Chapter 9 - 9

After Frank and the small leader Owen arrived.

Raine quickly finished his Cultivation, rose from the futon on a high platform in the Dao 場, and led the two of them into a room similar to a living room.

In this room, there were exquisite rockeries and flowing water, as well as a tranquil pond with lotus flowers.

Clear flowing water encircled the rockeries and the small, ornate channels underfoot, converging into the tranquil pond, creating a wispy White mist.

This Water was Spiritual Water nourished by the Spiritual Qi of the stars.

The lotus was an unusual Spiritual Plant that Raine had specially cultivated.

The landscape of mountains, Water, and clear springs, combined with the Spiritual Plants, formed a peculiar Feng Shui arrangement that could calm the mind and nourish spirituality.

The only pity was that the tranquil pond still lacked two Spiritual Fish.

Otherwise, with living creatures in the still Water, this Feng Shui arrangement could be fully activated, increasing its effectiveness several times over.

But even so.

The unique unity of Heaven and man, characteristic of Eastern Daoism, deeply impressed Frank.

"BOSS, is there some magic here?"

"I feel that here, my originally restless and bloodthirsty mind has become exceptionally peaceful and comfortable."

Frank was not a person to beat around the bush; he directly raised his question.

At the same time, this was undoubtedly a test of Raine.

One could only say that this test was too crude.

However, for a typical U.S. soldier and tough guy like Frank, this was probably his limit.

"This is my temporary Immortal Cave in the city center. Uh, you can understand it as a research institute with living quarters."

"And the power I cultivate is not magic, but Dao magic."

"In this Immortal Cave, there is Spiritual Qi, which you perceive as extraordinary natural energy. After being arranged, it forms a special magnetic field that can calm the mind and nourish wisdom."

Raine quickly invited the two to sit, casually brewing tea, exuding an air of high nobility.

After a short while, a pot of Spiritual Tea was brewed.

Owen, who had been here once before, showed obvious joy and anticipation upon seeing the Spiritual Tea in front of him, carefully sipping the tea.

In fact, this Spiritual Tea was not a treasure.

After all, Raine's Dao 場 had only been built for a little over a year.

The so-called Spiritual Tea was merely Spiritual Qi infused into Water; after brewing, ordinary people drinking it could remove certain old injuries, restoring those in sub-healthy states to full health.

But even so, for someone like Owen, it was extremely precious.

Frank, seeing this, was also a little curious. After tasting it, he immediately drank it all in one gulp.

"BOSS, to be honest, this Water is a bit bitter and not very good to drink. I'd rather have some whiskey, or if not, rum or vodka would also be fine."

Hearing Frank's words, Raine's face darkened.

Damn it, I knew it was a waste to expect these barbarians to appreciate the Dao of tea.

Raine looked at Frank disdainfully and said, "A wild boar can't appreciate fine grain. Just wait for the Spiritual Qi in the tea to take effect."

Raine calmly sipped his tea.

Owen, sipping his tea little by little, also gave Frank a disdainful look.

Just as Frank was about to say something, the Spiritual Qi in the tea began to disperse, as if tiny, dense warm currents, carrying rich vitality, were repairing Frank's countless hidden injuries.

This feeling was even more comfortable than getting a spa from a girl in a hot spring.

For a full five minutes.

The effects of the Spiritual Qi in the tea had finished, and a feeling of lingering satisfaction appeared on Frank's face.

After a pause, Frank shamelessly said, "BOSS, you're right, I'm a wild boar. Give me some more of that bitter Water, no, I mean tea."

Crude, savage, but quite capable.

If he didn't lack capable generals, Raine wouldn't even glance at a rough guy like Frank.

Alas, in the Early Stage of starting a business, one could only make do.

Raine calmly drank his tea, pointing at the teapot and saying, "If you want to drink, pour it yourself."

As for his subordinates, as long as they performed well and remained loyal, Raine didn't mind cultivating them to a certain extent.

In this World, which was a disguised era of the decline of magic.

Raine wanted to Cultivation and reach a higher Realm, and he needed many helpers to expand his influence, accumulate wealth, research technology, and so on.

Raine had understood this from the very beginning of his Cultivation.

Those gods and demons in the Marvel Universe were absolutely unreliable.

However, the various black technologies, biotechnologies, and so on in this World could help him create many resources to ascend the Immortal Dao.

In this situation, a general like Frank, if properly cultivated, would still be very useful.

And while Raine was sipping tea.

Frank, not being polite at all, quickly drank three cups of Spiritual Tea before feeling somewhat satisfied, saying, "BOSS, tonight, at the Cent Family's Villa, those black-skinned, clawed monsters, do you know about them?"

"Also, BOSS, this bead you gave me, it seems to..."

Raine directly interrupted him, saying, "They are Ghouls!"

Chapter 12: Completely Subduing Frank

The Marvel Universe was inherently a very grand, vast, and also very dangerous World.

After being stitched together with many movie Worlds whose names Raine couldn't even recall, this World naturally became even more complex and perilous.

It could be said that in such a grand environment.

Any rising power, if it didn't have a few unique skills or methods up its sleeve, even if it prospered for a time, would eventually be swallowed up.

Especially within the underground forces, no one knew what strange things were hidden there.

To put it more vividly.

The underground forces of this World were essentially a dark underworld hidden beneath the ordinary modern World.

Before Raine's cheap grandfather came to America.

The Sullivan Family of New York City, relying on a necromancy spell learned from who knows where, was able to summon Ghouls, which is how they became the undertaker Family of New York City.

And when Raine's cheap grandfather arrived, he took over, usurping the Sullivan Family.

Raine's cheap ancestors had a secret art of corpse driving and corpse refining, and they didn't care for the so-called necromancy. After relaxing their supervision over their subordinates, the Cent Family managed to acquire two Ghouls.

Over several decades, the Cent Family somehow managed to cultivate new Ghouls.

This led to the Cent Family establishing its own faction.

If it weren't for the Cent Family's shallow foundation, coupled with Raine's arrival, the Sullivan Family might have been completely replaced by the Cent Family by now.

So, Raine had some understanding of the Cent Family's background.

After Raine's explanation.

Frank also became somewhat solemn and serious.

Frank had indeed done well in the U.S. military before, but he had no connections or background, and his position and rank were not actually high, so he naturally had no access to the 'supernatural truth' of the inner World.

Now that he knew, Frank's heart was naturally very conflicted.

Those Ghouls, in terms of combat power alone, seemed very powerful to Frank.

Their strength and speed were more than three times that of ordinary people, and their 不死 ability was even more abnormal.

Even if those Ghouls had no intelligence, without sufficient preparation and firepower, Frank could at most deal with three to five Ghouls.

Any more, Frank would find it very difficult to cope.

Yet, in Raine's words, those Ghouls were merely cannon fodder level, the most insignificant of supernatural powers.

Although humans' strengths lay in intelligence and tools.

But truthfully, Frank deeply yearned to obtain such supernatural power.

Thinking of this.

Frank quickly took off the White Bone Bead hanging around his neck and said, "BOSS, is this your, uh, pet? Or a summon?"

Frank looked like a rough guy.

But in reality, being able to survive countless dangerous missions, Frank was also a rough man with a keen eye.

After learning about the 'supernatural truth' of the inner World, coupled with the two favors Raine had given him.

Frank had already decided to pledge his loyalty to Raine.

Raine was quite satisfied with Frank's display.

Immediately, Raine spoke, "This is a Withered Bone Demon, a Magical Artifact and Divine Ability combined, refined by me using a secret method."
