Chapter 15 - The Wyvern Lord

As the Damian and his team was getting to the adventures guild,The guild hall was in chaos. Adventurers rushed in and out, papers scattered across the request board. Voices overlapped, tense and fearful.

"Another village burned…"

"They say it was a Wyvern Lord this time!"

"An emergency quest at least B-rank, maybe higher!"

Damian sat at the edge of the guild, quietly observing. He had just begun getting used to the town, sparring with Rowan and Elara, learning the flow of adventurer life. But this atmosphere was different heavy, urgent.

The guild master, a grizzled man with a scar across his cheek, slammed a parchment onto the board.

"Listen up! A Wyvern Lord has descended near the village of Hartstead. Crops destroyed, homes gone, people missing. This is no ordinary hunt, it's a high-priority emergency quest. Failure means the beast will head for the town next."

Gasps rippled through the hall. A Wyvern Lord was a calamity-class monster rare, but devastating.

The guild master's eyes scanned the room. "We need parties capable of holding their ground. No solo adventurers. Team up, or don't even think about going."

Rowan's axe hit the table with a thud. "We're going."

Elara smirked, spinning a dagger between her fingers. "Of course. I've been itching for something big."

Both turned to Damian. "You in?" Rowan asked.

Damian hesitated, then nodded. A Wyvern Lord… if I'm to grow stronger, I need to face this.

Two days later, the trio stood at the outskirts of Hartstead. The air was thick with smoke. Blackened ruins stretched before them, villagers gathering in tears around what little remained.

Children cried. Farmers sat in silence, staring at scorched fields. Half the homes were collapsed.

Damian clenched his fists. One creature did all this…?

An older man approached, bowing his head to the adventurers. "The beast flew east after its rampage… it nests in the cliffs by the forest. Please… end this nightmare."

Rowan's expression hardened. "We'll handle it."

They set off. Damian adjusted the straps across his chest his spear rested in hand, a long sword strapped to his back, and his dual blades sheathed at his sides. Without a magic storage or pocket dimension, he had to carry everything the hard way. Each weapon clinked with his steps, his sword , dual blades and his spear he didn't bring the war hammer because it was heavy to carry around.but it gave him reassurance: whatever the Wyvern threw at them, he had an answer.

They trekked into the forest, each step heavier than the last. Trees snapped under claw marks. The ground bore massive craters where fire blasts had scorched through. The trail was easy to follow and terrifying.

Then came the roar.

It shook the earth, scattering birds from the canopy. A massive shadow crossed overhead, wings blotting out the light.

The Wyvern Lord descended with a crash that split the ground, its steel-like scales glimmering, eyes glowing with primal rage.

Rowan raised his axe. "Positions!"

Elara vanished into motion, daggers ready.

Damian shifted his stance, tightening his grip on the spear while his sword weighed heavy on his back.

This is it…

The battle for Hartstead had begun.
