Chapter 126 - A Breath

"[…]

Name: Jonathan Belmont

[Occupation]: Exorcist, Hunter, and Paranormal Agent.

Talent: Night Vision.

[Effect]: You can see more clearly at night and vaguely perceive cursed spirits that are near you.

[Effect]: You can bless both material and immaterial things. By using this talent, you can turn anything into a weapon to fight evil.

Talent: Prayer Reading.

[Effect]: Any kind of prayer, with spiritual strength and faith, can be used as a weapon to purify the souls of humans infected by evil. It can also be used to harm supernatural beings.

[Passive Ability]: Mastery of All Forms of Combat.

[Effect]: The bearer possesses innate and progressive mastery in all forms of combat, physical or spiritual. He can use any weapon, adapt to any fighting style, and execute complex tactics without prior training. His body, mind, and spirit act in perfect synchrony, improving his offensive and defensive efficiency with each encounter.

[Supernatural Ability]: Advanced Telekinetic Mastery.

[Effect]: Allows manipulation of objects, bodies, and physical forces through concentrated spiritual energy. This ability ranges from surgical precision to large-scale destructive force.

[Limitation]: Each use consumes a large amount of spiritual energy proportional to the mass and distance of the target. Under extreme emotional stress, precision decreases and mental fatigue multiplies. It requires absolute concentration; interruptions may cause loss of control.

[Divine Ability]: Hand of God.

[Effect]: In your hand you have the ability to connect with the most divine, opening at will the cross of God. Many say this ability comes directly from the hand of God.

[Supernatural Ability]: Advanced Manipulation of Hunter Instinct, Wesen.

[Effect]: The ability to see the true face of Wesen when they lose control.

[Limitation]: Revealing to the Wesen that you are a potential Hunter, thanks to your eyes which for them turn empty, as black as the abyss, a unique characteristic that only they can see.

[Passive Ability]: High-Level Autonomous Regeneration.

[Effect]: A mutated capability of accelerated bodily recovery. Inspired by patterns observed in subjects of the Witch type. It allows healing fractures, mortal wounds, and internal damage within minutes.

[Limitation]: Each regenerative cycle drains spiritual and physical energy. Consecutive regenerations temporarily reduce effectiveness and may induce severe fatigue, spiritual fever, or loss of consciousness if the process is overused.

[Object]: Consecrated Spiritual Force Sword.

[Effect]: This sword does not possess a permanent physical form. Its blade manifests as a radiant edge of pure light only when the bearer channels spiritual energy through the sacred hilt, forged from celestial silver and ancient runes. The sword responds to the user's soul, shining more intensely according to the purity of his purpose. While in use, it enhances the bearer's abilities.

[Object]: Sacred Gauntlets.

[Effect]: A pair of consecrated gloves with inscriptions in Latin, Enochian, and protection seals engraved on purified infernal leather. When used by someone with high spiritual strength, these gauntlets allow the exorcism of demonic entities through direct physical contact.

Each strike channels spiritual energy capable of weakening, sealing, or even expelling malignant presences. They also enhance any talent related to blessings and prayers, amplifying their range and effectiveness.

…]"

Jonathan had spent the entire morning looking over a great amount of information about the sect that performed demonic rituals in Texas. It seemed that everything was still not over, as the mission on his attribute panel was still active.

All this could only mean one thing: the sect that the field agents were supposedly investigating was larger than they thought. That also meant they were hiding somewhere in this town, so he would take it upon himself to search through the special areas where strange reports about dead animals had been found.

This made Jonathan quickly form a very large investigation team, since he could not retreat until he found them all.

"If these people can, in a certain way, summon a demon, they must be found and exterminated or the problems will continue." Jonathan murmured as he held his forehead while looking at all the documents that had to be reviewed.

He had looked into the method for summoning a supposed loved one, and it was nothing more than something that connected the living being with the underworld, calling a specific demon who called himself Paimon—one of the seven kings of hell, who summoned the spirits of the dead to make people believe they were speaking with them, but it was all a trap.

History tells that when faced with Solomon, Paimon was able to turn the dry desert ground into a semi-liquid state, and was also capable of raising walls from the ground that solidified afterward to protect them from strong impacts.

This shows how dangerous his complete summoning would be, and that he could also, in a certain way, summon his army to torment the human world.

A mistake like this must not be underestimated, since the damage could be far more terrifying than one might think at first glance.

"We are accessing the entire local network to hack and extract related information, but we haven't found anything. Are you sure we are looking for someone from this town?"

"We have eliminated over one hundred targets, but that is completely out of range of those really involved. Where will we find the other three hundred targets their leader mentioned?"

Jonathan looked at the town map and discovered that there were many hiking mountains that connected to another nearby town. He didn't want to mention that the other town was involved, but rather the mountains.

"Do we have data about the mountains?" Jonathan asked the management team.

"We do, multiple disappearances that left no trace…"

"Expand!" Jonathan looked at the missing persons reports involving this place and slightly furrowed his brows.

Then, with Wednesday's ability, he was able to find which disappearance cases were related to dark entities.

"[Name: Julia Martínez

Year of Disappearance: 2014

Information: Julia, 28 years old, disappeared while on a solo hike through the Santa Carmen mountain trails. She was last reported near the viewpoint on the mountain, and despite extensive search efforts, her whereabouts remain unknown.]"

Jonathan approached the screen to examine the supposed route she was taking. "Mark her route and switch to the next."

"[Name: Andrés López

Year of Disappearance: 2015

Information: Andrés, an experienced 35-year-old hiker, was lost during a group expedition deep in the Santa Carmen mountain system. Despite intense rescue efforts, including helicopters and search dogs, not a single trace has been found since his disappearance.]"

"Move to the next, but mark his route first."

"Understood."

"[Name: Carolina Pérez

Year of Disappearance: 2016

Information: Carolina, a 22-year-old young woman, disappeared during a hiking trip with friends on the steep slopes of Santa Carmen. She was lost during a sudden storm, and there has been no news of her since, despite intense search efforts by local authorities and volunteer rescue teams.]"

When the marked routes each person had taken and the locations where they disappeared were displayed on the giant screen, everyone saw a symbol form.

This was no coincidence; everyone fell silent when many recognized the symbol.

What they saw was an inverted pentagram with additional lines crossing in the center, creating a complex geometric figure that suggested chaos and darkness.

"Do we have data on who has entered the mountain today?" Jonathan looked at the screen with a serious expression on his face.

"That would take us some time to find out."

"Then look for it." Jonathan turned toward Doug and ordered: "Prepare the elite team, have them bring the cars, off-road vehicles, and enough equipment to spend the night in that forest."

"Understood!" Doug nodded quickly and left the office.

"We've got them."
