Chapter 1 - chapter 1

The Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

The concert was ending, but the streets outside the stadium were just waking up.

Hundreds of fans were screaming, holding banners, and flashing their phones like stars in the night sky. His name echoed everywhere—Adrian Cole.

The superstar.

He was on billboards, on every girl's lock screen, on the front cover of every gossip magazine. The golden boy of the music world. Untouchable.

And I? I was nobody.

Just a girl who had stopped by the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Move, move, move!" a security guard barked as the crowd pressed forward. My shopping bags nearly slipped from my arms as I was shoved into the barricade. I hadn't even come for the concert—I'd just been trying to take a shortcut home.

Then it happened.

A sleek black car stopped right in front of me. Doors opened. The screams doubled in volume. And out stepped him.

Adrian Cole.

Golden hair glinting under the floodlights, sharp jawline, dressed in a flawless black suit. His expression was unreadable, cool as ice. Cameras clicked furiously.

I froze, my breath caught in my throat.

And in that exact second—fate played its cruelest trick.

Someone pushed me from behind, and I stumbled forward. Right into him.

My shopping bags spilled, fruits and vegetables rolling across the pavement. My forehead smacked against his chest. I gasped, looking up.

His eyes—cold, gray, piercing—locked onto mine.

The world went silent.

Then—

Click. Click. Click.

Paparazzi cameras exploded like fireworks.

"Who is she?!"

"Is that Adrian's girlfriend?!"

"New mystery woman spotted!"

I staggered back, face burning. "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean—"

Adrian didn't speak. His bodyguards closed in instantly, pushing the paparazzi away, but not fast enough. Photos had already been taken.

The superstar's eyes narrowed at me, and in a voice low enough for only me to hear, he said:

"Stay out of my way."

Then he swept into his car, doors slammed shut, and the vehicle sped away—leaving me trembling, humiliated, and surrounded by flashing cameras.

---

The next morning, my phone nearly exploded.

My name wasn't even trending because nobody knew it—but my face was everywhere.

[ MYSTERY GIRL CAUGHT WITH ADRIAN COLE! ]

[ IS THIS THE END OF HIS OVERSEAS LOVE STORY? ]

[ FANS DEMAND ANSWERS: WHO IS SHE? ]

I groaned, burying my face in my pillow. "I'm doomed…"

The door to my tiny apartment creaked open. My best friend, Tessa, barged in with her phone held high.

"Girl! You're famous!" she squealed.

I bolted upright. "Famous? More like infamous!"

"Look at this!" She shoved her phone at me.

On the screen was a grainy photo of me colliding with Adrian. My face was red, my hair a mess, shopping bags spilling everywhere. I looked like a clumsy extra in a drama.

"Ughhh…" I pulled the blanket over my head. "Kill me now."

But Tessa ripped it away, grinning like a maniac. "Don't you get it? This is your chance!"

"Chance for what? To get murdered by his fangirls?"

"No, silly. Chance to make him fall in love with you!"

I blinked at her like she'd grown two heads. "Tessa. He hates me. Did you not hear him? He literally said, 'Stay out of my way.'"

She shrugged. "That's how every romance novel starts. Cold guy, persistent girl. He rejects you, you keep trying. Boom. True love."

I opened my mouth to argue… then closed it.

Because somewhere, deep inside me, a dangerous little voice whispered: What if?

What if I could make Adrian Cole fall for me?

The world's biggest superstar. The man every woman wanted. The man who looked at me like I was trash under his shoes.

My heart thudded at the thought. It was insane. Impossible. But…

I wasn't going to give up before I even tried.

---

That afternoon, I stood outside Adrian's recording studio, clutching a cheap coffee cup like it was a golden ticket. My hands were shaking.

This is stupid. He won't even look at you.

But I forced myself to stay.

Minutes later, his car pulled up. His bodyguards stepped out first, scanning the street. Then Adrian emerged, sunglasses shielding his eyes, his aura screaming "untouchable."

Gasps and squeals erupted from nearby fans.

I took a deep breath, stepped forward, and held out the coffee.

"For you," I blurted. "You looked tired yesterday…"

His steps froze. For a second, he didn't move. His gaze lowered to the cup, then lifted to my face.

Recognition flashed in his eyes. His jaw clenched.

And then—he brushed past me without a word.

The cup slipped from my hand, splashing onto the pavement.

Gasps erupted from the fans. Whispers spread like wildfire.

"She's the girl from last night!"

"She's chasing him!"

"Who does she think she is?"

My cheeks burned. My heart ached. But I swallowed hard and forced a smile.

Fine. If he wanted to ignore me, let him.

This was just the beginning.

I was going to make Adrian Cole fall in love with me.

Even if it killed me.
