Chapter 1 - 1. Blue Star

Blue Star, Nova City.

The Nova City was incredible huge, with anti-gravity trains going through the airlines as they crossed past multiple skyscrapers which donned the entire Nova City. Futuristic air balloons floated around the city showing ads and other news.

In the corner of Nova city's sector 6 was Nova-5 Highschool, one of the many schools in Nova City operated by the Nova City Governor.

In the teacher's office, Teacher Jared was looking at a student with a frown on his face.

"Grey, I believe you already know why I called you here?" Teacher Jared Inquired to the standing in front.

The student was a young man who looked to be 17 years old. He had long black hair which was disheveled, a short nose and short black eyes with dark circles under his eyes. His face wasn't anything worth mentioning and could only be said to be average. He had a rather slim build and he looked rather pale for someone his age.

The student, Grey Lockhart spoke up with a confused look. "Is it to remind me not to tell anyone of the encounter you had with Miss Rachel yesterday, Teacher Jared?"

Teacher Jared's expression changed slightly and a slightly embarrassed look appeared on his face and with a twitching face, he spoke up in a cold tone. "You should already know what will happen if you speak about it to others."

This was an outright threat and Grey clearly caught it, but he didn't care, the previous grey would've been shaking in his boots as of now, but he wasn't the same anymore.

He was a proud citizen of Earth who lived in the peak of the internet age, something like a threat from an evolver wasn't going to faze him.

He originally crossed over 10 days ago and over the past 10 days, he had completely absorbed and learned everything about this world.

This world was completely different from his old Earth, not only was it more technologically advanced than his old world, it was also far more dangerous.

Evolvers. They are supernatural beings with superpowers. Almost 10,000 years ago an energy storm from the Blue Star's core swept towards the planet's surface and humanity came in contact with Cosmic energy, additionally, with the energy storm, three special records along with a special artifact was found by the pioneers of the old era.

Those special records were the three great evolutionary paths of Blue Star, they were the Immortal Cultivation Path, Martial path and Esper Path.

From there on, the great era of evolvers began.

Of course, not everyone could cultivate those three evolutionary, only 1 in a million could cultivate it and the entire population of the Blue Star amounted to only 7 billion and it led to many problems.

Seeing this, the great scholars of the old era comprehended the great evolutionary paths and forged other paths from it, from there on, countless evolutionary paths were born and more and more evolvers rose up in the world.

And in the present, anyone could become an evolver as long as they had money and an affinity to an evolution path.

As Grey was thinking, Teacher Jared continued with a cold look on his face. "Grey, I'll cut to the chase, the reason why I called you here is because I want you to drop out of the school on your accords."

Grey hearing this was calm. He didn't feel anything after what Teacher Jared said.

He, Grey Lockhart was a talentless fellow who doesn't have a chance of becoming an evolver, for he wasn't compatible with any evolutionary path which existed in Blue Star. There were hundreds of evolutionary paths in this age yet not a single path was compatible with him.

This was actually really common, despite the old scholars forging a path for the ordinary mortals and increasing the rate at where one can become an evolver, it still didn't completely eliminate the odds of one not being able to become an evolver because they lacked compatibility with transcendental energy like cosmic energy.

Compatibility or talent as they say still played a crucial role and someone like Grey didn't have it. He could only stay a mortal and look at the sky as his fellow classmates soared to the sky.

Of course, that was what was in the previous grey's mind. It couldn't be said to be the same for him.

He won't give up!

Since the day he woke up in this world, he was excited beyond words, seeing humans flying through the sky and shooting energy beams through their hands was no longer impossible!

How could he, someone from Earth who read an unimaginable amount of webnovels before just stay as a mortal?

No, he wouldn't rest until he became an evolver and became as strong as those experts of the Blue Star.

"No." Grey slowly said with an indifferent look on his face.

"No?" Teacher Jared sneered. "Unfortunately, I won't take No for an answer student Grey. This is for both your own good and for the entire school. You are the only person in the class who hasn't become an evolver yet and I believe that Nova-5 School is no longer suited for you. You can never become an evolver and you will only continue to ruin the reputation of Nova-5 by staying here."

Teacher Jared paused and continued. "If you drop out right now then I will personally talk to the people of the Scholar University in Nova City and get you admission there and…"

He searched around in his pocket and then he took out a small glass card with a special chip.

It was a Bank note, scanning it directly with one's mobile will directly transfer the money in it to the account of the one who scanned.

"There is 5,000 Union Credits in this Bank Note. If you decide to drop out then I will have no problem giving it to you and I hope this stays between us." Teacher Jared said. "What I meant is, don't speak of this to your sister."

Speaking of his sister, Teacher Jared couldn't help but get slightly worried.

His Sister, Alissa Lockhart, she was the same age as Grey however she was already an official evolver licensed under the Evolver Association of Nova City.

She was a tier 1 evolver and was in the Elite class of Nova-5, he was afraid if she learned about his dealings with Grey, she might not let him go, but on the other hand when he thought about the sibling's relationship, he soon calmed down.

Alissa hated her good for nothing brother, hence she shouldn't make things difficult for him even if she found out.

Grey stared at the bank note in Teacher Jared's hands and laughed.

"No thanks." Grey smiled. "I don't plan on leaving the School until the third year ends and according to rules no one, not even the principal can directly expel a student unless they break rules and so far, I have done no such things."

He then paused as if thinking of something and he took out his phone and played a rather special video. "If you try to frame me, I will directly publish this into the school chat group."

Who is Grey? He was someone who crossed over from Earth where he had read thousands of novels with similar situations, he was more than prepared for something like this and had already made preparations!

"YOU!" Teacher Jared snapped. He stood up from his chair with an enraged expression, yet he couldn't do anything, if he hit a student here then it will definitely lead to unexpected consequences and with the video in Grey's hand, he definitely couldn't risk anything.

"Despite your build, you're rather…" Grey looked at Teacher Jared with pity and shook his head. "Maybe even becoming an evolver cannot fix that huh…"

"Bastard…" Teacher Jared's expression was incredibly ugly right now. He wanted to snap Grey into two pieces but he couldn't, he had to hold it in!

"Anyways, I'll take my leave." Grey said with a small smile. "I hope you won't make things difficult for me and likewise, I won't bother you either. Farewell, Teacher Jared."

Outside Nova-5 Highschool.

Grey waited near the Bus stop to go back home. It was almost past noon, the classes were already over and other students had already left for home, he was late because he was held back by Head Teacher Jared.

Just then, Grey sensed something. Inside his mind, a huge door with intricate patterns and light suddenly glowed brilliantly and the door knob lit up with a bright mysterious energy.

"Is it fully charged up?" Grey's eyes shone, as he focused into his mind.

Buzz!

His mind stirred, and words formed clearly in his consciousness:

"Defy Death. Defy the Dao. Defy Heaven. Defy Reality itself."
