"Hey, pretty boy." Bagwell approached, tilting his body while watching Nolan with a playful look, smiled maliciously and asked: "Do you speak English."
Nolan returned the smile with confidence, keeping a low profile did not mean showing weakness.
As a newcomer to the prison, if from the start he showed cowardice, they would crush him, he understood that truth very well.
"Of course." He replied calmly.
"Very well." Bagwell stuck out his tongue and licked his lips. "You know? There has never been a boy as cute as you in this place."
"Thanks for the compliment." Nolan replied smiling.
"You're welcome." Bagwell continued. "Someone like you, in a place like this, will not have a good time, you need protection, otherwise one day you might end up dead, understand."
Nolan smiled without answering, Bagwell did not bother either. "I can protect you, and make sure you live well here."
Nolan cast a glance at the young man hanging from his right pocket. "But you already have a partner."
Bagwell's face turned gloomy for a moment, then he smiled coldly and put his hand in his left pocket. "Look, I still have another one."
He had barely finished speaking when suddenly one of the men behind him collapsed to the ground, his body began to convulse violently, foaming at the mouth, everyone, Nolan included, turned their heads at the same time toward that man.
"Guard! Guard!" Bagwell, aware that something was wrong, ran to the fence and shouted to the nearest officer.
The guard looked up and was surprised. "What happened?" He immediately pressed the shoulder communicator. "I need a medic in the yard of area A, quick!"
The convulsing man already had rolled-back eyes, and his breathing faded clearly, in less than two seconds, the man stopped moving, he was dead.

The voice echoed in Nolan's mind and a sensation of power ran through his body while his mind filled with several fighting techniques, stances and more.
Nolan remained calm and did not get carried away, he looked at the corpse on the ground with a feeling of unease, he had lived for more than twenty-five years and never wanted to kill anyone, so it was still a bitter pill to start now.
Although he knew that that guy was not a good person, although he had already prepared himself mentally, the difference between thinking about it and doing it is enormous.
"Everything has a first time." he thought. "If I'm going to survive here, I must get used to it, adapt or die, and I will definitely not die." Nolan thought as he made his decision.
"It doesn't matter, if I do it a few more times it will get easier.." he thought to himself repressing that feeling.
The larva of the Five Poisons returned to his ankle, several guards ran to the place, while many inmates watched with curiosity.
Nolan did nothing, he waited barely two seconds, until the insect returned, it turned around and left.
Bagwell stood by Little Jack's corpse, looking at it stunned, the others were also focused on the dead man, suspecting nothing.
...
There was still recreation time and although Nolan already mastered the basics of Wing Chun, he did not intend to go directly to talk to Abruzzi, first he wanted to clarify something essential: what crime was he accused of?
The answer had to come from a guard, the most accessible seemed to be Bob, a newcomer, Nolan located him, approached calmly and asked through the fence: "Officer, can I ask you a question."
Bob looked at him skeptically. "What question."
Nolan explained that upon waking that morning his mind was blank and added: "Do you know what I am accused of? I just want to know what I did and how long I must stay here."
Bob hesitated, but replied: "You killed five people, first degree murder. You were sentenced to forty years."
The news left Nolan stunned, five murders was a huge and unexpected identity, he soon weighed the practical benefit: with that reputation few would dare provoke him.
He thanked for the information: "Thanks, now I have it clear." He walked away slowly, observing the yard and evaluating every corner of the prison.
His escape plan essentially matched Michael's in the series: the exit was in Sara's office and the moment would be at night, he did not plan to dig tunnels, his idea was to injure himself to be sent to the infirmary and spend the night there.
If at dawn he managed to get the handcuffs off and open Sara's office, he would only have to climb the wiring, for that he needed a lockpicking skill, without it everything would be much harder.
He looked at the yard and the groups of prisoners, the tension between white and black gangs could erupt at any moment, he had to try to escape before they closed area A.
There was a problem: he had just killed a prisoner, if he did it again soon and another inmate died with signs of poisoning, suspicions would increase, Nolan sighed, maybe he would have to stay a few more days.
His fears were confirmed quickly, after removing the corpse, Bagwell frowned and looked hostilely toward the rival gang: "It looked poisoned, if so, it was surely them, from now on, be careful with the food, and prepare weapons, we have to finish them as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, Sara was in her office, she called Warden Pope: "Sir, an inmate died suddenly in the yard of area A, I think he was poisoned, I want to send the body for autopsy."
Pope, already informed, looked serious: "Poisoned." Sara confirmed: "By the signs, yes."
The warden fell silent, a poisoning is more serious and harder to trace than a direct assault.
"All right, send it to autopsy, I will call to speed up the results," he ordered before hanging up.
