Chapter 17 - A Burst Of Inspiration

BOOM!

A loud explosion occurred in the middle of the many roads of drum kingdom bowing up a huge dust cloud. Two figures jumped out simultaneously from opposite sides of the dust cloud.

Naruto landed and stumbled back a few steps before gaining his bearing. He didn't get he time to catch his breath when tong appeared in front of him throwing a mean right hook at his face.

Tong didn't blink when his fist missed, instead he threw out another then another firing off like a gatling gun.

The marine watching the fight couldn't believe their eyes as Tong's arms turned into a blur. They couldn't believe that such a thing was even humanly possible, but what was even more shocking and impressive at the same time is the blonde on the receiving end of such a vicious attack. Not only is he not dead but he seemed to be holding his own against the onslaught of attacks.

Bam!

Naruto made a mistake and it cost him dearly as Tong's fist ruthlessly connected with his torso and sent him flying backwards like a missile.

Tong watched Naruto crash into a food stand by the side of the road then looked at his fist and frowned. It had taken him expending so much energy just to connect one single hit. From all their exchange so far he had only managed to hit Naruto directly thrice. It was a huge insult to him.

Tong looked back up and frowned when he saw Naruto slowly getting back up to his feet. How is he doing?

"Ugh that hurts" Naruto rubbed his chest in pain as he slowly got back to his feet. Not just his chest but his arms as well from blocking those fists. Those punches hurt like hell, he was sure that he had a few cracked ribs. If he was to take a couple more of those fists he just might die.

The only advantages he had over Tong are his quick reflexes, speed and dexterity.

'I can't win against him in brute strength. I'm not Roger. I need to find another way to beat him'

Naruto and Tong engaged in a stare-off as they formulated plans in their heads thinking about how to deal with the other.

The marines swallowed nervously as they stared between Naruto and Tong. For some reasons they felt a lot of pressure even though they weren't the ones fighting.

NOW!

After what felt like centuries Naruto and Tong finally moved. The two of them disappeared from their positions, the ground breaking apart underneath their feet.

"ORA!" Tong threw out a hay maker as soon as Naruto got within his striking range. After fighting Naruto for so long he knew that he would be able to dodge such an attack that's why the fist was actually a faint. He would attack with his other fist as soon as Naruto dodged.

However, what he didn't expect was for Naruto to suddenly disappear from his sight. Before he could understand what was happening a loud explosion filled his ear and he spat out a mouthful of blood before rocketing backward like a loose cannon and crashed through a building.

The people hiding inside the building panicked and hurriedly ran away when Tong crashed into their home.

The marines stared with wide eyes and slack-jawed at Naruto standing in the middle of the streets not able to believe their eyes.

What just happened? WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED?!

"It actually worked?" Naruto couldn't believe his eyes even as he stared at the collapsed building that Tong had crashed through. That attack just now had been him compressing his speed to the maximum to deal out a lightning fast attack.

He had gotten the inspiration for the attack when he noticed that Tong's muscle compresses whenever he wanted to strike. So he thought that since his normal punches doesn't work against Tong then what about a high speed one.

He has been trying his every next to achieve it during his fight with Tong but to no avail. Each time it did it had resulted in him leaving a hole in his defense and taking a direct hit from Tong.

However, he didn't actually expect it to work this time and was ready to pay the price for it but it worked. That was the first time he dealt damage to Tong since the beginning of their battle.

Naruto finally saw a glint of hope of winning against Tong.

Tong laid down among the rumbles of the destroyed building with a look of disbelief and doubt on his face. Just like the marines he wanted to understand just what had happened.

What exactly did Naruto hit him with. He understood that while Naruto had been able to dodge most of his attacks that was it. His attacks didn't hurt him that much where as his attack always send the kid flying whenever they connected so what happened. Not only did Naruto's attack send him flying but it also drew blood for him.

Tong pulled himself out from the rumbles and climbed out of the building. Tong walked back unto the street to see Naruto still standing in the middle of the street which surprised him. He thought that he would have used this opportunity to run aware but he was actually wrong. So he made his inner confusion known.

"Why didn't you run away?

"Because the fight isn't over" Naruto replied as he got into his fighting stance.

Although he said that the truth was that he wanted to make sure that what he just did wasn't a fluke especially now that he had a winning chance. If it was before he would have ran away.

"Admirable but foolish at the same time. Whether you run or stay makes no difference. Don't get cocky just because you managed to hurt me. If you are to leave this island it would be as a prisoner on a marine ship. Let me humble you"

"Not gonna happen"

---

BOOM!

"Argh!"

Bam! bam! bam!

Mini shockwaves occurred all round the street as two figures exchanged blows with each other.

Each time the figures collided a mini shockwave would go off

"Urghhh!"

A huge shock wave louded than the previous ones burst outward as before a figure fell from the sky like a missile hitting the ground with a loud explosion. Blowing debris and dust everywhere.

Daichi pulled himself out of the ground with a lot of struggle. He was bleeding from his head and his body hurts all over. His clothes was in tatters and he could barely stand upright.

He had a look of disbelief and shock on his face as he stared at the grinning figure standing a short distance away from him looking less miserable but miserable nonetheless.

Just what kind of monster is this guy? Not only could he contend with him in strength but he was also stronger than him. This was unacceptable. He is a trained elite marine from HQ, how could he lose against a lonely no name pirate.

No, no, no. THIS CAN'T BE!

Roger laughed heartily as he watched Daichi pull himself out from the crater that he had created. There was no marines around because Daichi had chased them all away when he first arrived. He said that he didn't want anyone to interfere in their fight.

"Had enough yet? Or are you stalling for back up?" Roger questioned when he saw Daichi just standing there looking like a fool without making any moves

"DIE!" Daichi finally lost it when he heard Roger's words. He ignored the pain he was feeling from his hurting body and charged at Roger like a mad bull. Daichi covered the distance between them in seconds but before he could strike out a fist smashed into his face like a mountain sending him crashing head first into the ground.

Boom!

A dust cloud exploded around them. The dust cloud slowly cleared up to reveal an Daichi lying unconscious on the ground in front of Roger.

"What a tough bastard" Roger exhaled deeply, he was completely exhausted. Daichi might not look it but he was really strong. If it was anyone else they would have been defeated by Daichi long ago.

After catching his breath Roger quickly made his way towards the dork where the others were waiting for him.

"Rayleigh! Naruto! I'm coming!"

….….

In an empty street that looks almost deserted two figure stood facing off against each other.

Bang bang bang…..

Tsuru fire off bullets after bullets with deadly precision however her opponent wasn't to be messed with either as he deflected each bullets with his sword like a master samurai.

Tsuru cursed underneath her breath when she saw her bullets so easily deflected.

It has been like this since the beginning of their battle. When she first arrived her aim was to deal with Rayleigh from a distance using her assault rifle. However she got a rude awakening when she realized that not only could Rayleigh predict the trajectory of her bullets but he could even deflect them.

After the marines around them had been hit by a few deflected bullets they had been forced to retreat with their injured comrades.

And to make matters worse she was running out of ammo.

Rayleigh raised a quizzical brow when Tsuru suddenly shooting bullets at him. Did she finally decided to stop wasting ammo?

"How about we call it a day?" Rayleigh suggested. He would rather they stopped fighting so that he could quickly head for the port.

"Not happening" Tsuru rejected stubbornly as she took aimed with her gun. "As a marine it is my duty to arrest criminals like you. Therefore, you are not leaving as long as I'm still breathing."

"Is that so?"

For some reason, Tsuru had a bad premonition when she heard Rayleigh word. However, she quick Shook it off. As an elite marine from HQ it would reflect badly on her record if she allowed a low level pirate escape from her.

However, before she could say do anything Rayleigh suddenly disappeared from her line of sight and the next thing she heard was the sound of the air being sliced.

Tsuru looked down in stupor at her weapon which has been sliced cleanly in half.

"Sorry. But I don't have time to play around with you"

Tsuru turned around when she heard a voice behind her only to see Rayleigh running away.

"S..stop!" Tsuru shouted as she gave chase after him. No matter what she can't let Rayleigh escape.
