Chapter 141 - Side Story: Snow Fairy

Angry.

That despicable human, he actually sealed her inside this stone!

She only liked handsome men. What was wrong with that?!

Froslass tried desperately to break the seal, but Kyurem's power was too strong. No matter how much she struggled, nothing changed.

Eventually, exhausted, she could only retreat into the depths of the stone.

When the rage faded, a slow, strange calm settled over her.

Even sealed, she could still see and hear everything happening outside.

And so… time began to pass.

Like sand slipping through fingers.

Days, months, seasons, even years, drifted by beyond her icy prison.

In Lacunosa Village, people were born. People died. Families expanded.

New generations grew up.

Froslass watched silently.

She saw the villagers build bigger homes, stronger walls.

She heard them rename Lacunosa Village into Lacunosa Town.

A Pokémon Center was built.

Trainers from far away stopped to rest before entering the mountains.

More Pokémon appeared in the area, raised and nurtured by humans.

Little by little, the people who once feared Pokémon

began to approach them.

Feed them, raise them. Sleep with them curled on their pillows.

Pokémon weren't decorations anymore.

They were partners.

Friends.

Family.

In a quiet corner of the town, Froslass even saw a man and his Gardevoir fall into forbidden love.

The man was tall and handsome, just her type. They even held a private wedding ceremony, hidden from disapproving eyes.

Watching this, a strange feeling stirred in Froslass's heart.

A feeling that almost felt like…envy.

Why, why did that Gardevoir get a human who loved her?

Why couldn't she…?

Years later, she overheard villagers speaking of a human King named Lucien.

The one who changed the old term "magical beasts" into the new name Pokémon.

Pokémon…

Was I… a Pokémon too?

Froslass watched the world change.

From hostility to curiosity, to trust, to affection.

For the first time, she began to wonder, 'had I been wrong all along?'

If she had never harmed those humans, if she hadn't stolen them away and frozen them…could she too have lived like that Gardevoir?

Could she have found someone who loved her?

Someone who would cook meals with her, decorate their home with her, sleep beside her in a warm bed instead of standing frozen and silent in her lair?

Slowly… painfully…

Froslass calmed.

She wasn't angry anymore. She wasn't resentful.

Instead, she watched the world outside with growing understanding, and regret.

Sometimes at night, she wondered:

"Will I ever meet a man who loves me?"

Someone who would smile at her, hold her hand, cook dinner with her, laugh with her.

The bitterness inside her heart melted, piece by piece.

Eventually, Froslass's resentment vanished entirely.

Years continued to flow.

Tall buildings rose.

Old dirt roads became smooth asphalt lined with trees and benches.

This was no longer a remote village. It was a thriving, modern Lacunosa Town.

And over those centuries, a legend took shape:

"Long ago, before humans and Pokémon had learned to live together, a terrible spirit roamed the night, stealing villagers away. Until one day, a traveler appeared.

A Tamer from afar. He defeated the monster and saved the people. And the strongest dragon of all, Kyurem, chose him as its partner."

To express their gratitude, the villagers erected a statue in honor of the traveling tamer who had saved them, passing his story from parent to child, generation after generation, right up to the present day.

Then, on a warm, gentle afternoon, on the very day Froslass finally understood her mistake, the Ice Stone sealing her began to melt.

Sunlight glimmered across its frosted surface, turning droplets to steam.

Cracks spread like spiderwebs across the ice.

And with a soft shhhhhh, the seal shattered.

Froslass stepped out into the sunlight, returning to a world she had left thousands of years ago.

"Whoa! A Froslass! I wanna catch it!"

A child's excited voice echoed from nearby.

Froslass turned.

A young boy stood there, a Pokédex in hand, eyes sparkling with excitement at the Pokémon before him.

"Fro… slass…"

But Froslass only lowered her head.

She didn't want to run. She didn't want to fight. She only wanted to atone.

Quietly, she faded into the air like drifting snow.

Yet she did not leave Lacunosa Town.

Instead, she wandered through the streets, through quiet alleys and bustling markets, helping wherever she could.

To atone.

To heal what she had harmed long ago.

She helped trainers find their lost Pokémon, extinguished open flames and gas leaks before disasters occurred, rescued children cornered by wild Pokémon, guided lost hikers back to safety, froze falling power lines to prevent electrocution.

One small deed after another.

Day by day.

Little by little.

And soon, an urban legend took shape.

A benevolent "Snow Fairy" who appeared only in cold weather, helping the needy, disappearing before thanks could be given.

Trainers spread the stories. Then bloggers. Then reporters.

Posts about her flooded the web, spreading far beyond Kagome Town.

People from distant regions journeyed to meet her.

Some wanted to see her. Some wanted to catch her. Some simply wanted to witness the legend.

But Froslass no longer cared about such things.

She had changed.

In truth, she had begun to enjoy this new life.

The people she helped would leave Poffins and sweet candies by their windows for her. Children she saved would wave at her cheerfully as she drifted past.

Old women would thank the "kind winter spirit" who kept their homes warm by closing drafty windows with ice before storms.

Her lonely world slowly filled with warmth.

Days melted into weeks. Weeks melted into years.

Until one day;

A familiar figure appeared before her.

Froslass looked up.

The sunlight framed him gently, and the silhouette overlapped with the memory of a man from a thousand years ago.

Her breath stopped.

"Froslass…"

The man's voice carried relief, warm and gentle.

"It seems you've finally understood."

He stepped closer, smiling softly.

"Well then…Snow Fairy, do you understand what I meant all those years ago?"
