Outside the Great Spirit Arena.
"Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan…" Dugu Bo's eyes turned cold as he looked at several figures hidden in the shadows.
He had long since noticed the Soul Master squad led by a Soul Saint. After some investigation, he confirmed they were indeed people from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan.
However, he hadn't chosen to act. Even after overhearing their conversation and confirming that one of their goals was to find a chance to kidnap Yang Yunhai when he was alone.
The reason was simple. First, those sent weren't direct descendants. Even if they were caught red-handed, or even caught trying to abduct Yang Yunhai, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan could simply call it a personal action, unrelated to the clan. With their relatives as hostages, these men would never confess, no matter the torture. As for following along, they could just claim it was to protect Yu Tianheng.
Second, now was not the time to tear faces with the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Though he was a Titled Douluo, he was only one man.
If he were utterly alone, with no ties or worries, he wouldn't mind spreading poison right at the clan's main estate.
But he wasn't. He still had his granddaughter, as well as his benefactor and future grandson-in-law to protect. If things escalated too far, the consequences would be hard to control.
After all, they were one of the three upper sects—powerful and wealthy.
So, unless absolutely necessary, he did not wish for matters to escalate to that point.
'When my granddaughter and grandson-in-law grow strong enough, then I'll settle accounts with you properly.' He clicked his tongue and turned away.
Before long, he watched Yang Yunhai and the others return to their hotel.
That night, while Zhu Zhuqing immersed herself in cultivation, Yang Yunhai asked Yiner to stay in the room. Then he quietly slipped out, making his way to the hotel rooftop.
Knock, knock. He rapped lightly on one of the doors.
Whenever they arrived in a new city, Dugu Bo would come at night to tell him his room, so they could meet if needed.
The door creaked open, and Yang Yunhai slipped inside.
"Xiao Hai, you came to see Grandpa? Something wrong?" Dugu Bo asked as he shut the door.
"Yes." Yang Yunhai nodded slightly. "Our team's next stop is Suotuo City. There's someone there you should pay attention to."
"Oh? Who?" Dugu Bo frowned.
"Tang Hao," Yang Yunhai said bluntly.
Dugu Bo froze, startled. "The Clear Sky Douluo, Tang Hao? Xiao Hai, how do you know his whereabouts?"
"Because his son Tang San is there," Yang Yunhai replied. "Back when I studied at Nuoding City's primary academy as a work-study student, Tang San was my roommate. We lived together for six years, so of course I heard about his father. He said his name was Tang Hao, a blacksmith in Holy Spirit Village outside Nuoding. At the time, I'd never heard of the Clear Sky Douluo, so I never suspected anything."
"It wasn't until I reached Heaven Dou City that I heard of the name Clear Sky Douluo. A man named Tang Hao, a blacksmith, hammer in hand… it was hard not to connect the dots."
"Indeed… the name matches, the craft matches. Hard not to think of it." Dugu Bo stroked his chin.
"But that's not the key reason I connected them," Yang Yunhai went on. "The real reason was his son Tang San. From what I know, he awakened Blue Silver Grass with innate full soul power."
"Blue Silver Grass, innate full soul power?" Dugu Bo's brows rose in surprise.
"And also," Yang Yunhai added, "our academy had another man, Yu Xiaogang. Grandpa Dugu, I'm sure you know that name."
"Theory Master Yu Xiaogang. Yu Yuanzhen's disgrace of a son, the laughingstock of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Of course I know him," Dugu Bo said blandly. "I heard he hasn't returned for twenty years. Didn't expect he'd end up in Nuoding."
"He took Tang San as his disciple. He stayed at the academy for years without ever teaching or taking students, then suddenly took Tang San. Honestly, I suspect he saw something. Blue Silver Grass is a recognized trash Martial Soul. To awaken it with innate full soul power… I've never heard of such a thing."
"Hm?" Dugu Bo's brow furrowed. Then, as if a thought struck him, his pupils contracted sharply. "Twin Martial Souls. His other Martial Soul must be the Clear Sky Hammer!"
"The condition for twin Martial Souls, as I know, is that the parents' Martial Souls must be of equal quality. If Tang San's Blue Silver Grass isn't ordinary, but a top-tier Martial Soul equal to the Clear Sky Hammer… then the condition is satisfied."
"In that case, innate full soul power is perfectly explained. And that Tang Hao's identity as a blacksmith… becomes self-evident."
"Then who was Tang San's mother?" Dugu Bo muttered. "Unless she was like me, cultivating the Jade Phosphorus Serpent to Titled Douluo and evolving it into the Jade Phosphorus Serpent Emperor. Only then could an ordinary Martial Soul transform into something of such high quality to pass on. But I've never heard of such a figure on the continent!"
'Could it be… she wasn't even human?' Dugu Bo thought inwardly, though he only showed a contemplative look on his face.
"I heard the former Pope Qian Xunji once led a group to hunt Tang Hao, but ended up gravely wounded by him instead. That was when Tang Hao's name truly spread."
"Why would Qian Xunji hunt Tang Hao?"
"Grandpa Dugu, what if… Tang San's mother wasn't human?"
"???" Dugu Bo's eyes widened in shock. "Xiao Hai, you mean…?!"
"This is just a guess I pieced together from what I know," Yang Yunhai explained. "I've seen Tang San's Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul, seen him use soul skills in battle. Honestly, it doesn't look mutated. If his mother wasn't a powerful Soul Master or some special being, I can't explain how he awakened innate full soul power."
"Also, in six years, Tang San never once mentioned his mother. That alone is strange. Add to it his father being Tang Hao, and I can't help but connect the threads."
"No need to doubt, Xiao Hai. I think your guess is very likely true," Dugu Bo said gravely. "At that time, Qian Xunji was a rank 95 Super Douluo, and he had a team with him. How could Tang Hao break through, and even injure him, unless…"
"Unless his ninth soul ring was 100,000 years."
"And where did it come from? You understand."
His brows rose, his gaze meaningful.
At that time, Tang Xiao had already returned to the sect. Tang Hao, only a Soul Douluo, couldn't possibly have hunted a 100,000-year beast alone. But the being by his side… very likely could have.
"Perhaps, when things got desperate, she sacrificed herself." Yang Yunhai spoke what he imagined.
"Could it really be such a coincidence? Exactly at rank 90?" Dugu Bo frowned. He only knew Tang Hao broke through to Titled Douluo at age 44, hailed as the youngest ever. But the exact timing? He didn't know.
How was it discovered back then? Why had he been able to hide with his son for more than ten years without being found? So many mysteries remained.
"Forget it. Doesn't concern us anyway." Yang Yunhai shrugged. "In any case, Grandpa Dugu, if Tang San's father truly is him, then once we reach Suotuo City, you should stay alert."
"His strength is not to be underestimated."
"Before graduating from Nuoding, I once heard Tang San say Yu Xiaogang wanted him to join an academy in Barak Kingdom's Suotuo City called Shrek Academy. Back then, I thought I might go register as well. After all, with Tang San's talent, if Yu Xiaogang specifically wanted him there, it had to be a good place."
"But when I asked around before the new year, I gave up right away."
"That bad?" Dugu Bo asked curiously.
"It wasn't just bad—it was laughable." Yang Yunhai shook his head and repeated what he had once told Zhu Zhuqing.
"What kind of garbage academy is that? It's outright ruining students!" Dugu Bo cursed outright.
Then his brow arched as he turned to Yang Yunhai. "No wonder Zhuqing followed you to Heaven Dou City. With that kind of comparison, of course she chose you."
"…" Yang Yunhai kept his face calm.
"Maybe it was just fate," he said, before quickly steering back. "If Tang San's mother really has passed, then Tang San is all Tang Hao has left. I suspect Tang Hao is already in Suotuo City too. Given his grudge with Spirit Hall, he won't show himself openly, but he'll surely watch from the shadows, protecting his son."
"And if he sees you there, Grandpa Dugu, he'll definitely be wary. Your strength alone is a threat. And Tang San is his only son. If he doesn't become vigilant, that would be strange."
"That makes sense," Dugu Bo nodded. "Don't worry. Once we get to Suotuo City, I'll keep my eyes open."
"Good." Yang Yunhai finally smiled. "In that case, Grandpa Dugu, I'll head back."
"Alright." Dugu Bo smiled faintly, watching him leave. When Yang Yunhai vanished from sight, his face darkened.
"Tang Hao… I really didn't expect it."
"And Xiao Hai's growth is terrifying. After learning Yu Tianheng leaked information and that he offended the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, he's clearly grown cautious, thinking deeper. At this age, to have such foresight—it's frightening. Just from Tang San's Martial Soul and innate power, plus hearing of Tang Hao, he could link it all back to that event."
"Fortunately, he'll be my grandson-in-law in the future."
"As expected, one must strike early." With that thought, he smiled faintly, returned to his bed, and began cultivating, accelerating the absorption of medicinal power in his body.
The poison had been purged a month ago, his strength breaking through to rank 92. Even his wrinkles had lessened, his hair restored to its natural color. After consuming the Nine Treasure Purple Zoysia, his cultivation surged again, though still shy of rank 93.
Still, his body constitution had greatly improved. With the medicinal power assisting, his cultivation speed had clearly increased.
Now, all he wanted was to finish absorbing the Nine Treasure Purple Zoysia, then take the Land Dragon Golden Melon.
He was confident that once both were digested, his strength would soar.
Then he could find time to face Chrysanthemum Douluo and reclaim his pride. With two treasures consumed, he had every reason to be confident.
The night passed quietly.
The next morning, he followed the Heaven Dou team's carriages out of Snowfall City, heading straight for Barak Kingdom.
