Chapter 82 - The Buried Titan

Day 217, Frost Year — Thryndol, Northern Continent

The ground beneath Ashura trembled with a low, unnatural rumble. Snow swirled violently as the earth cracked open with a deafening roar, splitting the frozen valley like paper. Ashura's black halo flickered, the violet sparks from Transcendent Wrath dancing along his arms.

"Finally… something interesting," he murmured, smirking as his boots landed firmly on the ice, surveying the widening chasm.

The fissure expanded, revealing a cavern of colossal proportions. Ice-coated chains snaked across the walls and floor, glowing faintly with a divine seal. And at the center, sprawled across a chamber the size of a city block, lay the remains of a being that could only be described as a demi-god.

Its body, frozen and scarred by ages past, still radiated immense energy, faintly pulsing beneath the frost. Golden armor, chipped and cracked, covered what remained of its chest. Its face, partially obscured by a shattered helmet, bore the mark of a lost civilization—a titan whose very existence had once challenged the heavens.

Ashura stepped closer, black and violet lightning flaring with each movement, illuminating the cavern.

"A demi-god… chained, forgotten, buried in ice… not a bad welcome."

He knelt to inspect the chains. Each link was massive, adorned with symbols that screamed divine suppression, meant to hold a being capable of shaking continents.

Name of the Demi-God: Thrynos, the Frostbound Sentinel

Ashura's eyes narrowed as he traced the markings. Thrynos had been sealed long ago, likely by the combined efforts of gods and mortals who feared its power. Yet now, as the ground opened, the chains shivered faintly, responding to the surge of energy that Ashura radiated.

Ashura could feel it: raw, ancient power, pulsating through Thrynos even in deathlike slumber. The energy resonated with the remnants of the Frost Horn civilization he had just entered. He crouched, his hand brushing against the chain. Sparks of black and amethyst lightning danced across the links.

"This… this isn't just a monster," he whispered. "This is something else entirely."

He circled the giant, observing every detail. From the shattered sword, still massive despite the decay, to the faint aura that could rival calamity-level dungeons, Thrynos was not to be underestimated.

Ashura tilted his head, his grin widening.

"Looks like I've found my next real test… and it's not going to be easy."

The violet and black energy of Ashura's Transcendent Wrath began to react violently, almost drawn toward the chains and the body itself. He could feel the seal resisting, whispering warnings that he alone could hear.

"Do not wake what was chained… do not disturb the Frostbound Sentinel…"

Ashura chuckled softly, unfazed.

"Warnings? I've heard plenty… none have survived, and neither will this stop me."

He took a step closer, boots crunching on the ice, hands crackling with energy, surveying the massive cavern. Shadows stretched along the walls, amplifying the ominous presence of Thrynos, yet Ashura felt a strange resonance—a connection he couldn't yet name.

The system pinged suddenly, its interface new and customized after his last authority upgrade:

[Quest Detected: Investigate and Subdue the Frostbound Sentinel — Optional Challenge]

[Threat Level: Beyond Catastrophic]

[Reward: Class Passive Evolution + Authority Gift from the Nameless God]

Ashura smirked, stepping fully into the chamber.

"Beyond Catastrophic… I've had worse, but I like your style."

A sudden gust of wind swept the cavern, rattling the chains, as if Thrynos itself were sensing his presence. For the first time, Ashura felt a flicker of uncertainty—not fear, but the anticipation of a true challenge that could push even him to the edge.

Lightning flickered across his blade and halo, illuminating the massive, frozen form of Thrynos in eerie detail.

"Alright, Frostbound Sentinel… let's see if you're worthy of waking."

The cavern seemed to hold its breath, ice cracking faintly under the pressure of immense latent power, as Ashura prepared for what could be the first truly world-shaking fight of this northern expedition.
