Chapter 8 - 8

In the U.S., Super Heroes face an increasingly difficult environment, drawing criticism from all sorts of people.

Because they are Super Heroes,

they are subjected to numerous moral constraints and emotional blackmail, yet despite this, some people remain unsatisfied.

They bully the weak and fear the strong.

Whether it's Superman, Captain America, Iron Man, or Batman, these individuals are too idealistic.

Luo Di believes that

the saying "with great power comes great responsibility" should have another line following it:

"With great power comes great authority, and with great authority comes great responsibility."

But clearly, Super Heroes cannot wield authority, so they can only be manipulated by those in power.

Only by not coveting authority can they be called Super Heroes.

As for Luo Di... if he gained Superman's power?

Emm... he doesn't eat cilantro!

Hate Homelander, understand Homelander... and finally, become Homelander!

...

However, he can't retreat now.

One reason is this World mission, which requires him to participate in and win the Battle of New York.

Luo Di isn't sure what "participate" means—does it mean being there the entire time?

So he has to stay here.

Furthermore, Avengers One can be said to be the easiest time to acquire the Infinity Stones.

The Mind Stone and the Tesseract are concentrated in one place.

He must obtain at least one, no matter what.

Even if he can't use the Infinity Stones himself, giving them to Devouring Luo Di or Dragon Clan Luo Di would essentially prevent the major event of Thanos's attack.

Without the Infinity Stones, Luo Di would like to see how he snaps his fingers!

In this World, the only one he can trust is himself.

But thankfully... he has countless selves.

Luo Di thought of this and breathed a sigh of relief, looking at the Black God Suit that protected him from harm and accumulated his first batch of points.

If not for this, he might be dead by now, or hiding in school, trembling.

...

"Then let's set a small goal: first, get the Tesseract!"

It would be best if he could get the Mind Stone, but it's not a big deal if he can't.

Luo Di doesn't know if this World has Mutants, or if it even mixes in DC like other novels.

If he takes the Mind Stone, it's hard to say whether Scarlet Witch Wanda and Quicksilver will still appear.

This could lead to a complete collapse of the plot, but the Tesseract is not a big deal.

Looking at it this way, he still wants the Mind Stone.

He can always get it during Avengers Two; it would be easier to retrieve it from HYDRA then.

And... so many Chitauri, it would be a shame not to farm points!

Luo Di still doesn't know how many points are needed to exchange items, but intuitively, the more points, the better.

After a brief recovery of his stamina,

Luo Di stood up, turned his head to look at the Nuclear Energy Lightsaber that had fallen about ten meters away, and hesitated before reaching out his hand.

"Whoosh—buzz!"

He grabbed the rapidly flying Lightsaber, and with a buzz, the shallow red light beam reappeared, putting Luo Di in a good mood.

Then he'll continue farming; points, he's absolutely certain, you can never have too many.

"Also, Gwen doesn't seem to be dead?"

Just before Luo Di left the school, somehow, among so many people, he happened to make eye contact with Gwen.

That's good news...

Chapter 8: Target: Stark Tower

Seventh District

At this moment, Captain Steve, America's heartthrob, was engaged in a bitter struggle on a highway bridge.

The energy rays fired by the Chitauri were at tricky angles, making them impossible to guard against.

Although Steve had the Super Soldier Serum, he had slept for too long, and even with continuous recovery training, he couldn't immediately return to his peak.

After nearly an hour of fighting, he was now starting to feel tired and overwhelmed.

"Bang—"

He turned around! He barely managed to knock down a Chitauri attempting a sneak attack with his shield.

But as he turned his head, a blue light ray shot towards him, luckily Steve raised his shield in time.

He deflected the blue light.

Boom—!

This coincidentally killed two Chitauri.

However, this small loss was negligible for the continuous stream of descending Chitauri army.

Just like when Luo Di was surrounded, nearly a hundred Chitauri had already gathered around Steve.

They approached cautiously, seemingly intending to surround him.

At a critical moment, Steve, using the force of an impact, flipped over, dodging several rays, and pressed his earpiece, roaring, "Stark... where are you? Hurry up, okay..."

Before Steve could finish, he heard a distant, somewhat annoying voice belonging to the playboy: "Hey, old man, don't worry, I'm already here... Shield!"

Iron Man descended from the sky, landing with a crash, concentrating energy into his palm repulsors and firing a laser beam towards Steve.

The Vibranium shield has the effect of reflecting energy, and with their cooperation, a wave of Angela's ultimate move swept away the surrounding small enemies like a whirlwind.

"Nice job, buddy..."

Steve, seeing that he could temporarily rest, felt his body weaken, knelt on one knee, panting heavily, but still gave a thumbs-up to Iron Man who had landed in front of him.

"Of course, I'm young and strong, old man, I think you should go rest." Stark said proudly, giving a peace sign.

He then helped Steve, who had fallen and struggled to stand up several times, back to his feet.

"This can't go on! Guys... we need to shut down this damn portal!"

Hawkeye's voice came through the earpiece, his breathing also very rapid; he sounded like he was parkouring.

"And I'm out of arrows..."

"Yes, we must shut down the portal." Steve nodded, and on the other side, several loud bangs came from the tall building to the right.

Building debris continuously fell, smashing onto the road, as the Hulk, at some unknown point, had jumped onto a massive Leviathan troop transport.

As thunder flashed in the sky, Thor, wielding Thor's Hammer, struck down heavily.

Even with its tough hide, the Leviathan battleship could not withstand this blow.

It let out a wail

and plummeted to the ground.

With a "boom," it exploded, raising a cloud of dust.

The ride had reached its destination.

Hulk and Thor leaped off the Leviathan, landing on the highway bridge, and in a few steps, reached Steve and Stark.

"We need to go to Stark Tower..." Thor said in a deep voice, casually tossing his golden hair.

"Thor, it's time for you to control the lightning! You are Thor, use your thunder to clear a path for us!"

Steve seized the time, quickly glanced at the Chitauri's defensive line set up at Stark Tower, and began to formulate a battle plan.

No one mentioned their difficulties; everyone was struggling, but they knew they couldn't stop, otherwise, the consequences would be unbearable.

"No problem, let me show you the might of Thor." Thor nodded, tapping his chest armor twice with a thud.

"Stark, you know your building best. Is there any way to close that door?"

Steve nodded with satisfaction, turning to look at Tony Stark.

"I don't know about closing the door, but..." At this, Stark's face showed some pain, but he still said in a deep voice:

"But I can try to destroy the building that supports the teleportation device, but this is just an attempt, the specific effect cannot be confirmed."

"That's your newly built headquarters, are you willing to give it up?" Steve was a bit surprised; even though he didn't interact much with the outside World, he knew the building was incredibly expensive.

"There's nothing to be willing or unwilling about. I won't watch my and my father's greatest invention become an aid to these aliens!" Stark said without hesitation.

"Alright, Hulk, you help attract frontal Firepower, giving Stark a chance to go shut down the energy." Steve nodded, turning to look at the Hulk.

The Hulk now possessed some rationality, no longer an ignorant newborn baby, and at this moment, he gave a 'Hulk smile' with a thumbs-up.

"Natasha, Barton, and I will act opportunistically, covering Stark or finding a way to shut down the portal."

Soon, Black Widow and Hawkeye's replies came through the earpiece: No problem!

"Alright everyone, let's go!"

Just as Steve finished speaking, he heard Stark hesitate: "Wait a moment, we might have another helper... I just discovered him, a very powerful guy wearing black armor. He killed at least hundreds of these aliens."

"What?" Steve was a bit stunned: "You mean you met another Super Hero?"

Although it wasn't yet the time for Super Heroes to appear in droves, Steve had already met a few local New York Super Heroes, such as a guy wearing strange clothing, with his face completely covered, seemingly called Night Daredevil.

There was also a man whose killing speed was no less than his own, but who exuded a cold killing intent.

"He's different from the others... he's very strong, and he seems to have some... superpowers, just like this one." Stark looked at Thor's Hammer.

"His suit can produce some needle-like tools, and his killing speed is very fast."

"Alright... find him, tell him our plan, that way we'll have a better chance of success." Steve didn't ask much; subconsciously, he had already determined that the person Stark was talking about was also a Super Hero.

"Of course... I'll go find him." Stark knew the consequences if this plan failed, so he nodded seriously, then propelled himself into the sky with jets from his hands and feet.

"Jarvis, search for that person with all your might!"

"Of course, sir, I am already searching." Jarvis immediately replied. Without a doubt, having Jarvis greatly boosted Stark's combat power, at least in the early stages.

Soon, Jarvis hacked into all the surveillance cameras in Upper Manhattan and found a figure constantly leaping through tall buildings.

"I found him, sir. He is in the Third District, constantly approaching Stark Tower... it seems he also knows to go stop the portal from continuing to open."

"Very good, let's go!" Stark nodded with satisfaction, but then Jarvis prompted.

"Sir, energy is low, less than ten percent remaining. I do not recommend full speed..."

"No, put all energy into thrust!"

...

Chapter 9: Two People Testing Each Other

Third District

This area had been cleared by Stark earlier, so there weren't many Chitauri.

Luo Di had originally planned to try flying.

But now, it seemed his undeveloped mental power, without systematic training, wasn't enough to support him flying and achieving such a cool mode of movement.

Luo Di had to settle for the next best thing and plagiarize Peter Parker's idea.
