Chapter 4 - Coincidence

A strange little ball mixed with blood and dark liquid was forced into Caesar's mouth by the resurrected Sirius.

Sticky, smelly, cold, and slippery, the ball immediately transformed into a stream of liquid after entering its mouth, wriggling rapidly like a living thing, and burrowed into the depths of the stomach through the mouth.

"Hmm!"

Caesar widened his eyes.

He didn't know where he got the strength from, but he pushed the motionless Sirius away, then knelt on the ground and began to dig his throat with his fingers.

No matter what this old guy fed me, it definitely wasn't anything good!

"Ahem! Come out! Ahem!"

But no matter how hard Caesar dug his throat, he couldn't get rid of the icy feeling. Instead, it exploded in his stomach. It broke through the confines of the stomach wall and spread to his limbs and bones, eroding them all the way to the end of his body, until every cell was filled with its influence.

Caesar's hands and feet began to twitch uncontrollably, and the world before him gradually fell into darkness. Countless whispers echoed around him, as if a dense mass of malicious eyes had opened in the darkness, spying on his flesh and blood.

And in the deepest and farthest distance of the darkness, there was a being looking at Caesar.

It's a giant, the upside-down giant!

A depraved and crazy muttering sound followed, and the other peeping eyes seemed to be frightened and immediately shrank back, leaving only him and the giant staring at each other in the endless darkness.

"ah!"

The veins on Caesar's forehead suddenly bulged. Pain, and something beyond the pain, something that didn't belong to him, flooded his brain. What did he feel? What did he know?

"I don't want to know, I don't want to know!"

He screamed, but those things still continued to pour into his mind, distorting his cognition and pulling him deeper and farther into the darkness.

Depravity, darkness?

No, it is that being, He is right, but He is crazy!

Hanging upside down?

No, the world is upside down!

The mumbling sound kept echoing, and Caesar felt his consciousness dissolving, as if it was about to completely melt into the darkness and become a part of the giant.

At this moment, he heard the illusory sound of the tide again.

Then, an ethereal, wet sensation spread from the soles of his feet, quickly spreading throughout his body. It was as if an ocean had suddenly appeared from the invisible darkness, its surging waves crashing against him.

Caesar's body was quickly submerged. He didn't feel the pain of suffocation; instead, the seawater blocked out the giant's sight and the lingering whispers. He felt safe, and the spreading "influence" within his body subsided, obediently merging into every cell of his body...

The darkness dissipated, and Caesar found his consciousness floating above the room. His body lay on the floor, and Cecilia was shaking him anxiously and shouting something beside him.

"Caesar! Caesar!"

Caesar heard his sister calling his name, and his consciousness suddenly sank and returned to his body.

"Hmm!"

He woke up suddenly.

"Caesar, you finally woke up, are you okay?"

Cecilia asked worriedly.

"I'm fine."

Caesar sat up, shook his head, and patted his sister's shoulder to calm her down.

Looking around, I saw two dumbfounded policemen standing behind my sister. They looked at the tattered and tattered Sirius with a look of astonishment as if they had seen a ghost.

"You...you stay here and are not allowed to leave!"

The older sheriff nervously gave orders, arranged for his subordinates, and asked a young policeman with a bitter face to stay behind, while he left in a panic.

Caesar took a deep breath and stood up with the help of his sister.

His head still ached, as if it were being held tightly by a strong hand. His ears rang incessantly, punctuated by whispers. The things he saw were strange, vibrant yet overlapping. He saw the young policeman's face as pale as a corpse, his uniform as black as coal. He saw his sister's eyes, as blue as a lake, shimmering with a captivating luster.

He also saw that Sirius's body was emitting an ominous black aura, and each tumor had a bloody mouth growing out of it, praying wantonly.

Oh shit!

Caesar was so frightened that his body trembled, but when he looked up, he found that his sister and the young policeman had no reaction to the abnormality of the corpse, so he knew that there was something wrong with him.

What's wrong with me?

Could it be because of what I just ate?

Caesar closed his eyes, shook his head, and tried to calm down. When he opened his eyes again, he saw things that were finally quite normal, but there were still subtle sounds and strange, distorted lines that kept appearing in the dark corners of the room. He could only ignore them for the time being.

Cecilia looked at Caesar uneasily. After all, the room was not like this before she left.

What happened?

She asked with her eyes.

Caesar raised his chin and pointed at the policeman, meaning that he would talk about it later and not let that guy hear it.

Cecilia immediately understood and nodded slightly.

The three people in the room remained silent in the strange atmosphere. The young policeman looked at the corpse from time to time, and then at the brother and sister, looking uneasy. The two siblings kept exchanging glances, looking like they were in perfect harmony.

By the way, where is the letter?

At this moment, Caesar suddenly thought of the letter from Sirius. It was because of reading the letter that he was careless and was attacked. However, he scanned the ground and didn't see the papers. It was not until his eyes fell on the altar that he found the ashes of the overturned cauldron were smoking, and there was a charred corner of the letter inside.

When I was hit, I floated into the ashes.

Caesar thought, what a coincidence.

Just then, the sound of a carriage stopping outside the house was heard, and soon, the sound of dense footsteps came up. The old sheriff came in with three new faces. They were also policemen, looking younger, but with more stars on their epaulettes than the two.

After bringing the people here, the old sheriff took his men away and handed the scene over to these three people.

The leader of the three policemen was a man in his thirties with deep silver-gray eyes. After scanning the room, his gaze fell on Caesar's face.

"Mr. Caesar Cardini and Ms. Cecilia Cardini, right?"

He asked gently.

"That's right."

Caesar and his sister looked at each other, then spoke to each other.

"Okay, then Mr. Caesar and Ms. Cecilia, please tell me what happened here."

The gray-eyed police officer said.

So Caesar began to tell the story of the brother and sister, from his own illness and the accidental death of his parents to being invited home by Sirius, and then being tied up and sacrificed. He found the right opportunity to subdue Sirius, but because the latter began to mutate, he had to shoot him to death in order to protect himself.

He concealed the details of his heart being repaired after his resurrection, the contents of the letter, and the fact that he was forced to eat the black pellet. He simply said that he was knocked unconscious and attacked Sirius after waking up.

The gray-eyed officer listened quietly to his story, without expressing any opinion. His two men began their own investigation. One with green eyes examined the body, then circled the altar covered in blood and flesh, tutting. The other with brown eyes pulled a topaz pendant from his sleeve, muttering something to himself as he closed his eyes.

After a moment, he opened his eyes and looked at the pendant, then walked over to the gray-eyed officer and whispered something.

Caesar noticed that the gray-eyed police officer's eyes immediately became deeper.

"Mr. Caesar, let's find a room and have a good chat."

He said to Caesar.
