"What?" I asked impatiently.
"I asked if you'd be my girlfriend and you'd say you'll think about it. So what's your answer? I promise if you reject, I'll keep troubling you!" He said, smiling nervously.
"Urgh.... girlfriend?.... oh my!" I stuttered face palming myself.
"Now what?" He asked, his hands lightly gripping my shoulder.
Screw me if I didn't really notice his shaky hands on my shoulder. I really didn't give thought to that. It wasn't gonna be a big deal if I was girlfriend anyway. I'd just make him hate me. I wanted him as a friend not the other way round.
"Ok! Ok! I'm your girlfriend! No big deal, right?" I shrugged.
I could see hurt in his eyes when I said the 'no big deal'. I didn't care if he felt hurt. He called for it though. But nonetheless, he hugged me tightly muttering 'Thank You' over and over again.
"Ok! Let me go!" I screamed, struggling to get off his strong hold.
"You'll be mine forever!"
I didn't say anything. He took my hands into his and walked into the class giggling like a child who was gifted his favorite ice cream flavor. My eyes fell on Fred who was peacefully reading his book without a care in the world. I looked round the class and found Zainab airing us kisses. I rolled my eyes In disgust. The whole class was now staring, except Fred.
"What?'I blurted looking at them all.
"Why are you angry at us, baby?" Calvin, the second most followed Instagram star in our class asked, blowing me a kiss.
Such a pervert!
"Shut up Calvin! I'm talking! Do not talk while I'm talking, ok?" I yelled.
"Since my queen says so!" He said bowing slightly, giving me a wink.
"Calvin! You don't talk to my girl in that manner!" Bernard warned, giving him a stern look.
'Awn! Such A supportive boyfriend!"
"I knew it! Something was going on between this two!"
"Don't they look cute?"
"Geez! Bernard's looking more handsome since he became her boyfriend, the secret?"
I heard people say while Calvin grinned looking at Bernard who scoffed.
"Lover boy!" Calvin mocked.
All the while, Fred never looked up from his textbook. He was looking too serious for my liking. Why can't I just punch him? Just once! My thought was interrupted when someone dragged me to a rough and hard surface. I let out a yelp but then looked up to the supposed hard wall but it was just Bernard. Why the hell would he do that? From the corner of my eyes, I could see Fred staring at us. what's Bernard about to do? His nose was stroking mine. I froze. Wasn't expecting that! I mean no! no! This can't be happening! His lips were finding mine! I could see Fred's eyes were on us. I had to just kinda like snap out of my thoughts and act quick.
"Bernard..... stop!..... we're in the class!" I stuttered trying to pull him away from me.
"You're my girlfriend.. Zikora, please just once!" He pleaded, staring deep into my eyes.
"Just let me go!" I whispered, not wanting to embarrass him in front of the class.
"Bernard! Let go of her now!"Fred shouted, toying with his pen.
"Why should I?" He defensively asked.
Fred pointed to the doorway to reveal Zimba who was already frowning at Bernard. Bernard let me go immediately and I got to straighten my back. He moved towards us and looked between I and Bernard.
"You alright?" Zimba asked looking concerned.
"Yes, I'm fine!" I lied.
In reality, my cheeks were hurting because Bernard might've unconsciously dug his nails into my cheeks.
"Hey, stay away from my sister, you get me? If you dare hurt her in any way... I'm chopping you to pieces. get it?" He warned, looking really angry.
Awn! he ain't angry with me anymore! What would I had done without him?
"I really I'm not hurt, ok?" I assured him.
"Shut up! Come here!" He dragged me to my chair and sat me down.
The whole class were videoing the scene. Some girls were whistling at him while some were winking at him.
"Hey, thank you bro!"
"Your lunch box! You forgot them at home! take!" He said handing the lunch box to me.
"I said thank you!"
"I'll be going home" he said ignoring me and my 'thank you'.
"Ok! Fine! I'm sorry for calling you that yesterday!" I apologized.
"Whatever! Just.....ok! and stay away from that psycho" he said, ruffling my big puffy afro.
"Urgh!" I exclaimed, slapping his hands off.
He smiled leaving the class but not without the crazy girls winking and intentionally running into him. Girls! The things they do men!
"Geez! Did you see that guy?"
"Elisa! I'm in love"
"Why are they so handsome?"
"Did he see his abs, May?"
I frowned at them all and they all shut their mouths up. I watched Bernard retire to his chair in anger and embarrassment. Probably, cursing both I or Zimba. I quietly stood up from my chair to go to Bernards chair but was held back by a soft hands. I turned to know the owner..... Fred!
"What?" I blurted, yanking my hands off his.
"Sit!"
"Why? Don't you dare tell me what to do!"
"Sit!"
"You can't tell..."
He forcefully sat me down. I stared at him in anger. He stared at me back. Then looked between I and Bernard and smirked. I frowned at his gestures. I looked back at Bernard. This time, his face was buried in his hands.
"He's angry! You wanna go meet him?" He asked, smirked.
"None of your business!" I blurted.
"Sometimes I wonder if celebrities have brains."
"Don't insult me, ok?" I yelled.
"Whatever! Go face his anger!" He sneered, facing his book.
He was right though..... what if Bernard were to go violent out of anger? Not that I'd let that happen! But what if he did?
"I hate you!"
"Me too!" Fred said, smiling.
He was surely happy seeing me adhere to his warning. I never pay heed to people like him but today, I did. Highschool why? Why did you get me Fred? I looked at him and caught him smiling. Stupid mad idiot! I stomped out of the class in defeat cursing Fred with the most rotten words.
