Chapter 136 - An Incident

As he headed toward the area where he usually sat to wait for the early risers who wanted to talk to someone, at the end of the path on the right there was a strange small room, similar to a hall without many things occupying its wide space.

There were statues of Saints on the walls, very old-looking chairs, and there was a more secluded area where people could pray in secret.

Jonathan walked toward that darker room and approached a statue. After observing it for a few minutes, he put down his backpack and changed his shoes for more comfortable ones.

Compared to common people, the attire of priests is quite particular. It varies depending on the denomination and the occasion. However, it commonly includes a cassock, a stole, and a chasuble during liturgical ceremonies. The color of the vestments can change depending on the liturgical season.

But Jonathan, who was an Exorcist Priest, wore a black suit under his equally black tunic that covered most of his body. The black boots on his feet were special since they were made similarly to military boots, and parts of his clothing were reinforced to withstand very peculiar attacks.

The outfits of an Exorcist Priest were made for unexpected combat. They could face a werewolf at any time or place, so they had to be prepared for it. It was obvious that normal clothing would not work, hence the heavy investment in their equipment.

"Something simpler…" Jonathan set his suit down but removed the upper black tunic that clung tightly to his body. He took a golden Bible and, after looking at himself in a mirror, nodded at how good he looked.

In an instant, the ferocity in his face calmed, and instead a compassionate, loving young priest appeared, with a vivid look in his eyes.

Once Jonathan was ready, he looked away from the mirror, smoothed out the wrinkles in his clothes, and left the room as he headed to a place where he could find people.

But just as he was walking, Jonathan felt a presence behind him—one that had not been there before. "How are you standing there?"

At that moment, a cold sensation flooded Jonathan's body, and immediately he reached into his bag, pulled out a metal tube, and waited in silence before summoning a sword of light.

"It's impossible for a dark entity to enter a church…" Jonathan murmured as he turned around, but farther back, in the distance, there was absolutely nothing.

"Was it my imagination?"

Seeing the empty church, Jonathan wondered if what he had just felt was only in his mind. He couldn't think of anything else at this moment since he had clearly felt he was being watched by a dark entity.

He wasn't sure; he had never had aftereffects from all the horrible things he had been through, and now wasn't the time to feel something like that. Unsure, Jonathan walked down the hallway deeper into the church, wanting to know if there was something in that place that no one had discovered.

Crack!

At that moment, a sharp sound of something breaking came from the floor, and when Jonathan looked down, he was surprised to see frost.

"Manifestation…" Jonathan was shocked to see this because it only occurred with high-rank dark entities, so he knew very well that something was happening around him.

"Whatever you are, I'm going to exterminate you…"

Jonathan advanced without caring about the danger, furrowed his brows, and focused his mind on any kind of enemy that might be around. But just before he got into the car, a girl with a nervous expression ran and collided with Jonathan.

"Ow!"

After Jonathan had received numerous increases in strength through the assistance system, his physical condition had improved tremendously.

His entire body was as hard and resistant as the muscles of a fierce beast.

"A teenager?" Jonathan thought after seeing the girl who had hit his shoulder. Now that he had a general idea of what was happening, he decided to help the girl first.

"Are you okay?"

Jonathan expressed concern and immediately extended a hand, wanting to help the girl up.

However, when the girl looked up, Jonathan was surprised to see her face.

It wasn't that this girl was ugly.

To be honest, she was quite pretty, considering she wasn't wearing any makeup at all.

However, the dark circles under the girl's eyes were extremely deep, as if they had been drawn with a black marker.

At the very least, Jonathan could swear he had never seen dark circles so severe.

The girl looked at Jonathan and shook her head.

She got up quickly and ran off. It seemed she had something urgent to do.

"Are you in trouble?" Jonathan asked loudly, watching the girl's back as she ran off. He thought she might be being chased by a spirit, but there had been no reaction when he touched her hand with his special ability.

"It's none of your business, priest!"

Jonathan stroked his chin. Since the other party didn't want to say anything, he treated it as a small interlude—there was no sense in being meddlesome.

How could he explain what had just happened? Well, he had no answer for that.

"What is this?" Jonathan's gaze suddenly landed on a piece of paper on the ground.

It seemed to have fallen from the girl just a moment ago.

After picking it up, he realized it was a drawing of the face of a goat.

But this was not an ordinary goat.

This goat had a very large body, huge muscles, and arms so long that sharp claws protruded from its fingers.

However, its lips were very red, and the white fur on its body made it resemble a goat, but the most striking thing was that its eyes were not a normal red. Instead, they were the color of fresh blood. Its face was very pale, and a row of sharp teeth could be seen in its mouth—it was a terrifying appearance.

Jonathan furrowed his brows and wondered, "A cursed object?"

Just this simple drawing would make anyone feel extremely terrified and uncomfortable. And he could feel it—that sensation of touching death itself, as if it were close to his hands.

He turned around and saw that the girl had already disappeared, so he couldn't return the paper even if he wanted to.

After reaching a conclusion, he took out his cell phone and sent a message: "A special case in my jurisdiction—girl wearing a red hoodie and school uniform."
