Chapter 59 - Vampires

The living room was quiet.

Too quiet.

Everyone was seated.

Tea had been served.

And Nate stood there like a man explaining how he accidentally caused a national incident.

He sighed.

"And that's why I brought everyone here… and used Wazzat to make the school forget."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Moka Akashiya was still red.

Not slightly red.

Not embarrassed red.

Critical system failure red.

Across from her, Akasha Bloodriver calmly sipped her tea like this was a perfectly normal afternoon.

Beside her, Issa Shuzen sat like a noble statue, observing everything.

Yasaka poured more tea with practiced elegance.

Lily sat straight, composed.

Aaron leaned back, clearly enjoying himself way too much.

Kunou?

Still glued to Nate's side.

Tail flicking happily.

"Nate handled it well."

Nate closed his eyes.

'I did not handle it well.'

Across the table, Akasha set her cup down gently.

"Thank you for the explanation."

She smiled.

"Though I believe the situation was quite clear."

Moka squeaked.

"Mother please don't say it again—!"

Akasha continued anyway.

"As I said earlier, I consider Nate a very suitable candidate for my daughter's future."

Moka's soul tried to leave her body.

"Mother!!"

Nate rubbed his face.

'This is not happening.'

Kunou immediately stepped forward.

"No."

Everyone looked at her.

She pointed at Nate.

"He is already promised to me."

Yasaka calmly added, "That is correct."

Akasha tilted her head slightly.

"Ah. The fox clan's arrangement."

Her tone wasn't hostile.

Just… evaluating.

Issa finally spoke, his voice calm and measured.

"Then this becomes a matter of compatibility and intent."

Aaron leaned forward slightly.

"Oh this just became a negotiation."

Lily sighed softly.

"Please don't encourage them."

Nate raised his hand slowly.

"Can I just say something?"

Everyone looked at him.

He took a deep breath.

"I think everyone is moving a bit fast."

Moka nodded rapidly.

"Yes! Way too fast!"

Kunou shook her head.

"No, this is normal."

Nate looked at her.

"…For you, maybe."

Akasha watched Nate carefully now.

Not as a child.

Not as a student.

But as a potential figure in her daughter's future.

"You are not opposed?" she asked gently.

Nate paused.

'Careful.'

Very careful.

He glanced at Moka.

She looked like she might faint.

Then at Kunou.

Who looked like she would start a war if needed.

Then at all the adults.

Who were treating this like a political summit.

Nate exhaled slowly.

"I'm not rejecting anything."

Everyone leaned in slightly.

"But…"

He continued,

"I'm also not agreeing to anything right now."

That answer landed.

Balanced.

Careful.

Yasaka gave a small approving nod.

Lily smiled faintly.

Aaron whispered, "Good answer."

Akasha's smile widened slightly.

"Wise."

Issa nodded once.

"Measured."

Moka looked like she could breathe again.

Kunou pouted slightly but didn't argue.

The tension didn't disappear.

But it shifted.

From chaos—

To negotiation.

Akasha lifted her tea again.

"Then perhaps," she said calmly,

"We should begin by understanding each other properly."

She looked at Nate.

"Starting with you."

The air grew just a bit heavier.

Because now—

This wasn't just about a joke.

Or an accident.

Or even a school incident.

This was about vampire nobility recognizing something in Nate.

And deciding he was worth considering.

Nate sat down slowly.

'…Yeah.'

'Running away didn't solve anything.'

Across the room, Whisper floated nervously.

"…Master Nate," he whispered,

"This feels like the beginning of something very complicated."

Nate stared at the table.

"…You don't say."

Whisper floated closer, tablet already out like this was a routine update.

"Master Nate," Whisper said, adjusting his glasses dramatically, "should I add her to the list?"

Nate didn't even hesitate anymore.

He just sighed, long and tired.

"Sure. At this point… why not. But put her under Maybe – Temporary."

Silence.

Then—

Moka Akashiya blinked.

"…List?"

Whisper froze.

Then coughed.

"…Master Nate's… harem list."

Moka paused.

Her brain tried to process that.

Failed.

Restarted.

"I'm sorry—what?"

Across from her, Akasha Bloodriver smiled gently, like she was explaining basic etiquette.

"Ah, right. We forgot to mention."

She placed a hand lightly on Moka's shoulder.

"The Yokai King traditionally has multiple partners."

Moka's soul left her body again.

Meanwhile Nate just stared at the ceiling.

"Why does every faction know that…"

Lily answered calmly.

"Serafall Leviathan."

Nate's eye twitched.

A visible tick mark appeared.

"…Water fairy."

He dragged a hand down his face.

"Just… why?"

Somewhere in the Underworld—

Serafall Leviathan suddenly sneezed.

"…Huh? Someone talking about me?"

Back in the room—

Issa Shuzen finally spoke, tone thoughtful.

"I do not understand."

He looked at Kunou.

"If he already has multiple partners… why is she reacting this way?"

All eyes turned to Kunou.

Yasaka answered instead, calm and direct.

"My daughter is not jealous of Nate's other partners…"

She paused slightly.

"Not because she wants him entirely for herself."

A beat.

"Fuck," Nate said.

Everyone turned to him.

Nate slowly looked around.

"…We forgot a few people."

Cut to:

Y Academy.

The now mostly empty gym.

Four girls stood there.

Very still.

Very quiet.

Hailey Anne Thomas crossed her arms.

"…He forgot us."

Beside her, Fumika Kodama nodded slowly.

"…He really did."

Mizore Shirayuki's temperature dropped.

Kurumu Kurono smiled.

Not a happy smile.

"Oh… he's dead."

On the floor, Kuroka in her cat form flicked her tail.

"Nyahaha… this is gonna be fun."

Back at Nate's house—

Yasaka sighed.

"They're going to be mad."

Nate was already mentally calculating.

Apologies.

Dates.

Gifts.

Damage control.

"I know."

Yasaka continued, calmly bringing the conversation back on track.

"As I was saying…"

She looked at Akasha and Issa.

"Kunou accepts that Nate's love can be shared."

Kunou nodded proudly.

"Nate's love is big!"

Yasaka's gaze sharpened slightly.

"But."

She looked directly at Moka.

"She becomes jealous when she believes her position is threatened."

Moka blinked.

"My… position?"

Yasaka said it plainly.

"Head wife."

Silence.

Moka froze.

Kunou crossed her arms and stepped slightly in front of Nate.

Fox ears twitching under illusion.

"I was first."

Akasha smiled, amused.

"I see."

Issa observed quietly.

Analyzing.

Evaluating.

And Nate?

He stared into the void.

'This is no longer a conversation.'

'This is a ranking war.'

And somewhere far away—

Five very angry girls were about to arrive.

Very soon.

Nate finally dropped into his seat.

He had been standing through way too much chaos for one day.

He exhaled.

"Alright… before anything else happens—and before five very angry girls show up…"

He leaned forward slightly and looked at the vampire nobles.

"Do you know someone named…"

He paused just a fraction.

"…Elmenhilde Karnstein?"

The room shifted.

Subtle.

But noticeable.

Lily immediately turned her head toward him.

"Nate… how do you know that name?"

Nate didn't hesitate.

"I had Hovernyan and Agent Spect-hare scout the vampire territories."

Issa's eyes sharpened slightly.

"You sent Yo-kai… into vampire territory?"

Nate met his gaze evenly.

"Yes."

A brief silence followed.

Not hostile.

But assessing.

Akasha suddenly chuckled softly, clearly amused.

"The Yokai King truly does as he pleases."

She rested her chin lightly on her hand.

"But yes… we are aware of her."

She spoke the name without fear.

"Elmenhilde Karnstein."

Moka blinked.

"…Who?"

Issa answered this time, voice calm.

"A pure-blood vampire."

He continued.

"One who leads a faction that opposes the current devil–vampire relations."

Akasha added, tone still light—but with an edge underneath.

"An all-female faction, if rumors are to be believed."

She took a sip of her tea before continuing.

"We have never formally met."

A pause.

Then—

"But we have clashed."

The temperature in the room dropped just slightly.

Moka stiffened.

"…Clashed?"

Akasha's smile didn't disappear.

But it sharpened.

"She believes families like ours…"

She tapped her cup lightly.

"…are no different from the old vampire aristocracy."

Her eyes flicked briefly toward Nate.

"Oppressors. Traditionalists. Relics that should be removed."

Issa added quietly,

"She rejects alliances with devils entirely."

Nate leaned back slightly.

Listening.

Processing.

'So she's active…'

'And already in conflict with the major houses.'

Akasha continued,

"And more importantly…"

Her gaze narrowed just a touch.

"She is very interested in power shifts."

Another sip.

"Which means…"

She looked directly at Nate now.

"…she will eventually become interested in you."

Silence again.

This time heavier.

Nate closed his eyes for a second.

'There it is.'

'Another problem.'

'Of course there is.'

He spoke in his head.

'Of course the Karnstein faction exists here too.'

'And of course she's already making moves.'

Across the room, Whisper slowly raised his tablet.

"…Master Nate."

"…Should I create a new category?"

Nate didn't even open his eyes.

"…Don't say it."

Whisper whispered anyway.

"Potential enemy… possible future addition…?"

Nate pointed at him without looking.

"No."

A beat.

"…Maybe."

Moka looked between them, completely lost.

"I feel like I just walked into something way bigger than school drama."

Kunou crossed her arms.

"If she comes for Nate, I will fight her."

Yasaka nodded once.

"That would not be avoidable."

Lily added calmly,

"And it would not stay a small conflict."

Issa leaned back slightly.

"This is no longer about individual factions."

Akasha finished the thought.

"It's about balance."

Nate opened his eyes again.

Slowly.

"…Yeah."

Nate blinked once, then slowly turned to Moka.

"Wait… actually, I have a question."

He pointed—very gently.

"Why don't you know who Elmenhilde Karnstein is?"

Silence.

All eyes turned to Moka.

Moka froze.

"…I… should I know?"

Nate looked back at her parents.

Akasha suddenly looked very interested in her tea.

"…We may have… sheltered her."

Nate narrowed his eyes slightly.

"…How much?"

Aaron leaned forward, curious now.

"Yeah, how much are we talking?"

Issa answered.

Calm.

Completely serious.

"She believed until recently… that chocolate milk came from brown cows."

A beat.

The room went dead silent.

Then—

Nate slowly turned his head back toward Moka.

"…Please tell me that's not true."

Moka turned bright red instantly.

"I WAS YOUNG!"

Kunou blinked.

"That's not true?"

Yasaka sighed.

"No, Kunou."

Whisper typed something into his tablet.

"…Adding 'educational gaps' to notes…"

Lily pressed her fingers to her temple.

Akasha coughed lightly, trying to recover dignity.

"We prioritized her safety."

Issa nodded.

"She was raised away from factional conflict, politics, and hostile bloodlines."

Moka looked down, embarrassed.

"I… didn't even know there were different vampire factions until recently…"

Nate leaned back slightly.

'…Okay.'

'That explains a lot.'

He looked at her again—this time softer.

"So you didn't know about Karnstein, faction conflicts, or anti-devil groups?"

Moka shook her head.

"No…"

Akasha added gently,

"We intended to introduce her to these matters gradually."

Aaron chuckled.

"And instead she got dropped into a room with a Yokai King, Fox Queen, and Underworld Judge in one day."

Moka nodded weakly.

"…Yes."

Kunou patted her shoulder.

"Don't worry, it only gets crazier."

Moka looked at her.

"…That's not comforting."

Nate sighed again.

"Alright… so we're dealing with an external faction leader who might target us…"

He pointed at Moka.

"…and the person most connected to vampire nobility didn't even know she existed."

Whisper raised his hand.

"Summary: situation very bad?"

Nate nodded.

"…Situation very bad."

Then he leaned back and muttered to himself—

'Yeah… this is definitely going to turn into a problem.'

And somewhere out there—

A certain Karnstein vampire probably didn't even know yet—

That her future headache was currently sitting in a living room… dealing with chocolate milk lore.

Once everything was done one question was asked

Issa looked at Nate. "Now, my wife thinks your a perfect match for my daughter, but I don't".

Nate looked at Issa. "Why is that".

Issa looked at Moka Rosario. "Because the only way I can see that, if you can remove her Rosario".

Issa's words hung in the air.

Serious.

Measured.

A condition—not a joke.

"If you can remove her Rosario… then I can consider it."

Nate had already guessed.

'Yeah… inner Moka.'

He didn't say it out loud.

Instead, he looked straight at Issa Shuzen.

"Why is that?"

Issa's gaze shifted to his daughter.

"Because that seal exists for a reason."

Akasha sighed softly, stepping in.

"It's not just a limiter."

She looked at Nate.

"Moka has… a second personality."

Everyone went quiet again.

Nate turned to Moka Akashiya.

"…Right."

Then—

Nate pointed at the Rosario.

"So, uh… can I touch it?"

Record scratch.

Every single person in the room turned to him.

Dead silence.

Nate immediately raised both hands.

"I MEANT THE ROSARIO."

A beat.

"I am a pervert, but not that type of pervert."

Aaron burst out laughing.

Lily sighed.

Yasaka closed her eyes.

Akasha covered her mouth, trying not to laugh.

Issa just slowly nodded.

"…Proceed."

Moka, completely red again, looked away.

"S-sure…"

Nate stepped closer.

Gently.

Carefully.

He reached out and wrapped his fingers around the cross at her neck.

'It's not like it's going to work…'

That's what he thought.

He gave a light pull—

Click.

The chain came loose.

For a split second—

Nothing.

Then—

Energy erupted.

A sharp pulse burst outward.

Wind whipped through the room.

Spiritual pressure spiked instantly.

Moka's head tilted slightly.

Her pink hair—

Shifted.

Faded.

Turned—

Silver.

Her aura changed completely.

From soft and gentle—

To something ancient.

Cold.

Overwhelming.

Nate froze.

Everyone froze.

And inside his head—

'…Why do I even open my mouth.'

The girl in front of him slowly lifted her head.

Her eyes now sharp.

Focused.

Dangerous.

Not the shy girl from before.

Not even close.

This was—

True Moka.

The room felt heavier.

Even Yasaka's expression shifted slightly.

Issa watched closely.

Akasha's smile faded into something more serious.

And Nate?

Still holding the Rosario in his hand—

Realized very quickly—

'…Yeah.'

'This just escalated.'
