As the nine jeeps drove into the small town, they saw bodies strewn everywhere.
A bad premonition spread through their hearts.
They quickly accelerated, heading towards the factory in the center of the town.
When their vehicles stopped at the factory gate, the numerous bodies on the ground confirmed their ominous feeling.
Watching the remaining men clearing the battlefield and collecting the bodies, a man in a black tactical suit who had just stepped out of one of the cars rushed over, grabbed one of them by the collar, and demanded loudly,
"O que aconteceu? (What happened?)"
The man he grabbed was dazed, but after recognizing his face, he immediately seemed to find his anchor.
He immediately spilled everything that had just happened, like spitting beans, and the man grew angrier with each word he heard.
"Useless! Two armored vehicles beat you all to this state!"
The man was extremely furious; he shoved the man in his hand to the ground, then immediately drew the Desert Eagle from his holster and aimed it at the man's forehead.
Completely ignoring the man's terrified, pleading expression, he pulled the trigger.
Bang!
With a gunshot, the man's skull was instantly blown off, and crimson blood mixed with brain matter splattered on the ground.
Yet, no one dared to speak up for the man; everyone stood trembling to the side.
"You can't even guard a hostage properly, what good are you?"
The man was very angry, and all of this had happened just three minutes ago, but they hadn't seen any vehicles when they arrived.
This was all thanks to Rhode; he had spotted the convoy from the air early on using a drone.
So the two armored vehicles had simply bypassed them.
"Carl, find their tracks for me immediately!" The man put away his Pistol and waved his hand.
So, a person got out of the fourth vehicle, pulled out a box, and when opened, it contained five tube-like objects. He then took out one of the tubes, which had a caliber of about 40mm. After that, he took out a tablet from the box, operated it after turning it on, aimed the tube in his hand at the sky, and pressed the launch device.
Whoosh!
A capsule-like object suddenly launched from the tube, then quickly unfolded in the air, transforming into a quadrotor drone that ascended directly into the sky.
This was a Ninox 44 micro-drone, with a flight time of 35 minutes, equipped with an integrated day/night camera system, a tactical-grade drone capable of automatically identifying and locking onto dynamic targets such as personnel and vehicles.
Under Carl's operation, this drone quickly ascended to its highest point, then searched for activity below, and soon locked onto the two armored vehicles.
"Found them!"
Carl shouted, then used the control system on the tablet to zoom in on the picture; it showed two gray-painted armored vehicles speeding forward, leaving a long trail of smoke behind them.
"Move out! We must get him back!"
Subsequently, everyone quickly got into their vehicles, started them, and sped off in the direction of the two armored vehicles.
Compared to the two modified armored vehicles, their jeeps were lighter and faster, so they should be able to catch up quickly.
At this moment, Ross and his team were also driving madly with the pedal to the metal. To avoid that convoy, they had deliberately taken a detour, which would put them at a disadvantage compared to the pursuers coming in a straight line. Rhode, through his aerial view, quickly noticed that these guys were catching up.
"Boss, five vehicles are chasing us! Approximately three kilometers away!"
Rhode's voice echoed in the headset.
Ross nodded, saying nothing.
Christmas and Caesar climbed out of the roof, turning the M2HB towards the rear, checking the ammunition, and moving the ammo box to the top.
Yinyang and Zhang Jie began loading bullets into empty magazines, replenishing their ammunition. They both knew very well that at their vehicle's current speed, they would be caught in at most ten minutes.
A tough battle was ahead.
Soon, everyone was ready. Except for Ross and Jensen, who were driving, everyone else's gaze was fixed on the rear.
During this time, Rhode also launched another drone, once again monitoring the high-altitude view behind them.
"The convoy behind us is still two kilometers away."
The vehicles continued to speed forward, and in Rhode's view, the nine vehicles behind them were rapidly closing in, now only 1.5 km away.
With Zhang Jie and Yinyang's eyesight, they could vaguely see the opponent's vehicles.
Through the aerial view, Rhode was constantly calling out positions.
"Open the box next to you!" Ross shouted.
Upon hearing this, Yinyang immediately looked to the side and indeed saw a large box.
Opening the box, he saw six TM62 pressure-activated anti-tank landmines inside. Yinyang took out two, glancing at Zhang Jie.
Zhang Jie understood, took one, and noted it was quite heavy.
The TM62 pressure-activated landmine was coated with a gray camouflage matte finish, making it difficult to distinguish when thrown into the sand.
Zhang Jie flicked a switch, and the back door slowly opened.
After Zhang Jie and Yinyang disarmed the TM62 pressure-activated landmines, they flat-threw the discs in their hands.
The two landmines landed in the sand, one on the left and one on the right. Due to inertia, the two landmines rubbed against the ground again, kicking up a lot of sand, which further covered them, thus improving their camouflage.
The angle and distance at which the two landmines were thrown were roughly the same, one left, one right, one front, one back.
This would maximize the chance for the convoy behind to run over a landmine, at least one hit was guaranteed.
However, this method would only be effective once, so Yinyang and Zhang Jie each only threw one.
Their mission was to escort Zhao Guanghua to a base 370km away, a very challenging task.
"Boss, there's a small oasis four kilometers ahead that we can use!"
Rhode's voice came through the intercom headset once again.
"Get there immediately!"
Zhang Jie's gaze was fixed on the vehicles behind them. The distance between the two sides was getting shorter, and the vehicles behind were getting closer to where they had thrown the TM62 pressure-activated landmines.
The vehicle jolted, and Zhang Jie's vision wavered for a moment. Then he saw two fireballs erupt in the distance, followed by two massive explosions.
"Beautiful!"
Zhang Jie clenched his fist and swung it fiercely, and a smile also curved on Yinyang's lips.
The TM62 pressure-activated anti-tank landmine's power was extremely formidable; this thing could even deal with tanks, let alone mere jeeps. The moment the tires ran over the pressure-activated device, the two jeeps, along with their occupants, were instantly reduced to scattered fragments.
The three jeeps immediately following behind quickly swerved sharply, barely avoiding the blast, but some people were killed by the flying shrapnel.
Of the 24 people in the five jeeps, only 12 were still alive, but the immense power of the anti-tank landmines had left them psychologically scarred. They were hesitant to move forward, fearing more landmines awaiting them.
After all, their comrades had died too horribly.
