Chapter 64 - 《DXD: Transfer Student》Chapter 64: A New Summoning Target

As soon as the final bell rang, Draconis and the rest of the club regrouped in the Occult Research Room.

Rias emerged from the shower, a towel wrapped casually around her, her beauty dazzling enough to stop hearts. Of course, only Draconis—currently the club's lone male—got to witness this particular vision.

She shot him a quick glance, entirely unfazed by how lethal her appearance might be. After all, with Draconis, they'd already crossed every line but the last one. At this point, what was left to be shy about?

It was no wonder the other guys in class envied him so fiercely. His relationship with Rias—and the rest of the club's beauties—was far too close for their comfort. The Occult Research Club boasted four stunning girls: Rias, Akeno, Koneko, and now Asia. That left Draconis as the only guy in a sea of unattainable perfection, driving the rest of the school's male population quietly insane.

Most students saw Draconis as just a slightly above-average face in the crowd. So why was he the chosen one for Rias-senpai's club? His behavior was always perfectly normal—never too close, never too distant, never hostile. Even when he worked with classmates, he left no lasting impression: a mystery, a blank slate.

Only Rias and the others knew the real Draconis. They understood his solitary nature—he didn't like talking, but he could fake normalcy with ease. Some people are lonely without knowing it; others, like Draconis, are lonely and self-aware—making them quietly, stubbornly strong. It was this inner strength that made the girls believe he'd shine one day, dazzlingly bright and impossibly powerful.

With them, though, Draconis never hid his true self. He joked, he laughed, he spoke his mind. Their bond had long since crossed the line into genuine intimacy, and Rias and Akeno took pride in having cracked open his guarded heart.

Rias clapped her hands, pulling everyone's attention back. "So, did everyone get a contract request today?"

Everyone except Draconis raised a hand.

Draconis sighed, summoning his familiar—the Sigil of Suppression. "You weren't just slacking off, were you?"

The seal flapped its wings indignantly, clearly offended by the accusation. It had distributed all the flyers, thank you very much.

Draconis eyed it suspiciously. "If you did your job, then who did you give them to?"

Instantly, the familiar dumped a flood of distribution records into Draconis's mind. He scanned them, and a few black lines appeared on his forehead.

"They're all girls?"

Rias and the others crowded around, half laughing, half exasperated at the familiar's antics. Not only did it have a penchant for stripping spells, it apparently had zero mercy for guys.

Rias grinned. "So what? Only girls—are you discriminating against women now?"

Draconis was unbothered. "Generally speaking, female desires can be satisfied by males. Males compete for females—it's basic evolutionary instinct. So most women's wishes are fulfilled by men, the so-called 'simps.' My target group was wrong from the start. No wonder I couldn't find any contracts."

The room fell silent.

Akeno blinked. "Is it… really that complicated?"

Draconis shrugged. "Check your own contract partners. Most of them are men, right?"

Everyone exchanged looks, and sure enough, he was right.

He continued, voice calm: "Women can choose to rely on men. Men only have themselves to rely on—if they don't make themselves valuable, they lose their shot at romance. That pressure is what drives them to make deals with devils."

The girls were left speechless.

Koneko looked up, puzzled. "Why do you know all this stuff?"

Draconis spread his hands, eyes distant. "If life didn't force you, who would bother becoming so talented?"

Rias laughed, shaking her head. "Alright, philosopher, enough deep talk. Those of us with contracts have work to do—time to go fulfill the wishes of a few desperate men."

Draconis tilted his head. "That sounds suspiciously like a service industry. If anyone makes an inappropriate request, you need to shut it down—especially Asia. She's way too innocent."

Rias waved him off. "Don't worry. Any questionable contracts get handled by lower-class devils. We're Gremorys—we don't take those jobs."

Draconis smirked. He'd guessed as much—Rias's inexperience in bed was proof enough.

One by one, everyone teleported away to their assignments, leaving Draconis alone on the sofa, book in hand. It was a little frustrating. He'd just visited Mai yesterday to collect her contract payment, but pestering her every day wasn't fair—she had work too.

Damn, even his girlfriend had a job. Everyone was busy except him. Was he really going to have to go out and hand out flyers himself? That was way too low-rent.

As he sat there, wallowing, a strange glow began to shimmer around him.

Summoning magic?

He checked—yes, it was a contract call. But not from Mai Sakurajima. Someone new.

He glanced at his familiar, thinking about all those flyers it had handed out to pretty girls. Usually, those types had a swarm of suitors chasing after their wishes. Maybe this was just blind luck—a cat catching a mouse by accident.

Whatever. No way he'd miss out on a chance like this.

Draconis stood up, grinning.

Work? Yeah, bring it on.
