Chapter 171 - Chapter 20: Send Me Home

Emiya remembered that, according to the records, there were originally nine demons on Mount Natagumo.

Including Lower Rank Five of the Twelve Kizuki-Rui.

They were the pieces Rui gathered for his twisted family game.

However, four of them had already been killed by Rui himself for displeasing him.

Emiya remembered one case especially clearly.

A female demon, tired of the game, tried to escape Rui's control together with the Spider Sister.

She never expected betrayal.

In the end, Rui hung her from the roof and left her to burn under the sun.

Because of that, when the Mount Natagumo incident officially began, only five demons remained.

Rui.

His "parents."

His "sister."

His "brother."

Now, Emiya had already killed the Spider Mother and the Spider Sister.

That left three.

He didn't stop.

He continued searching for the next one.

Whoosh.

A spider thread shot toward him at terrifying speed.

Emiya dodged.

The trees behind him were sliced cleanly apart.

The third demon appeared.

Rui.

Lower Rank Five of the Twelve Kizuki.

His eyes were filled with naked killing intent.

"You... You dare kill my family!"

Emiya pouted.

If he hadn't already known the truth, he might've believed Rui's anger was genuine.

But it wasn't.

This wasn't grief.

It was a performance.

Rui, of course, didn't realize he'd been seen through.

"I won't kill you easily," he snarled. "I'll torture you to death."

Emiya didn't bother replying.

The Dragon of Greed surged forward.

"Blood Demon Art: Thread-Loom Cage!"

Rui reacted instantly.

Spider threads spread out, forming a web aimed straight at the Dragon of Greed.

The dragon was massive.

But its speed was lightning-fast.

It dodged and swung its tail.

Bang.

Rui was caught completely off guard.

The impact shattered half the bones in his body.

He flew like a cannonball.

Boom. Boom. Boom.

Tree after tree collapsed as Rui smashed through them.

He finally crashed into a boulder, dust exploding outward.

If he were human, nothing would've remained.

But demons were different.

As long as they weren't burned by sunlight or decapitated by a Nichirin Blade, they wouldn't die.

When Rui stood up, his broken bones had already regenerated.

His fury deepened.

"I'll kill-"

The Dragon of Greed appeared in front of him in a flash.

Its claw descended from above.

Rui rolled desperately, barely avoiding it.

At the same time, he unleashed his strongest technique.

"Blood Demon Art: Spinning Thread Wheel!"

Threads filled the air.

They wove into a massive, rotating cocoon and shot toward the Dragon of Greed, aiming to bind and shred it.

Then Rui's expression changed.

His threads couldn't cut it.

These were his strongest threads.

Poof.

The Dragon of Greed roared, its cry echoing through Mount Natagumo.

It reached out, tore the threads apart, and broke free.

Emiya smiled.

The Dragon of Greed had absorbed enormous life force.

Fifty percent flowed to him.

Thirty percent was stored.

The remaining twenty percent reinforced the dragon itself.

Compared to its birth, it had completely transformed.

It might not withstand nuclear weapons, particle cannons, absolute zero, or the sun's surface temperature.

But Rui's Blood Demon Art?

That was nothing.

The Dragon of Greed opened its jaws and lunged.

Rui leapt sideways, barely avoiding being bitten.

But the claw followed like a shadow.

Pssh.

It pierced his body and grabbed him.

Rui's eyes widened.

Blood sprayed.

But he still didn't die.

A demon's vitality was terrifying.

Rui struggled violently, hammering the claw with both fists.

Gwaaaah.

Then he was swallowed whole.

Inside the Dragon of Greed, his life force was drained relentlessly.

Emiya raised an eyebrow.

A Twelve Kizuki's life force was truly immense.

Even a Lower Rank Five far surpassed dozens of minotaurs from the seventeenth dungeon floor.

Rui continued struggling inside, trying to tear his way out.

But the Dragon of Greed wasn't flesh.

It was a Nen Beast.

Its inside was as hard as its outside.

Gradually, Rui's movements weakened.

Then stopped.

His life force was completely consumed.

He was dead.

The Dragon of Greed opened its mouth.

A child's soul was released.

Rui.

No longer a demon.

Just a ghost.

His human memories had returned.

Tears fell from his eyes, vanishing before touching the ground.

"Father... Mother..."

Two more spirits appeared.

A man.

A woman.

They smiled gently.

Rui froze, then rushed forward.

They opened their arms and embraced him.

His human parents.

Rui cried in their arms, apologizing endlessly.

They held him close.

Then they looked at Emiya and nodded.

Flames rose around them.

Within the fire, the three vanished.

Emiya frowned slightly.

Even now, he didn't understand how those souls appeared-or disappeared.

This world wasn't simple.

With Rui dead, only two demons remained on Mount Natagumo.

The Spider Father.

The Spider Brother.

Their strength was mediocre.

The Spider Father was slightly stronger.

Strong enough to beat the boar-headed boy into mistaking him for a Twelve Kizuki.

But in reality, he was just an elite demon.

The Spider Brother was even weaker.

The moment Rui died, both demons sensed it.

Rui's blood flowed in them.

Their reaction wasn't vengeance.

It was escape.

Rui was never their real family.

There was no bond.

Only fear.

With Rui gone, they ran.

Naturally, Emiya didn't let them.

Using Observation Haki, he located them easily.

Both were killed without effort.

Meanwhile, far away in Tokyo-

Muzan Kibutsuji walked beneath bright streetlights, arm in arm with a human woman.

Suddenly, he stopped.

His eyes turned cold.

One of the Twelve Kizuki had died.

Lower Rank Five.

Rui.

The woman noticed nothing.

Seeing him pause, she asked softly, "What's wrong, Tsukihiko?"

"Nothing," Muzan replied, smiling gently.

Her cheeks flushed.

Her husband was truly handsome.

"I'm tired," Muzan said. "Let's go home."

She nodded immediately.

Back on Mount Natagumo, Emiya didn't leave right away.

He knew Muzan would sense Rui's death.

So he waited.

He wanted to see if Muzan would send anyone to investigate.

If so, he'd eat them.

Night passed.

Dawn came.

No demons arrived.

Emiya clicked his tongue.

So this was the famous "scum boss."

A Twelve Kizuki died, and he didn't even investigate.

Pathetic.

With no choice, Emiya opened an air-door and returned to Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters with Shinobu.

The moment he arrived, Hephaestus was already waiting.

"You're back."

"Something wrong?" Emiya asked casually.

They were close enough to skip formalities.

Hephaestus nodded.

"The Swordsmiths have joined my Familia. They'll supply scarlet ore every year."

She paused.

"My business here is finished."

Then she looked at him directly.

"Send me back."
