Chapter 6 - Undeniable Love

Sofia laid still in her hospital bed, her mind replaying every moment of the chaos that had happened at the coffee store.

The dull throbbing in her head reminded her of Pamela's arrogance, but what hurt more was the fear she had seen on Charles face. He had been helpless, unable to see what was happening, unable to control it. Yet, he had stayed by her side, refusing to let go or leave even for a moment.

She turned slightly, finding him still there, his strong fingers entwined with hers. His suit was slightly wrinkled, his face etched with exhaustion. Despite his blindness, he sensed her gaze on him. "You're awake," he murmured, his voice laced with relief.

Sofia offered a weak smile. "I never really slept."His fingers tightened around hers. "I was so scared, Sofia. When I heard you fall, when I felt your hand slip away from mine, I couldn't do

anything." His voice cracked slightly, and she could hear the frustration behind his words. She squeezed his hand, bringing

him closer. "You were there. That's all I needed."

Charles exhaled shakily. "You're everything to me, Sofia. I can't lose you."

Her heart swelled with emotion. "You won't," she whispered, pressing his hand to her lips. "We'll get through this. Together."

A knock at the door interrupted their moment. The doctor walked in, clipboard in hand. "Miss Scott, you're recovering well, and the baby is safe. But you'll need to rest for a few days."

Charles released a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. "Thank you, Doctor."The doctor nodded. "However, there is another issue. The hospital bills..."Before he could finish, Charles straightened. "I'll cover everything. Money isn't an issue."

The doctor looked surprised but didn't question it. Sofia, however, stared at him. "Charles, you don't have to"

He turned to her, cutting her off. "Sofia, please. Let me

take care of you."

Tears welled in her eyes, and she nodded. She wasn't used to being taken care of, but with Charles, it felt special and romantic. It felt right.

The next morning, Sofia woke up to the sound of hushed voices outside her hospital room. She blinked against the sunlight shining in through the curtains, stretching slightly. Her body still ached, but the warmness of Charles's hand on hers was a comforting presence.

She turned her head and found him speaking in a mild voice to someone on the phone. "Yes, ensure that Pamela Andrew is restricted from entering this hospital. I don't want her anywhere near Sofia."

His tone was firm, filled with authority. Despite his blindness, there was no mistaking the power he had.

Sofia's heart swelled with love. This man, the blind CEO, was more than just a lover. He was her protector.

Charles ended the call and turned towards her as if he could sense she was awake. "Good morning, my angel."

She smiled weakly. "Good morning."

"I have some news." He hesitated. "The media frenzy outside has gotten worse."Her stomach tightened. "Worse?"

He nodded. "Pamela is feeding them lies. She's claiming that you seduced me for my money, that you got pregnant to trap me."

Sofia inhaled sharply.

"She's not giving up."

Charles's jaw tightened. "She won't win. We'll face this till the end."

There was a sudden knock at the door, and a nurse peeked inside. "Mr. Charles, Miss Scott, the media is demanding a statement."

Sofia took a deep breath, her heart beating. "Then let's give them one."

The hospital entrance was swarming with journalists. Cameras flashed, reporters shouted questions, and security struggled to maintain order. Charles held Sofia's hand tightly as they stepped forward.

"Mr. Charles, do you confirm that Miss Scott is pregnant with your child?"

"Miss Scott, are you in a relationship with Mr. Charles for his wealth?"

Charles's grip on her hand tightened, and Sofia could feel the anger looming beneath his calm exterior. She stepped forward, her voice strong. "Yes, I am pregnant with Charles's child. And no, I am not with him for his money. I loved him before I knew who he was. And I love him still."

A murmur spread through the crowd.

Charles lifted his chin. "Pamela Andrew has tried to tear us apart. But love is not built on wealth or power. It is built on trust, on connection. I may be blind, but I see Sofia more clearly than anyone ever will."

The reporters fell silent for a moment. And then, chaos erupted again.

"How do you respond to Pamela Andrew's allegations?"

"Do you plan to take legal action against her?"

Before Charles could respond, a familiar voice cut through the crowd. "How touching."

Sofia stiffened, her blood running cold. Pamela.

She stepped forward, a wicked smile on her lips. "Do you really think a statement will clear your name,

Sofia?"

Sofia clenched her fists. "We don't need to clear anything. The truth is on our side."

Pamela scoffed. "Oh, you sweet,

naive girl. You have no idea what's coming next."

Charles's jaw tightened. "Pamela, you've done enough damage."

She smirked.

"Oh, Charles, this is only the beginning."

And with that, she turned on her heel and disappeared into the crowd.

Sofia's heart pounded in fear. What was she planning now?

Charles sensed her tension and pulled her closer. "No matter what happens, we'll face it together."

Sofia nodded, pressing her forehead against his chest. "Together."

The days that followed were filled with uncertainty. The media storm continued, but Charles ensured Sofia was protected. He moved her into his penthouse, surrounding her with security.

But Pamela wasn't done. A week later, a scandalous article surfaced, claiming that Charles's child might not be his. The headlines screamed betrayal. Sofia felt her world was shattered.

She stared at the newspaper in disbelief. "How could she stoop this low?"

Charles took the paper from her, what's the news this time?. "She's desperate."

Tears filled

Sofia's eyes. "People will believe this."

Charles cupped her face, his touch gentle. "Do you?"

She looked into is sightless eyes and shook her head. "Never."

His lips curved slightly. "Then nothing else matters."

Sofia threw her arms around him, burying her face in his chest. "I just want this nightmare to end."

He held her tightly. "It will. And when it does, we'll be stronger than ever."

As she clung to him, Sofia knew one thing for certain. Their love would be tested, but it would never break. Because they had each other. And that was enough.
