"What are you doing here, Rossetti?"
Castro didn't look very happy.
"Why am I just finding out this girl is here, Castro?"
"You weren't supposed to know of her whereabouts, and you're very clear on the reason."
At that moment, they both looked so fierce. I tried to slip away without being noticed by either of them. My sea food was waiting.
I really didn't want to get involve in whatever mess this was.
"Moretti."
Matteo called out to me right before I accomplished my goal.
Why must things always go this way for me?
I turned to face him anyways.
He looked at me with cold precision in his eyes.
I did nothing wrong, yeah? I'm literally just trying to exist and maybe eat my fucking sea food.
He kept looking at me with those cold eyes that seemed to burn into my skin.
My stomach tightened.
I was in the middle of planning my escape from there when I felt someone yank me forcefully and I hit a very solid chest..
Adrian. It was about time.
He hid my face in his chest while he addressed Matteo.
"You're not supposed to be here, and you know it, Matteo."
"Leave."
His voice was raised a bit more than normal.
"I was refused an audience with the girl when I asked politely. What exactly did you expect, pretty boy?"
"Well, you still don't get it. You still don't get that audience. You may leave now, Matteo."
This was so out of character for Adrian.
Staying in his chest felt comfortable though. So comfortable.
The oud scent on him made my knees a bit weak. I don't mind being held prisoner in here for a while longer.
"It's fine, Adrian. I'll still get to see her anyways. You both can't keep her locked up in here forever." Matteo sounded so cold and unfeeling.
"Then we'll keep her as long as we can. You don't get to decide when it's time for her to come out… Again, Matteo. Leave." Adrian said, not backing down.
I then heard receding footsteps, and Adrian pulled me out of his chest.
"Avoid him." he said, addressing me.
"Why?" I was genuinely confused and curious. What could he have done to make both Castro and Adrian dislike him so much.
"You don't have to know for now, Little Isa. You just have to listen. Stay away from Matteo." Castro said with a distant look in his eyes.
I wasn't satisfied still. Well, I didn't know much about the world still.
If they say to stay away, then I will.
"Why did you stop following me? Our food arrived quite a while ago."
Adrian said while dragging me along with him.
After dinner, I retired to my room, ready to sleep for hours.
I was about to start drifting off to sleep when Castro knocked.
"Hi, Castro." I tried to sound just a bit cheery. I badly needed the sleep.
I cried in my head.
"There's a gala tomorrow. You're coming with me."
Castro said without pleasantires.
"Matteo was right. We can't keep you locked up forever."
"Sure, Castro. That sounds like fun."
He left, then I continued my oh, so needed sleep.
…
The next morning, I was sore in places I didn't even know existed.
