Chapter 1 - A life interrupted

**chapter 1**

Title: **a life interrupted**

On a beautiful morning, Ethan woke up in his apartment, checked the time, and saw it was 7 am. He had to be at work by 9 am, so he got out of bed and started getting ready. After making and eating breakfast, his expression betrayed a sense of boredom with his daily routine and life. His appearance was average – neither ugly nor handsome – with dark eyes and pale skin

By 8 am, Ethan was behind the wheel, driving to work with the same apathetic expression. As he gazed at the sunrise, he let out a sigh, wondering what he'd accomplished in life. 'I'm 28, almost 30, and still have nothing to show for it,' he thought. Forty minutes later, he arrived at work at 8:40 am.

As Ethan walked into the building, he exchanged greetings with colleagues and headed to his office. No sooner had he sat down than the CEO appeared, complaining about his recent performance. Ethan's mind wandered, and he tuned out, pondering the idea of quitting his dead-end job to start his own business and live life to the fullest. However, he quickly dismissed the thought as fanciful and settled back into reality. He opened his computer and began tackling paperwork. Hours flew by unnoticed, and before he knew it, it was 4:57 PM. Considering his empty home life, Ethan thought about working an extra hour. At 5:57 PM, he gathered his things, grabbed his car keys, and prepared to leave

He went to the parking lot, where he had parked his car, got in and yelled while crying for an entire minute, before he started his car and began to drive back home with teary eyes, he shouted "what have i been doing with my life!!!!" and he started to drive slightly faster with teary eyes he could barely see the road and other cars 'I have wasted my life,i should've just followed my childhood dreams.. What is the point of living anymore' thoughts like this ran over his head as he accelerated his car within a blink of an eye he got ran over by a large truck, crashing his car and giving him a slow painful death, Ethan felt great pain yet laughed internally think 'so this is how it ends' he was rushed to the hospital, with doctors and surgeons trying to save him as his organs were crushed, but the more he thinks about the hospital bills he would be forced to pay, the more he loses the will to live, and just silently close his eyes given in to the light within a minute Ethan had died

As Ethan opened his eyes, he was met with an intense, pure white light that seemed to envelop everything. Disoriented, he wondered if he was still in the hospital, perhaps stuck in a dream or coma. But as he struggled to his feet, the light didn't dissipate. Instead, a figure took shape before him. A woman, clad in flowing robes reminiscent of ancient Greece, stood tall and majestic. Her presence radiated an otherworldly aura, and Ethan knew instinctively that she was a goddess.

"You've died at the age of 28," she declared, her voice like music and thunder combined. "You shall now be turned into nothingness. Your consciousness will be erased, and you will be nonexistent."

The goddess's words hung in the air, heavy with finality. Ethan felt a sense of detachment, as if observing his own demise from afar

As the goddess's words hung in the air, Ethan's panic set in. 'But I haven't done or achieved anything with my life...' he pleaded, desperation creeping into his voice. 'Please, give me a second chance. I promise you that I won't waste it.'

The goddess's expression remained neutral, yet a hint of sorrow flickered in her eyes. Her voice, however, was firm. 'You wasted your life, and that is not my fault. I gave you free will; you could have decided to spend your life however you liked.'

Her words cut deep, and Ethan felt a surge of regret. He knew he had made choices, or rather, hadn't made choices, that had led him to this point. The goddess's tone wasn't accusatory, but rather a statement of fact, leaving Ethan to confront the reality of his own decisions

Ethan dropped to his knees, his body shaking with sobs as he begged the goddess for mercy. Tears streamed down his face, and mucus dripped from his nose, but he didn't care. 'Please,' he implored, his voice cracking with desperation. 'I promise you, I won't waste my second life. I'll use every moment wisely, I'll make every decision based on my own will. And if I fail... if I die, then you can erase me from existence as you see fit. Just give me a second life, that's all I ask of you.'

The goddess gazed at Ethan, her expression unreadable, but her eyes seemed to bore into his very soul. She saw the desperation, the regret, and the determination etched on his face. Ethan's words hung in the air, a plea for redemption, a promise to make the most of a second chance.
