Chapter 149 - 《DXD: Transfer Student》Chapter 149: How’s Anyone Supposed to Survive Marriage Like This?

Nino found herself unable to meet Draconis's eyes. After catching him in that state, a strange excitement simmered in her chest—a feeling she was almost embarrassed to admit.

She'd always liked him, truth be told. Draconis was mysterious and strong, but never distant or arrogant. It was hard to imagine a devil from legends being this patient, this real—he tutored them with genuine care, took their worries seriously. In Nino's mind, a devil should be perched atop the supernatural food chain, wielding powers beyond human reach. But Draconis acted more like a regular guy than some untouchable overlord.

And somehow, that made him even cooler.

A superpowered hero, blending into human society, saving the city on a whim—who wouldn't be obsessed with that? At this point, Nino was basically a fangirl in awe of her own superhero.

Meanwhile, Draconis felt Miku trembling in his arms—clearly flustered by the situation, and even more so with Nino barging in. She was wound so tight, he could practically hear her heartbeat.

Downstairs, Ichika's voice echoed up the stairwell. "Nino! Have you seen Miku? She's up early today…"

"Miku? Haven't spotted her. Maybe she already went down for breakfast." Nino called back, then waved at Draconis. "I'm heading downstairs. Hurry up and get ready!"

With that, she slipped out and closed the door behind her.

Draconis listened to her footsteps fade, then finally pulled back the covers. Miku was curled up against him, shaking like a leaf.

"She's gone," he said softly.

Miku sat up in a flash, cheeks blazing red, hands fidgeting in her lap. She looked so lost and embarrassed, Draconis couldn't help but smile.

"I…" Miku stammered, her face nearly steaming.

"It's fine. You just wandered into the wrong room last night, right?" Draconis smiled, voice gentle. "Honestly, I was out cold. Didn't even notice you."

"Yeah, I guess… Sorry…" Miku mumbled, sneaking a peek at his toned, sculpted torso before quickly covering her eyes—though her fingers were splayed wide enough to let her watch through the gaps.

Draconis chuckled, shaking his head. He didn't mind her looking. Stretching, he got up, and with a shimmer of black light, conjured a fresh set of clothes.

"I'll head out first. You go ahead and change," he said, pausing at the door.

But Miku's voice stopped him, barely above a whisper, her face crimson. "Um… about last night… Can we keep it between us?"

Draconis's smile softened. "Of course. Our little secret."

He slipped out, leaving Miku to collapse onto her bed, writhing with embarrassment. For someone as shy as her, this was peak social death—but at least Draconis's calm reaction made it a little easier to bear.

Burying her face in the pillow, Miku couldn't help but murmur, "Draconis…"

Down in the living room, the quintuplets gathered for breakfast. After they'd eaten, Draconis handed out a quick quiz to check their progress—standard procedure to spot any weak points.

The sisters clustered around the table, scribbling answers, while Draconis headed out to the yard for his daily workout. He'd missed his routine this morning, too caught up in last night's magical training, but that didn't mean he'd skip today.

The Regalia Blade could only amplify what his body could handle, so physical training was non-negotiable. With no Rias or Asia around to help, Draconis just cranked up the intensity.

The girls watched through the window as he hammered out hundreds of push-ups—first with both hands, then one, then just a single finger. Next came handstand presses, sit-ups, and more, all under a gravity-multiplied magic circle he'd etched into the ground. Not a drop of magic used on himself—just raw strength and willpower.

The spectacle had the sisters gaping, their quiz papers forgotten as they snuck glances outside.

"This is insane…" Nino muttered, eyes wide. "He doesn't even look that muscular, but he's so tough. How's anyone supposed to survive marriage with him?"

The room fell silent.

"…??"

Every girl turned beet red at Nino's unfiltered comment.

Nino realized what she'd said, face going pale as her heart raced. "Ah—no, I mean—It's not what you're thinking, okay?!"

Her flustered defense only made things worse.

Soon enough, Draconis finished up, came inside, borrowed the shower, and joined them to check their quiz results.

He scanned their answers, expression unreadable.

"Is… is something wrong?" Ichika asked, nervous.

Draconis set the papers down. "You missed quite a few."

The quintuplets squirmed, mortified. They'd spent more time ogling Draconis than focusing on the test, but there was no way they'd ever admit that.

"Haha… Maybe the questions were just really hard," Ichika joked, forcing a laugh.

Draconis didn't push. "Let's get started, then. We only have today and tomorrow left. Time's tight."

"R-right…"

The fact that Draconis wasn't angry made them feel even guiltier. He worked so hard to teach them, and here they were, letting him down.

Determined to make up for it, the girls forced themselves to concentrate, hanging on every word as Draconis explained the material.

Truth was, they were all smart. Once they got serious, progress came fast—faster than even Draconis expected.

"Not bad," he said quietly at the end of the day, genuinely impressed by their turnaround.
