Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"Damn it, that bastard's spiritual power increased again?"

On the rooftop of a house, a red-haired boy carrying a giant baseball bat ground his teeth as he glared at the backs of Cole and Kurosaki Ichigo.

"Is that guy really human? Even if he were Captain Kurosaki's son, that's still way too outrageous!"

Beside him, a frail-looking girl with black hair holding a massive Gatling gun softly reminded him:

"Um, Jinta, that boy you're talking about isn't Captain Kurosaki's son."

"Hah?"

Hanakari Jinta's eyes widened. He pointed at Cole's back in disbelief.

"You're saying that bastard isn't Captain Kurosaki's son?"

Tsumugiya Ururu nodded, weakly pointing at Kurosaki Ichigo.

"That one is Captain Kurosaki's son."

Jinta froze, staring blankly at their backs.

No matter how he looked, Cole's spiritual power was much stronger—hundreds of times greater than Ichigo's—burning like blue flames.

After a few seconds, he finally snapped back, glaring viciously at Cole's back.

"Then who the hell is this black-haired bastard!?"

Ururu thought for a moment.

"Mr. Bystander?"

Jinta clenched his bat, grinding his teeth.

"I really want to beat him up."

He thought of his years of suffering—being shaken awake by Urahara Kisuke in the middle of the night, sent to rescue people.

Sometimes even more than once a day, so often his hormones felt messed up.

And now they were telling him that black-haired kid wasn't Captain Kurosaki's son, but the blond one was?

What a joke!!!

Since when did ordinary humans have this kind of spiritual power?

...

Karakura First High School, Class 1–3.

When Cole and Ichigo walked into the classroom, they immediately drew everyone's attention.

Tatsuki couldn't help but say: "Cole, Ichigo, did you two get into a fight with the mafia before class? Why are you so beat up?"

Cole and Ichigo exchanged a glance, noticing that each other's clothes were either covered in dust or torn.

Asano Keigo exclaimed: "Seriously, do you guys fight the mafia every morning before school?"

Mizuiro Kojima added: "You both look terrible, your clothes are ripped all over. It's like you were just being chased."

Ichigo's mouth twitched. He wanted to say something but couldn't.

Cole sat lazily in his seat.

"I told you already, every morning we just beat up a few monsters along the way. You know, keeping Karakura safe."

"There he goes again, Cole and his monster theories…"

The classmates all shook their heads helplessly.

Who would believe there were monsters in Karakura Town?

Asano Keigo eagerly ran over: "Cole, Ichigo, tell me the truth. Did you kidnap some mafia boss's daughter? Is that why they keep chasing you two?"

"What mafia in Karakura would dare mess with us?"

Cole rolled his eyes at him.

His strength was over 4,000 points—equivalent to the power of 400 humans.

Sure, still weak compared to Hollows, but against humans, he was a real-life Superman.

"That's not certain…" Keigo muttered. "What if it wasn't the mafia, but like, some politician's daughter, or some high official's daughter…"

"Take your daughter nonsense somewhere else."

Cole impatiently waved the gossip addict away.

At that moment, the tall, muscular, dark-skinned Chad walked up and asked in a deep voice:

"Cole, Ichigo, need help?"

Cole and Ichigo quickly shook their heads, refusing his kindness.

If they couldn't handle those monsters, adding Chad into the fight would only make things worse.

Once everyone was gone, Cole and Ichigo started fixing their clothes.

Inoue Orihime hesitated, then ran over blushing, holding out a neatly sewn outfit.

"Cole-kun, this is the uniform you asked me to mend last time. I finished it, you can wear it now."

Cole's eyes lit up. He quickly took it with excitement.

"Thanks, Inoue. If I went to class dressed like this, Ochi-sensei would've scolded me for sure."

Ichigo shot him a bitter look, then curiously asked Orihime:

"Orihime, when did Cole ask you to fix that?"

Her face grew redder as she lowered her head.

"It was last time… when Cole came to help at my house…"

Cole, changing clothes as he spoke, added:

"Inoue's brother's shrine was broken, so I went to help him make a new one."

Ichigo suddenly understood. He also knew Orihime's late brother.

Cole then turned to Orihime and asked softly:

"By the way, Inoue, are you still offering daily prayers for your brother?"

Blushing, Orihime nodded shyly, sneaking glances at Cole's bare torso.

"Yes… I pray every day. Because you said, Cole-kun, since my brother loved me so much, he must still be here protecting me. I can't let him be lonely…"

Cole nodded slightly.

With Orihime's prayers, and the warning he had given her brother, there was no way he would fall into becoming a Hollow like in the original story.

When Ichigo or he became a Shinigami, they could send him to Soul Society.

"Wait a second, Cole, what are you doing!?"

Tatsuki suddenly shouted, her face flushing red as she saw Cole changing.

Seeing his bare torso, she rushed over and pulled Orihime back.

"Cole, how can you strip in the classroom like this? Orihime will get embarrassed!"

Orihime really was embarrassed, but quickly grabbed Tatsuki's hand and whispered it was fine, all while sneaking peeks at Cole's chest, her face burning red.

Cole-kun…

His body's… really nice…

...

Soon after, the school day ended.

Cole and Ichigo walked down the street when suddenly, they heard a Hollow's roar.

Cold sweat dripped down Ichigo's forehead. He turned sharply toward a tall building in the distance, where a Hollow was rampaging.

Cole also saw it. But his gaze wasn't fixed on the Hollow—

It was on the Shinigami girl standing on a telephone pole.

That black Shihakushou…

"Kuchiki Rukia!"
