Li Chen decided to visit the library again to learn more about the new world he was in, having detoxified himself of the poison. This time, he followed the tags on the bookshelf and found a book with the title "Cultivation Guidelines".
He quickly read through the contents of the book. The more he read, the more he was surprised as he sighed in amazement—this was a true fantasy world.
He didn't expect himself to move into this world of power.
According to the book, people were able to cultivate because of the Qi in the air, and the more Qi they absorb, the more it will flow into their dantian and compound there; and when the dantian was full with Qi, they will experience a breakthrough to a higher rank.
The Qi in Longxuan Continent was limited, and so it took people years to attain a higher rank, and the more ranks you attain, the higher you can live. That was why when a child was able to run, he would be tested to know his capacity and introduced to the cultivation world. Most high-ranked cultivators used their powers to restore their youthfulness, making it impossible to know their true age.
Speaking of ranks, there were numerous ranks, the least being red spiritual power; the grades in sequence: Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Yellow, Purple, Gold, and then invisible power. The invisible power was the rank of the immortals. Their powers were impossible to see, and they could kill any Gold spirit power holder in minutes.
In the Longxuan Continent, people could only reach Green spirit power, and there were few masters who had reached Green but were poached by the king. If anyone was able to break through to orange, they were eligible to move to the middle realm. The middle realm was a world of difference from the lower realm.
The lower realm had several continents, cities, and ancient towns in it. The middle realm had various clans, and cultures, and inheritances there. It was said that when an immortal appeared in the middle realm, they gave inheritances to the people of the middle realm.
Amongst the ranks, there was low tier, middle tier, and high tier. The Masters who had obtained Green spirit power only had low tier; it was not anything strong as compared to the middle realm, but it was enough for them to lift their noses high and trample upon people, typical of the strong rules of the world.
With cultivation, people could do a lot or become a lot in the world. People could become alchemists—this requires spiritual energy known as Qi. Alchemists could refine pills that could transform the world. Because the Longxuan Continent was a small continent, many people were unable to become alchemists because they could not refine or even purify necessary herbs to form a pill. The cultivation world thrives on pills, and because they were always fighting, they needed pills and cultivators that could make such pills were respected and admired by all.
Beast tamers were the second most popular skill or profession; these people could form a contract with a spirit beast and after establishing the contract, the spirit master (cultivator) and the beast would be intertwined. The beast could protect its master in the face of danger. But to tame high-ranking animals was a feat that only high-ranked beast tamers could accomplish. That was why beast tamers were highly regarded, but to be a beast tamer, one must be a cultivator.
The last being a doctor, who was responsible for caring for the poor and non-cultivators in the land. This profession was not regarded by cultivators as they rarely got sick and could consume pills. Non-cultivators do not have such privilege and could only rely upon doctors.
The book said that these three skills or professions were only seen in the lower realm, but in the middle realm, there was much more like seekers, array masters, and armament masters, amongst others. Seekers were those ones that could find rare spirit stones with treasures inside.
Array masters could make arrays that could trap their enemies and even escape from crises. Armament masters could make weapons and armors that cultivators could use to fight, escape. They were respected professions in the middle realm.
After reading through the book, he closed it and rubbed his head. He had learned a lot of things.
'I need to go to the Capital School and study there for a while before thinking of going to a new place,' Li Chen thought.
"Li Chen, Li Chen, what are you doing in the library?" his stepfather walked into the library. This was the first time he had seen the master of Li's residence. He looked at the man standing opposite him. The man was tall and handsome, only that the expression on his face ruined his look. He looked at Li Chen in disgust.
"Father, I was just going through the books in the library."
"What do you know that you are reading in the library? I don't want to see you here again, am I understood?" his stepfather, Li Xing, said and walked out of the library.
Li Chen lowered his head; the man could not even ask about his wellbeing. His presence in Li's residence was useless; he was basically a freeloader.
Even though he was not the real Li Chen, he sympathized with him.
He left the library and a maid brought a letter to him.
He opened it and saw that it was from his friend, Yang Feng.
The headmaster of Capital School had agreed to let him study in the school for free; he only needed to pass the examination. Yang Feng was a friend, whose family was an ancient and hidden family in Longxuan. Most people were not aware of his identity. Li Chen knew that the only way the headmaster accepted him was because of Yang Feng.
He was going to make good use of the opportunity and grow, even as an outer student.
