Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Tang San, I Don’t Think I Offended You?

"Thank you, thank you, Teacher." The villager didn't suspect anything, quickly taking back the certificate with a bow of gratitude.

When he looked up again, Yu Xiaogang was already walking away with Tang San.

'So this so-called Grandmaster really does have a strange temper.' He muttered inwardly, then hurriedly handed the bedding to Yang Yunhai with a smile.

"Xiao Hai, hurry and catch up with the teacher. Study well at the academy, and strive to become a true soul master as soon as possible."

'The difference in treatment really is huge.' Yang Yunhai thought as he watched Yu Xiaogang hold Tang San's hand with one hand while tucking the other certificate behind his back. The man didn't even think to pause and wait for him.

Keeping a calm expression, Yang Yunhai nodded obediently. "Mm, I'll work hard."

He tucked the certificate into his chest, hugged his bedding, bowed slightly, and said, "Uncle, I'll head in now."

"Go on." The villager smiled and watched him run off before turning to leave.

Just as Yang Yunhai was about to catch up, Yu Xiaogang turned to Tang San.

"The Spirit Hall certificate says your name is Tang San, right? Tang San, you must understand, there's a world of difference between 'Grandmaster' and 'Teacher.' Be careful not to confuse them."

"Unless…" His voice paused, his gaze burning into Tang San.

"Unless you truly wish for me to be your teacher."

"You want to teach me to cultivate my Martial Soul?" Tang San asked.

Yu Xiaogang stopped, faced him, and smiled. "Well, are you willing?"

Tang San said nothing, only looked up quietly at him.

Footsteps approached quickly.

Yu Xiaogang frowned when he saw Yang Yunhai hurrying up with his bedding. His displeasure flashed for a moment, but he quickly smoothed it over, turned back to Tang San, and rubbed his hair with a smile.

"Tang San, you truly are a clever child. Let's go."

He gave Tang San a meaningful look, then led him forward without sparing Yang Yunhai a glance.

Tang San, however, looked back at Yang Yunhai, his expression thoughtful.

'This Grandmaster really might know his stuff.'

In his previous life in the Tang Sect, many powerful secret techniques were reserved only for core disciples. To protect these supreme arts, like the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record, the sect imposed strict divisions—outer, inner, core, and true transmission. Only those truly loyal and qualified were taught, while those who betrayed after learning the secrets were considered unforgivable threats.

If Yu Xiaogang truly possessed unique insights into soul masters and wanted to guard his knowledge carefully, that was understandable.

Thinking this, Tang San began to look forward to speaking with him again. Yet, a trace of displeasure also rose in his heart. Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced once more at Yang Yunhai.

'This child really came at the wrong time. He's a hindrance.'

"???" Seeing Tang San glance at him with a frown, Yang Yunhai felt his heart tighten.

'Seek death—that was Tang Buddha's famous line. Tang San, I don't think I offended you, right? If it weren't for the fact that I can't beat you now, I'd have snapped back with a "What are you staring at!?" Still, this kid's emotional control is terrible. If you're going to glare, don't make it so obvious. Even a fool can see you're unhappy with me.'

Keeping a straight face, he looked away, raising his eyes to the tall building ahead.

"That's so tall, Grandmaster. What's that place?" he asked.

"That is the administration office, where new students register," Yu Xiaogang replied calmly. "If you're in a hurry, you can go there first. There are teachers inside who handle registration. Just ask someone."

"Mm, thank you, Grandmaster." Yang Yunhai nodded quickly, muttering to himself, "After I register, I'll need to settle into my dorm, figure out where classes and meals are, and buy supplies. I've still got a lot to do today."

He bowed respectfully. "Then I'll be on my way. Goodbye, Grandmaster!"

With that, he sprinted off.

'What an impatient boy,' Tang San thought.

Yu Xiaogang only shook his head, then turned back to Tang San. "Aren't you in a hurry too?"

Tang San didn't answer, only stopped and looked up at him.

"Good, Tang San." Yu Xiaogang's eyes glimmered. "You have extraordinary talent and intelligence. It seems I must persist as well. After all, you are the third twin Martial Soul to appear in the past hundred years."

Tang San's face changed at once. His left wrist rose slightly.

"You're wondering how I know you're a twin Martial Soul?" Yu Xiaogang smiled, shaking the certificate in his hand.

"It's because of this." He began explaining his research.

Not far away, Yang Yunhai glanced back just in time to see Tang San kneel and kowtow.

'So that's it. The two of them think I'm in the way. Yu Xiaogang wants a disciple, and I interfere—fine, I get that. But Tang San? He just wants to hear Yu Xiaogang's theories, and he still thinks I'm in the way? That's why he looked at me like that?'

The thought stung.

Unable to describe his mood, Yang Yunhai could only spit out a phrase from his past life: "MMP!"

He had to admit—Yu Xiaogang really was skilled at stringing people along.

Turning back, he hurried toward the administration office.

Before long, he registered smoothly and was issued a school uniform.

Stepping out, he saw Yu Xiaogang leading Tang San inside. He greeted politely, "Hello, Grandmaster."

Yu Xiaogang didn't answer, only gave a faint nod, pulling Tang San along.

Tang San didn't even glance at him—whether because of their earlier encounter or because Yang Yunhai was too dark-skinned, he didn't know.

"..." Yang Yunhai sighed inwardly and left.

Soon, he arrived at Dorm Seven.

Inside, seven or eight boys aged eight to twelve turned their heads as he entered.

Yang Yunhai greeted them naturally. "Hello everyone, I'm Yang Yunhai, a work-study student from Lone Grass Village. You can call me Xiao Hai."

"My Martial Soul is Blue Silver Grass, with only 0.5 innate soul power. Please take care of me."

Though he had only run a small repair shop in his past life, he understood how to treat people.

Hearing "Blue Silver Grass" made them want to sneer, but learning his soul power was only 0.5 rank, combined with his polite tone, their irritation faded.

'This kid is sensible.'

With such low talent, no one saw him as a threat.

The tallest boy stepped forward boldly. "I'm Wang Sheng. My Martial Soul is the Battle Tiger. I'll be a Battle Soul Master in the future. I'm also the boss here."

"Since you're called Xiao Hai, don't worry. You're part of Dorm Seven now. I'll look after you."

"Thank you, Brother Wang." Yang Yunhai nodded quickly, then looked him up and down. "Brother Wang, you're so strong. The tiger is a mighty beast, and your Martial Soul is amazing. I believe you'll become a powerful Battle Soul Master."

Wang Sheng scratched his head with a shy grin. "Heh, I'll take your words as a blessing."

Then, seeing the bedding in Yang Yunhai's arms and the uniform stacked on top, he reached out warmly. "Brother Xiao Hai, you must be tired carrying this all the way. Let me help you. Pick whichever bed you like, I'll help you move it."

"Thank you, Brother Wang." Yang Yunhai let go gratefully.

Soon, with his new roommates' help, his bed was set up.

Just then, crisp footsteps sounded from the open doorway.
