Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - A Fox Among Dragons

(3rd Person POV)

Worlds. Universes. Realities. Call them what you want.

Across the infinite multiverse, stories are born every second. Some end quietly, with whispers fading into obscurity. Others explode in chaos, remembered for eternity.

This one? It starts with a fox.

Not an ordinary fox. A nine-tailed one.

This is the story of Nova Tempest—a god disguised as a beast, born from a mistake called reincarnation.

Earth – Before Death

Nova rushed down the street, his headphones bouncing loosely around his neck. Neon lights flickered on rain-slick concrete, cars honked in the distance, and the city pulsed with life. None of it mattered to him. His expression was the same as always: deadpan, detached, unreadable.

'Late again. Not like I care.'

He turned a corner, weaving past pedestrians, when his eyes brushed over a man in black. At first glance, nothing stood out. Just another face in the crowd. Until the man turned.

BANG.

The world slowed. Nova staggered as a sudden impact hit his chest. Instinct told him pain should follow—searing, unbearable pain. But instead, there was only a strange emptiness.

He looked down. Red spread across his shirt like spilled paint. Blood. Too much of it.

'Oh. So this is how it ends. Father's lapdog finally grew some balls.'

His cold gaze lifted to the man's trembling hands, still gripping the gun.

'Figures. Should've expected this sooner.'

The city around him blurred, sound fading into a dull hum as his vision dimmed. He should have felt fear. Rage. Desperation. Instead, there was only boredom.

'If I ever get reincarnated… I'm nuking everything. No exceptions.'

Darkness swallowed his thoughts.

'…What.'

A thought drifted into the void. Nova blinked—at least, he thought he did.

'You've got to be kidding me. Tensura? Of all worlds?'

A groan echoed in his head, half exasperation, half disbelief.

'Alright. If I'm playing this game, I'm breaking it.'

"Voice. Give me Raphael. The Ultimate Skill."

A smirk tugged at his lips.

'Good start. Now, all skills. Every single one.'

(Nova POV)

Holy hell. That worked. That actually worked.

Warmth. Then light. My senses expanded in ways they never had before—like someone had turned up reality's resolution a hundredfold. But… something was off. My body felt wrong.

'Why do I feel fluffy?'

I looked down—or tried to.

White fur. Nine tails, each twitching like impatient serpents.

'Of course. Nine-tailed fox. Great. At least it's stylish.'

The cavern around me shimmered with faint blue light, crystals jutting out of the stone walls like frozen stars. Magicules hung thick in the air, pressing down like invisible weights.

And then—

"Oh? A visitor?"

The voice shook the cavern. Deep, ancient, carrying a weight that could crush nations.

I turned.

There he was, behind a barrier of swirling magicules—the Storm Dragon himself.

Veldora.

'Yup. Definitely Tensura.'

(3rd Person POV)

The colossal black dragon unfurled his wings, golden eyes glowing with intrigue.

"Interesting… Another reincarnated one?" Veldora rumbled, his voice vibrating the stone. "You reek of power, little fox. Tell me your name."

Nova's mouth opened, then closed again.

'Name? Right. Didn't pick one. Whatever. Let him do it.'

Before Nova could respond, Veldora grinned wide, teeth like jagged mountains.

"No need! I shall name you myself. From this day forth, you are—NOVA TEMPEST!"

(Nova POV)

Holy crap. It's happening. Power—raw, endless power—surged through me, flooding every nerve, every fragment of my soul. My body trembled as if being torn apart and reforged at once.

'Okay… breathe. Or whatever foxes do.'

The glow intensified.

'Wait. What? Already?'

[Notice: Manas: Ciel has been born]

A calm, feminine voice slipped into his mind. Smooth. Elegant. Comforting.

'…Oh no.'

So it begins.

'System waifu unlocked. Great. Just great.'

I sighed mentally.

"Ciel, right? Yeah, cool. Just… do your thing and make me even more broken."

<>

'…I didn't even explain what I wanted yet.'

<>

…Okay. Creepy.

(3rd Person POV)

Nova's form pulsed with brilliance, his nine tails cutting arcs of silver light through the cavern. Magicules whipped into violent storms, bending to his will.

Veldora's jaw slackened.

"…What the hell are you?"

Nova's mismatched eyes—one crimson, one teal-blue—snapped open. His smirk was sharp, almost feral.

"Someone who's about to break this world beyond repair."

The dragon roared with laughter, the sound shaking loose dust from the cavern ceiling.

"I like you! Tell me, partner, what do you plan to do now?"

Nova tilted his head, tails swaying lazily.

"Simple. Survive this… AU nightmare. Because if I'm right, the Slime who should be here?" His grin widened. "She's a girl."

"…Ho? A female Rimuru?" Veldora's grin mirrored his, eyes gleaming with delight. "Things just got interesting."

Nova's gaze drifted upward, piercing the cave's ceiling as if staring through fate itself.

'Great. I'm in an AU with genderbent Rimuru. I'm OP as hell. I've got an over-attached skill-waifu in my head. And now a dragon wants to be my best friend.'

His smirk sharpened.

'Let's make this fun.'
