Recap:
Lynx, once mocked as the cripple of the Azure Sky Sect, suffered a brutal beating at the hands of Senior Brother Kai. Yet, at the brink of death, his shattered meridians gave birth to a forbidden duality—Yin and Yang. Before the eyes of his sect, he awakened a Dao erased by Heaven itself.
Act I – The Shockwave
The courtyard had become a ruin.
Training pillars cracked, dust filled the air, and disciples stumbled back as the residual waves of power lashed against them.
Black and white light coiled around Lynx like dragons, flickering, chaotic, yet strangely harmonious. His chest rose and fell with slow, deliberate breaths.
The disciples who mocked him moments ago now gaped in horror.
"Impossible…" one whispered.
"He was crippled—he shouldn't even be alive."
"That aura… it's not pure yin qi… and not pure yang qi either. It's both—"
The words turned to silence as an oppressive pressure rolled over the courtyard. A dozen elders appeared at once, descending from the sky. Their robes billowed with spiritual force, eyes sharp as blades as they locked onto Lynx.
Act II – The Elders' Verdict
The leading elder, a gaunt man with white hair and hawk-like eyes, raised his hand. The disciples dropped to their knees instantly.
"What happened here?" His voice was cold, like steel striking stone.
Senior Brother Kai hurried forward, his confidence fraying but his pride intact. He pointed at Lynx, his hand trembling. "Elder Shen! I—he—he's awakened something unnatural! He was crippled, but now… now look at him! That power—it shouldn't exist!"
The elders' gazes pierced into Lynx. Their expressions shifted—shock, curiosity, calculation.
One elder muttered under his breath, "Yin and Yang in one vessel… But that path was… destroyed."
Another frowned, voice low. "If Heaven erased it, then any who walk it… are enemies of Heaven."
Elder Shen's eyes narrowed. "Boy. What Dao have you touched?"
Lynx met his gaze. For a moment, silence stretched. Inside him, the twin forces churned violently, whispering in his veins. Fire and frost. Chaos and stillness.
He did not fully understand what he had become. But his answer came sharp, unyielding.
"I did not choose this Dao," Lynx said, his voice calm. "It chose me."
The disciples shuddered at his tone. Even Elder Shen's eyes flickered.
Kai snarled, unwilling to let the moment slip. "He's lying! Elder, this is a heretical path. It's dangerous! He should be crippled again—no, executed—before it spreads misfortune to the sect!"
A murmur of agreement rippled among the more conservative elders. But others… their eyes gleamed with something darker. Greed. Ambition.
If this boy truly embodied what had been lost… perhaps he was not a curse, but an opportunity.
Act III – Between Wolves
Elder Shen lifted his hand, silencing the courtyard. His gaze never left Lynx.
"Seize him."
The command struck like thunder.
Disciples and guards hesitated, looking at one another. Seize him? Against that storm swirling around him?
Kai stepped forward eagerly, eyes burning with vindication. "Yes, Elder Shen!"
But before anyone could move, Lynx's body convulsed. The swirling black and white qi flared wildly, lashing out like a tempest. Stones shattered, the ground split, and even Kai stumbled back, his robes torn by the force.
Lynx clutched his chest, breathing raggedly. His body was not yet ready. The dual forces clawed at him, threatening to rip him apart if he lost focus.
Still… his lips curled into something between a grimace and a smirk.
"Seize me?" His voice cracked but carried. "Do you even understand what you're grasping for?"
The courtyard fell silent.
Act IV – The Silent Retreat
Elder Shen's eyes glimmered. For the first time in decades, something beyond his control stood before him. He lowered his hand slowly.
"Enough. All of you—return to your training. This matter… will be decided by the sect master himself."
The elders exchanged wary glances. A forbidden Dao had emerged under their very roof. To act rashly might destroy them all—or elevate them beyond imagination.
Kai's jaw clenched, rage simmering beneath his skin. But he dared not defy the elder.
The disciples scattered, whispers following them like shadows.
"Is he really… chosen by Heaven?"
"No… not Heaven. Something else."
"Then what does that make him?"
Only Lynx remained, his body trembling with the weight of his newfound power.
Act V – Alone with the Forbidden Dao
Night fell.
Lynx sat alone on a cliff overlooking the sect grounds. The moon hung low, casting silver light over his battered frame. His robes were torn, blood still stained his lips, but within his chest burned the twin forces—seething, clashing, yet unwilling to let him die.
He raised his palm. Black and white sparks danced between his fingers, hissing like fire meeting ice.
His heart pounded.
This is… me?
Memories of the laughter, the mockery, Kai's cruel eyes—every wound, every humiliation—rushed back. For years, he was less than a disciple. A cripple. A joke.
Now… Heaven itself trembled at his breath.
A bitter laugh escaped his throat, low and sharp.
"So this is what it means to defy Heaven."
The sparks coiled tighter, forming a symbol in the air—an endless circle, half dark, half light.
The Yin-Yang.
The Forbidden Dao.
And for the first time in his life… Lynx smiled.
