Chapter 3 - Character Sketch

Manisha:- Focused, career-oriented, and disciplined, Manisha built her world on precision and principle. An auditor and forensic investigator by profession, she travelled the world — London her base, yet often in Frankfurt, Dubai, Singapore, or New York, uncovering truths behind the polished facades of corporations. She is unflinching in her standards and rarely lets her emotions surface in public. Yet beneath the steel lies a heart shaped by storms — a failed marriage that was more a prison than a home, and the tender responsibility of raising her son, Arav. She is cautious with affection, guarded in speech, but when she loves, she does so with unwavering devotion.

Mark Kumar Roy:- An Anglo-Indian by heritage, with an Indian father and American mother, Mark grew up between two cultures. He leans toward the open expressiveness of the West, yet quietly honours Indian traditions, especially the sanctity of marriage and family. A widower, he endured the heartbreak of repeated miscarriages before being blessed with a daughter, Hillary. Losing his wife left him carrying both sorrow and strength. Mark is considerate, compassionate, and a believer in love's quiet depth. For him, family time means more than crowded parties, affection more than show. He longs for the kind of enduring partnership his parents once shared.

Arav:- Manisha's son. Intelligent, sensitive, and fiercely protective of his mother. His young heart, however, struggles with the idea of change — resisting Mark at first, uncertain how to share the love he guards so tightly for his mother.

Hillary:- Mark's daughter and Manisha's god-daughter. Gentle and patient, Hillary becomes the bridge between Mark and Manisha. She loves deeply and intuitively, sensing truths long before adults voice them. Her quiet acceptance and trust serve as a guiding light in moments of resistance and hesitation.

Maya:- A practical, grounded confidante of Manisha. She reminds her that life, like auditing, is not just about rules but balance. Maya's voice is firm, often pragmatic, the steadying hand when Manisha falters.

Anaya:- Spiritually attuned, Anaya sees love as destiny's hand at work. She often interprets signs and synchronicities, encouraging Manisha to believe in fate and karmic bonds. For her, Mark and Manisha are not coincidence but cosmic design.

Dr. Nehal:- A wise doctor, compassionate and clear-eyed. She plays a crucial role in helping Arav adjust emotionally to the idea of Mark, while also guiding Manisha to accept love without guilt. Rational yet kind, she bridges science with understanding, reason with empathy.
