Chapter 10 - 10. Lady Trinity

"Good afternoon, Lycan King Kaid," Three gentlemen — Alphas — greeted Kaid. "We would like to have an informal discussion regarding a pledge you have announced."

We knew this would happen. Kaid nodded towards the maids and they all left silently.

One of the Alphas introduced themselves. "I am Alpha Helios from Iron Crescent; these two are my brothers, Alpha Elias and Alpha Orion from Iron Fangs and Iron Claws. We have received a letter requesting our allegiance and time is of the essence. Should the Lady be excused?" He gestured towards me and I could feel Kaid's aura beginning to flare.

"Trinity shall stay," Kaid said.

"Is she your Luna? We shall be acquainted," One of them rudely asked. Oh, this one was not beating around the bush.

"She will be my Queen," Kaid spoke very plainly. He looked at me knowingly and continued, "but that has nothing to do with your political agenda."

"Forgive me, my King. Do you really support Alpha Snow and Lady Zara against Thorned Crescent and their dark witch coven?" This people really cut to the chase and not bother with manners, I mindlinked Kaid.

"Yes," Kaid confirmed. "I have fought alongside Alpha Snow and Lady Zara, and I support them."

"I wonder if the future Queen might have other opinions on this matter," he gestured again to me.

Kaid tensed up. "I suppose you did not come here out of curiosity."

"Your Majesty," I touched his arm to let him know that I got this. "Gentlemen, I am fully aware and fully on board with the King's political stance. I might not be physically involved in meetings and negotiations — we have appointed people especially to handle such delicate matter, like Lord Sterling whom you must have known. I am more interested in business ventures, but a kingdom cannot have two different opinions when it comes to an impending war. I assume you wanted to know where we stand, to help you choose where you stand."

"Oh, lucky you to have such a knowledgeable spouse, Lycan King," he said with a condescending tone.

"Indeed, I am very lucky to have her with me." Kaid walked towards me and linked his fingers to mine, sensing my uneasiness. "I should also let you know, that since you are our guests, you should refer to Trinity as the Lady of the House. She might look very young, but she is more mature...and much wiser than you might realize," Kaid smiled protectively but not quite reaching his eyes.

"Thank you, Your Majesty," I curtseyed, "Now, now, we have been letting our guests stand uncomfortably. Let me take you to our reading room. You can have afternoon refreshments, and perhaps you can talk politics with King Kaid and Lord Sterling."

I sent for the maids to bring refreshing drinks and snacks and I let them discuss pack matters. Kaid mindlinked me, "You should stay, Trin."

"Nah, I'll pass. I'd rather sew buttons than sit in such a boring meeting."

Kaid chuckled accidentally and cleared his throat. I smiled and retreated to the living room.

Kaid's words crept up to me.. She will be my Queen.. He shouldn't be saying those words so freely in front of people we barely know. I will tell him that.
