Chapter 67 - 《DXD: Transfer Student》Chapter 67: Why Not Take All Five Sisters?

Draconis's arrival had shaken the Nakano household to its core. Five sisters, five sets of identical wide eyes—shock, awe, and a dash of fear. But as the minutes ticked by, the panic faded. Draconis was simply too calm, too collected to be frightening. Soon, curiosity replaced terror; the girls found themselves drawn to this mysterious visitor.

Supernatural powers. For girls who'd lived their whole lives in the ordinary, it was as if the world had cracked open, revealing a hidden layer beneath the surface.

"So there really is another side to this world—one we ordinary people never see..." Itsuki murmured, wonder coloring her voice.

Draconis smiled faintly. "Most of the time, it has nothing to do with you. Angels, devils, fallen angels—we rarely meddle in human affairs. And I'd appreciate it if you kept my identity secret. Just treat me as a regular guy, alright?"

The three factions had called a truce long ago. Now, the occasional spat was the worst anyone saw. Their numbers were tiny, anyway—humans had ruled the world for years, and that wasn't changing anytime soon.

"Alright, Miss Yotsuba, ready to sign a contract? I can let you be the first to experience my power."

He spoke with a cool detachment befitting his devil persona. No need to play at being ordinary now; a hint of aloofness was part of the package.

Yotsuba bounced in her seat, eyes shining. "Absolutely! Let's do it! Make me a magical girl—let me save the world!"

Draconis deadpanned, "Saving the world's not on the menu, but you're already a beautiful girl."

He reached for her school bag, pulled out a battered textbook. "Let's start here. I'll teach you everything in this book—once I'm done, you'll remember it all."

A hush fell over the room.

"Wait... do I really have to study? Can't you just zap the info straight into my brain?" Nino asked, half hopeful, half resigned.

Draconis sighed. "Sorry, even devils can't do that. You'll have to learn it the normal way."

He thought, You want to skip even the bare minimum? Some things never change.

Yotsuba, ever the good sport, plopped down beside him, eager and ready to learn.

"You're all second-years, right? Perfect. I know these courses inside out. Teaching you should be easy."

He tapped a section of the textbook—the same material the teacher had covered today. For Draconis, it was child's play; for Yotsuba, a lifeline.

Miku blinked. "Wait, Draconis-san, are you a high schooler too?"

"Yep. Second year." He met her gaze, perfectly at ease.

Ichika gave a nervous laugh. "That's... not what I expected from a devil."

The others nodded in agreement. Weren't devils supposed to be out there causing chaos? Instead, here was one sharpening pencils and handing out study tips.

Draconis twirled his pencil, voice steady. "Until you see how the world really works, who can say what's 'normal'?"

He'd been the same once—thought devils were all evil. Now, well... let's just say he'd changed his tune.

"Alright, let's begin. Yotsuba, listen closely."

"Got it! Oh, just call me Yotsuba!" she said, grinning.

"Alright, Yotsuba. Let's work together."

He launched into the lesson, weaving in a touch of magic—subtle memory manipulation, making sure every word stuck. When he finished, he looked up.

"So? Did you remember everything?"

Yotsuba's face lit up. "I did! I really did!"

Draconis nodded, satisfied—until Yotsuba blinked, puzzled.

"But... I still don't understand these problems."

Draconis frowned. "Why? Didn't I just explain all the key points?"

Yotsuba gawked. "Wait—those were the key points?!"

Draconis: "..."

A wave of exasperation crashed over him. He'd forced her to memorize facts, sure—but for someone like Yotsuba, memorization meant nothing without understanding.

He'd underestimated the challenge.

No question about it—Yotsuba was adorable, but she was also a world-class airhead.

Maybe he'd made this too simple. Even with perfect recall, knowledge wasn't something you could just force-feed.

The other sisters stared, equally flummoxed.

"Seriously? Not even magic can save you, Yotsuba..." Ichika muttered, half laughing, half crying.

"Hopeless," Miku sighed.

Nino gave her a teasing grin. "Were you just daydreaming about magical girls the whole time?"

Itsuki patted Yotsuba's shoulder. "Something must've gone wrong. Let's try again."

Draconis leaned back, studying all five girls. "If I'm being honest, your grades are probably all about the same, right?"

The room went silent. Four sisters wilted, looking just as defeated as Yotsuba.

Draconis couldn't help but smile. This was a rare opportunity. Usually, he worked with one client at a time—but now, five potential contracts sat right in front of him.

Why not go big? Take all five sisters.

He rested his chin on his hand, gazing at the quintuplets—five beautiful girls, identical in every way. The idea was tempting.

He'd already figured out the pattern: history and geography, subjects that relied on memorization, would be easy. The real trouble was math and Japanese—concepts they struggled to grasp. But with a little extra time, he could teach them.

"How about it?" Draconis asked, his smile gentle but confident. "Why don't all of you sign a contract with me? In exchange, I'll tutor you myself. I guarantee you'll graduate."
