Chapter 22 - Where?

I sat in front of a broken cat doll.

It's been 12 hours or so, there has been no contact.

"What do you think is happening, meow-chan?"

I folded my hands, looking at the doll thoughtfully. It was hard to imagine 22nd century tech to be malfunctioning without any reason.

"I knew I should've brought something with me for this kind of situation... Stupid me. No wonder I keep getting in worse situations."

Satori had confiscated most of the gadgets leftover from doraemon I had kept hidden with me. Saying something like 'using any causality defying tools right now might be risky without proper oversight' or some shit.

Look where It got me.

"Heeve-ho." I flick the cat over, only for it to stop mid fall and sit back again.

"....."

"AHHHHHHHH! NO NO! NO TIME TO BE PLAYING AROUND! THEY DUMPED ME! DIDN'T THEY?! IT MAKES SENSE! I CAUSED A PROBLEM AND THEY DUMPED ME IN THIS TRASH CITY! WITH NO ONE AROUND!"

I kick the cat away.

"Ow! Frick... Uhh..." I grab my toe as I start jumping on one leg.

"Ow. Ow. O- whoa!"

I slip back down, hitting my head on a trash can, spilling it all around.

"Ugh.... Kill me."

I looked up at the sky. It was awfully bright now. Sweat pouring out like I'm in a toaster. I wanted to panic but... Panicking never does real good. Especially when there's no one to notice.

I knew this feeling quite well too.

This was awfully... Familiar even.

"Reminds me of the time on my fifteenth birthday I tried to warn my neighbors about the earthquake that's going to destroy their house. They didn't listen, obviously.

Saying I'm too much into anime nowadays, thinking of myself as some prophet or something along those lines. I even told them one time that I know the future. Tried explaining and scaring. But nobody took me seriously."

I get up, picking my comms that I had thrown on ground out of frustration and putting them back.

"And then it happened. The house collapsed. Obviously, I called the police beforehand and figured out a way to save them."

I walk to the place where I got sent to through the portal.

"But then it happened. The same thing like always. People started questioning me. Obviously, I couldn't answer.

But then again and again. They started relying onto me. Until it became too much. So much so that they started blaming me for not telling them. Obviously with time, I convinced them with lies. About news and such."

I stopped, looking around for any signs of something moving.

There were none.

"That's the problem. I just want to live. To stay alive. That's why I try to stay away from this stuff.

I mean, look at me. This time I tried to take responsibility, and.. Surprise! I'm stuck."

I lifted my leg to kick. But then my eye went on the stone below me.

I changed my angel, kicking a bottle instead.

"That's what happens. Always. You try helping others. And they become overdependent on you. And the moment you can't stand up to their self made image of yours, you're useless, pathetic or something like irresponsible.

Damn right, I'm irresponsible. You know how hard responsibility is? Like... Way harder than you think."

I looked up into the sky.

"Hah... And... Hm?" I paused.

Something is odd.

But what?

"What's-" My eyes widened.

I ran towards the houses. And then stopped in front of a mirror.

"Wait.. Whoa whoa..." I stumbled back, looking at my reflection.

I was getting.. Younger?

"Shit. Wait... Wait wait wait. This is not funny!"

I immediately started pressing my Comms. "Hello, hello, hello.. Pleas-"

I froze.

"Huh?"

The comms vanished.

"Wait... What's?"

My eyes widened, hands trembled.

"Again... Where... Exactly Am I?!"
