Chapter 1 - The world is unfair.

Why is this world so unfair?

When this world takes everything from you, you're left confused. Why doesn't it let me live a life like ordinary people? I just want to be an ordinary person—that's all.

"Volt, let's go," my aunt called, asking me to go to their house and stay with them forever. Why, I wondered? Didn't she know? It's because my parents had passed away about a month ago.

I got into the car while my uncle drove. There were two things I could do: either stare out the window or talk to my aunt about something. But I soon fell asleep.

"Volt, we've arrived," my aunt said loudly to wake me up.

"Yes, yes, I'm awake," I replied.

I looked at their house—it was enormous, even though it was in a very expensive area. As I entered, I glanced at the garden, which had swings, chairs, and around it, flowers and cherry trees. The view was beautiful. I greeted my cousins.

"Come with me, we'll go to your room," my aunt said.

"My room?" I looked at her in surprise—I didn't know she had prepared a room for me.

I entered the room on the second floor. "This is your room from now on," she said, looking around.

I looked at the room: there was a bed by the window, a desk and chair to the left of it, and a large wardrobe for clothes. I sat on the bed and looked at my aunt.

"Thank you. I don't know how to repay you," I said, glancing at the desk.

"It's nothing. Go to sleep—you have school tomorrow," she said with a smile.

I closed the door and fell asleep. I dreamed of a childhood friend I had met only once. Her face was blurred, but I still remembered her name.

7:00 AM

I woke up to sunlight streaming through the window, reflecting on my white blanket. The room was bright because the window was large. I pushed the blanket away and quickly went downstairs for breakfast.

"Good morning, Aunt, Uncle," I said as I looked at them.

"Good morning," they replied.

We talked about funny things that had happened to me.

I put on my new school uniform: a dark blazer over a white shirt, a blue-and-white striped tie, black pants, and white shoes. I went to school without a bag because I didn't even have textbooks.

While exploring the city a bit, I entered the school. It was huge, with spacious gardens for recreation. Many students were staring and talking about me.

"Look at him! He's so handsome," one girl whispered to her friend.

"He's tall too—how tall is he?" another girl said.

"What's so great about him is… wait… let's grab a drink," a boy said to his friends.

I looked around. The students seemed as they always had—some jealous, some surprised.

"Why are these students still like this?" I thought, feeling bored.

"I won't make the same mistake again," I reminded myself.

I observed all the students, not looking down, and smiled in a sly, almost mischievous way.

I approached the students talking about me, brushing past the boy who stepped back from the collision.

"Oh… sorry, I didn't mean it," he said, looking away.

"No worries," I replied calmly.

I went to the girls because I knew they were more empathetic than the boys. One of them said,

"Excuse me, are you a new student?" She looked at me in surprise.

I knew I was handsome, but why did the students always resent me, while the girls seemed to like me? Who even cares?

"Yes, can you take me to tenth grade?" I asked.

"Yes, of course, I'll show you," she said, glancing upward slightly.

She led me to my class. On the way, I caught every student's attention.

"This is tenth grade—they're having a lesson now," she said, looking toward the class.

"Excuse me, what's your name?"

"My name is Volt… thanks for taking me to the class," I said with a polite but slightly forced smile.

"No problem… see you," she said, blushing.

"Hmm, so they're having a lesson," I thought.

"I shouldn't follow my old style… I need to make the most of every moment and capture every bit of attention," I reminded myself.

---

When I entered the class,

"Oh… you're the new student who transferred here," said the teacher.

"Introduce yourself," she instructed.

"My name is Volt, that's all," I said loudly so everyone could hear.

I scanned all the students with a strange look, as if saying, Is he confident or just arrogant?

The teacher looked to the left and told me,

"Sit in the last row, next to the girl by the window."

I walked there without carrying anything, while students stared—some impressed, some arrogant, some curious.

One girl whispered to her friend, "Isn't he as tall as Rin and Klein?"

"Maybe," her friend replied.

I sat down, looking straight ahead, my right arm resting casually.

"Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Rin, and that's Klein in front of me," said the boy sitting across.

"Oh, nice to meet you guys," I replied with a smile.

"Rin, that's enough talking," said the teacher.

She began explaining math, but I didn't understand much. I glanced to my left and saw a girl with dark hair and light brown eyes, leaning slightly hazel. I looked at her in awe.

Wait, what am I staring at? Just ask her, I thought.

"Excuse me, can I borrow your book for a moment?" I asked her.

"Yes, of course," she said, looking into my eyes. Then she added, "Why don't we put our desks together?"

"How?" I asked.

She moved her desk next to mine so we could both see the book she placed in the middle. She was close, and a pleasant scent wafted from her.

"So, what's your name?" I asked in a low voice.

"Guess," she whispered.

"I'm not good at this game," I replied.

"Hehe," she laughed.

"My name is Hyana."

"Beautiful name."

"Ah… thanks," she said, turning her head to the window.

Twenty minutes passed like this until

"Hey, Volt, what school did you come from?" someone asked while looking at the board.

"From a school so far away, you'd hate its name," I replied.

"Even you, new student, that's enough talking," the teacher said loudly.

"Hehe," I thought, smiling.

I tapped Rin from behind. He turned.

"Ah… what?" he asked.

"Rin," the teacher looked at him from above while he glanced at me. His expression was quite funny.

"Go out of the class," she said.

Rin left without arguing but looked back at me proudly and smiled, as if wanting to leave. She closed the door.

Hyana laughed, and another girl in front of her chuckled slightly.

"You should make this the punishment for any student who does this," Klein said confidently, teasing the teacher.

"Do you want to go out with him too?"

"Ah… no!"

Everyone laughed.

The lesson is over, and now I have to go pick up the books.

I wonder how I will live my life… and whether I can make it better than before?
