous.

As the Tower entrance opened everyone with high compatability to mana got teleported into a dark space. A beam of light shines on the boy and he felt something is injected into his body. He felt like something shackling has disappeared from him and unknown to him, the locket on him started shining.
Then it released golden glow that merged into the boy. Even he is clueless about this. The boy then appeared in a town with others. This is the novice stage of the newbies that's said to be easy. Kill few goblins, defend the town from their invasion to successfully passed the tutorial. The boy's name is Damian Vane.
His parents are hunters who disappeared mysteriously. They're not not very famous hunters and also not very powerful for other nations to target. They're maybe in upper-middle command in the hunters association which is considered above average in power list.
But Damian can't accept this, someone both his parents disappeared and the hunter association is like this. Damian clenched his fists looking at the town in front of him. Sometimes his parents used to discuss their journey as a story to his bedtime. As Damian walked through the streets, he first registered as a hunter by informing the receptionist there.
Don't see tower residents as NPC's. They're alive and real people, this town is constantly invaded by the Goblins. That's why this stage is for the novice, Goblins, Slimes, wolves are known as the weakest hunch in monsters. But Goblins are the most cunning among them and can be a nightmare for beginner hunters.
Especially with their paralysing darts. Some Goblin rangers hide and launch the paralysing darts as ambushes while you're fighting with the other goblins and Goblin archers are also a headache to deal with. Damian first took a look at his status. He is hoping for a good trait like the one top ten hunters in the world have. But what he didn't expect was when he is going to take a look at his status another system window appeared in front of him completely different from the one tower will give him.
