NEW ON CAMPUS

šŸ’“CLARA'S POVšŸ’“

Almost all the students were already seated when I walked in, my purple bag strapped neatly on my shoulder, black sneakers tapping softly against the floor. My hair fell gently over my shoulders, and I could feel eyes on me as I scanned the room. Being overly neat always drew attention, though I tried not to notice.

I slipped into an empty seat, pulled out my phone, and pretended to be busy. A few seconds later, the girl beside me leaned in with a smile.

"Hi, I'm Janet," she said warmly.

Her friendliness caught me off guard, but I smiled back. "Clara."

Just like that, she flowed into conversation, and I felt myself loosening up.

Not long after, the classroom door opened again. A wave of murmurs swept through the room, followed by soft giggles and whispers I couldn't quite catch. Janet tap me excitedly.

"Clara, look at him," she whispered.

Curiosity made me glance up for only a second before I dropped my gaze back to my phone. Whoever he was, the rest of the class clearly found him interesting. I didn't.

Before I could say more, the lecturer walked in.

"Good morning. Welcome to Introduction to Business. I am Dr. Hassan. Let's begin with introductions…"

Introductions? Already? My stomach tightened.

By the time I finally made it into class, I knew I was late . Still, I kept my steps steady, head high. Whispers rose immediately, a ripple of excitement moving through the room. Some boys gave me quick nods of approval, while a few girls openly stared.

I was used to it, but it still felt strange on my first day.

As I scanned the rows, I noticed one girl who wasn't staring at me like the others. She was busy pressing her phone, hardly paying attention. The girl beside her tried to get her to look up. For a brief moment, she lifted her eyes toward me, expression blank, almost uninterested before turning back to her screen.

That caught me off guard. Most people held their gaze a little longer. She didn't.

I shook it off and found a seat at the back. Pulling out my notebook, I leaned forward, ready for the class.

A tall man in glasses soon walked in, his voice carrying easily.

"Good morning. This is Introduction to Business. I'm Dr. Hassan, your lecturer. Let's begin with introductions. One by one."

Introductions. On the first day. Interesting.
