Leaving the Morgan estate, Sophia slid into the car and wiped every trace of tears off her face.
Lucas raised a brow. "You were so convincing back there," he said. "Looked real."
"Was I that good?" She blinked at him, eyes still a little red.
"Yeah. Tears on command."
Sophia stared at him with an exaggerated innocent look. "Remember this — if you want to cry, you can."
Lucas had never shed a tear for anyone in his life.
"Impossible. I don't cry."
Sophia arched a brow. "Don't cry? One day you will. I'll make sure you cry for me at least once."
Lucas let out a low laugh, suddenly cupping the back of her head and kissing her.
Then, lips grazing her ear, he murmured, teasing and dangerous,
"I prefer when you cry."
Sophia's ears turned bright red. She pinched the soft flesh at his waist — hard.
He pretended to wince dramatically.
