Chapter 6 - Hiko x Ai 6: Transferring School

Hiko wanted to find that damned scum and deal with him, but he didn't know where to start.

In his previous life, he had only watched the first episode of the anime and knew there was a mastermind, but he hadn't learned any information about the mastermind from the show.

If he didn't interfere with Ai's life trajectory, he might be able to dig out that mastermind.

But Hiko didn't want to use such a risky method.

In the anime, Ai's twin children were both reincarnators; one, the same age as Ai, had died a few years prior, and the other had just died, both becoming reincarnators on the day of their birth.

Was it too much of a coincidence?

Moreover, Ai had also developed rapidly after that.

Therefore, did supernatural power exist in this world?

Hiko pondered in his heart.

When he watched it in his previous life, he just thought these were settings and didn't think much of it.

But the story became reality, and he also gained a system, so it was not impossible for there to be supernatural powers or even gods.

Unfortunately, the system didn't offer any combat-related items.

Hiko had briefly browsed the items sold in the system's store, which were basically music, film and television works, and novels.

Or perhaps only drawing lots could yield good things.

Because he also hadn't seen any aura-type abilities for sale, nor any peace talismans.

'I hate drawing lots.'

Hiko felt annoyed; in his previous life, his luck with gacha pulls wasn't terrible, but it wasn't lucky either.

"Hiko-kun?" Ai walked in front of the dazed Hiko, her palm open and waving back and forth close to his eyes. "Are you feeling down?"

"I can't hide it from you after all. You really see through everything."

Hiko pressed down the hand waving in front of his eyes. "But this won't get me down. Don't forget the promise you have to keep."

Later, he would pretend to be making preparations and directly ask Ichigo how to properly train Ai, and which mentor to send her to for education.

This way, he could investigate Ai's life trajectory in the original story before it was interfered with, and sooner or later, he would find that scum.

He didn't know how long it would take to find him.

On the other hand, he also had to find a way to know where 'Doctor' Goro was from.

The hospital's location was not mentioned in the show.

Investigating the doctor's location wasn't urgent, because as long as Ai turned 16, and when the weather turned cold, he could trick Ichigo with a lie. At that time, Ichigo should know about that 'safe' hospital, and then he should be able to find out its location from him.

There were still four years until that time, and in these four years, Ai would probably have performed already.

By then, he would be able to obtain items from the system, and even without supernatural powers, he should be able to draw a few peace talismans.

This would ensure his safety when investigating whether supernatural powers existed in this world at the doctor's place.

Hiko planned out his next steps in his mind.

"Hey, the paperwork's done. Let's go back."

After Ichigo and the orphanage's director finished the procedures, they immediately found the two of them.

"Since you've both gotten a new start, why not transfer schools too?" Ichigo looked at Ai, asking for her opinion.

"I'm doing well at my current school, so there's no need to transfer, right?" Ai didn't want to trouble Ichigo and refused.

"I think it's better if you transfer schools." This time, Hiko didn't let her use a lie to refuse Ichigo's kind offer, and he chimed in, "A good school is very important for students. Although everyone receives an education by law, the qualifications of school teachers vary. Good teachers can make learning interesting, while unqualified teachers will only lecture verbatim, turning knowledge into a lullaby that makes people drowsy."

Ichigo listened to Hiko's theory and, remembering that he always got full marks on every exam, said in surprise, "Is that so? So it turns out the teachers who taught me weren't good enough!"

"Is that really true?" Ai was half-convinced.

"As someone who gets full marks on every exam, why would I lie to you?" Hiko lied.

It wasn't that his school was good, but because he was a transmigrator, born with memories, and the knowledge he had learned in his previous life was still in his mind. The content of elementary and junior high school was very simple and didn't challenge him.

"So, let Ai receive a good education at my school."

Seeing that the two were about to be persuaded, Hiko pressed on, saying, "Good grades also give you an advantage in Idol activities."

Ichigo's heart was immediately moved upon hearing this, and he echoed Hiko's words: "Ai, just agree to transfer schools. A new environment will also be good for you, won't it?"

Facing their offensive, Ai thought about her current school, where she had no good friends, and considered that transferring might be a good thing. "Then I'll transfer."

'Yay!'

Hiko's spirits soared when he saw he had successfully misled the two.

Although he had tricked them by saying the school was excellent, Ai, as a bound target, would significantly improve her learning ability when she was near him, so it wasn't really a lie.

"Since you've decided to transfer, let's quickly take care of it this weekend so Ai can go to school with you on Monday."

So Ichigo drove the two of them around again.

Hiko took out his phone in the passenger seat and searched for 'Doctor Goro,' and a bunch of strange search results popped up on the screen.

Indeed, it was difficult to find the target you needed to investigate if you only knew their first name and not their surname.

"Speaking of which, how do you plan to train Ai?" Hiko, remembering his newly set goal, asked the President.

"Of course, I'll hand her over to professionals for training. I don't know how to develop an Idol."

Ichigo replied casually while driving.

"Professionals, you say? When you have time later, send me their contact information. I'd like to discuss Idol training methods with them." Hiko used his previous statement as a cover, concealing his true motive for seeking those people.

"You might as well admit defeat early. It's impossible to beat professionals by cramming at the last minute."

Ichigo teased him, then, remembering the stunt his nephew had just pulled, he added, "I'll send you the contact information after I get home tonight."

Hiko responded with an "Mhm," then, to avoid misunderstanding, added, "I already know about Idol training methods; I just want to know the caliber of these professionals you know. It's not a last-minute cramming effort."

"Whatever you say. You'll know the difference between professional Idol trainers and amateurs when the time comes." Ichigo didn't mind, believing Hiko was just having a fleeting interest in getting involved in this industry. Kids, after all, are curious about everything, want to try everything, and only have a three-minute passion, which won't last long.

But he couldn't let Hiko act recklessly and toy with other people's lives just because he was his nephew.

Ai trusted him, and he couldn't betray her trust.

If Hiko had discussed Idol training with him privately before, he would have contacted a part-time student for his nephew.

Then the student would get paid and would also know whether his nephew had the ability to train Idols.
