The envoy of the Thousand Tree Tribe moved swiftly across the plain. At its head rode two men—one middle-aged, the other young.
The older one, Dapu, had the hard face and steady posture of a veteran hunter. Beside him rode his brother-in-law, Liding, a brash young man with too much curiosity and too little restraint.
"Dage," Liding asked after a while, breaking the silence, "what do you think the leader is planning? He actually wants to marry the Moon Lord of the Moon Lake Tribe?"
Dapu's eyes flicked toward him, sharp as a knife. "What's that supposed to mean? Do you think the Moon Lord isn't worthy of our leader?"
Liding quickly waved both hands. "No, no, not that! It's just… I heard she's a little too fierce." He leaned closer, lowering his voice. "Some hunters said she once beat up a few suitors who came to propose marriage. Do you really think the leader can handle a woman like that?"
