Synopsis
Player Backstory: Zavorn Sylvas was not born into greatness, though his High Elf lineage once demanded it. Raised in Cerallya, Zavorn was seen as an outcast even among his own kind. His natural attunement to magic was undeniable, but this gift seemed tainted—his powers leaned toward the dark and unnatural, fueled by emotions of envy, bitterness, and an almost parasitic hunger for knowledge and power. The Elves of Cerallya, fiercely proud and steeped in their age-old traditions, shunned Zavorn from an early age. He was a stain on their arching ideals of purity and balance. Driven by rejection and spite, Zavorn’s curiosity and ambition grew dangerously insatiable. He left Cerallya as soon as he could fend for himself, retreating to Aeressari under the guise of seeking higher magical knowledge. He spent decades studying in the shadowed corners of Aeressari’s libraries and magical academies, pouring over forbidden texts and dabbling in the art of manipulation—not limited to magic but extending to people. His silver tongue could win the favor of the desperate and the gullible, though trust never lasted long with Zavorn. His personal motto was simple yet chilling: "The road to power is one paved with broken deals and shattered dreams—you’re either the manipulator or the manipulated." Zavorn did not use his talents to protect or heal; he used them to control and to destroy when necessary. Creators of magical artifacts quietly disappeared after their knowledge was extracted, and rumor spread of a High Elf connected to unsettling magical phenomena. Zavorn began experimenting with blending magical forces that bordered on necromancy, enchanting curses, and even tapping into abyssal energies. His actions did not go unnoticed, and soon he realized he had overstayed his welcome in the magical city. Talk of enchantments darkening the once-pure waters of the Ghivanni River made him the subject of hushed meetings, and the Elven scholars of Aeressari were beginning to consider a formal exile. Before action could be taken against him, Zavorn left Aeressari voluntarily. He now resides in the mysterious merchant hub of Leskyir at the heart of the Merchant’s Pass, trading rare magical items and cursed trinkets for gold and favors. Zavorn is no stranger to survival. To him, power is the greatest currency—the more he knows, the closer he is to ultimate freedom. Yet even in the city of merchants, whispers of his dark dealings began to circulate. Zavorn was growing anxious; staying in Leskyir much longer could result in unwanted attention from those unwilling to do business with such a volatile mage. The High Elf now seeks movement—not out of fear, for Zavorn cares little for physical or moral danger. Rather, he craves the unknown, the whispers of long-forgotten spells or artifacts buried in ancient tombs and battlefields. Every new day in isolation adds fuel to his sinister ambition: to become the most feared mage in Al’mundi's history. For now, Zavorn sets out from Leskyir, choosing adventuring as the perfect cover and opportunity—a way to fold chaos into his plans and perhaps pick off a few unwitting “allies” along the way. In a world intricately connected through secrets, Zavorn intends to become the puppeteer of not only magic but the very fabric of the society that once scorned him.
