Chapter 6 - Chapter Six: The Night of Hidden Truths

The night had fallen gently over the city, wrapping everything in a silver glow. From her balcony, Lina watched the lights shimmer like fallen stars scattered on the earth. Yet, no matter how beautiful the night looked, her heart raced with unanswered questions.

Why did Adrian always appear when she needed him most? Why did his eyes hold both pain and secrets?

That evening, her phone buzzed. A message appeared:

"Meet me at the old library. Midnight."

No name. No number. Just those words.

Her heart pounded. She hesitated, staring at the glowing screen. Something deep inside told her it was him.

At midnight, she walked through the quiet streets, the air cool against her skin. The library stood like a ghost from another era, its tall windows dark, its gates slightly open.

Inside, the air smelled of dust and forgotten stories. Shadows stretched across the hall, and there he was—Adrian—standing by a shelf, his face lit by the faint glow of a lantern.

"Lina," he whispered, his voice low but trembling, as if he had been waiting for this moment.

"I need to tell you something… something that will change everything you thought you knew about me."

Her breath caught in her throat. She stepped closer, her eyes locked on his.

But before he could speak, a sudden noise echoed through the library—footsteps, quick and sharp. Adrian froze, his jaw tightening. He grabbed Lina's hand.

"They found us," he hissed, pulling her toward the back door.

"Who?!" she demanded, fear twisting in her chest.

But Adrian didn't answer. His grip on her hand was strong, desperate. And in that moment, Lina realized…

Adrian wasn't just hiding secrets.

He was hiding from someone.
